nightmare. right now drivers are still trying to get by after a wild chase and crash on a major highway. good evening, the back up is a lot better but traffic still moving slow enough that you may want to change your route if you're headed into district from virginia any time soon. right now traffic has been moving at a snail's pace along

interstate 66 in the area of glebe road. all because of a police chase that toledo a crash involving several vehicles. derrick ward is near the scene in arlington. what's the latest? >> reporter: 66 is now open here. which is north falls church. we're at the patrick henry overpass. traffic is moving. take a look at the scene a few moments earlier. see that black dodge charger. it was wrecked. police tried to stop that car on eastbound 66. the driver was wanted. he was taken from that car. another person in the car got behind the wheel and drove off. police pursued that car. if you are on 66 you'll run into back up. it hit several cars before coming to a stop. three people were injured in this accident. among them someone who was driving that car. we have a person here who was around sort of when this happened. you said you heard more than you saw. >> yeah. i was in bed at the time watching it. i heard the tires screech and

heard the sirens and i heard the helicopter overhead. i went to check it out. it was a pretty intense scene because when i went out there they had the guy on the ground and guns drawn. the dude looked like he was in handcuffs from what i saw. it was pretty crazy saturday. >> reporter: what we were told two people including one of the people in the car that they were chasing was injured. we don't have much more information as to the extent of those injuries or what precipitated the traffic stop. right now we're live on i-66 at patrick henry overpass. back to you. the people stuck in this mess had nothing to do but wait. a lot of them started tweeting. some photos you can see a few cars trying to turn around. others got out and wait for the road to re-open. get a heads up on traffic conditions any time on our website. head to nbcwashington.com and click the traffic tab at the top of the home page. right now in prince george's

county police are trying to find the person to with killed two women inside a house. someone called police asking them to check on the women. an officer found their bodies and it looks as if they were beaten. they haven't identified them or released details about a suspect. but investigators believe the victims may have known the person or people who killed them. not one more. that's the message today from hundreds of people protesting the daily deportation of undocumented immigrants. today's rally filled the streets of d.c. and even resulted in some arrests. new at 6:00 news4 miett green shows us what they are fighting for. >> reporter: they brought their message not one more deportation to the national mall. they say this movement is about

dealing with shower. isolated activity. if you're going out this evening keep that umbrella handy. you might not need to use it. we'll keep an eye on this area of rain too that could be bringing some more steady rain to southern maryland overnight tonight but you can see how dry future weather is this evening. more rain in the forecast for tomorrow. i'll that have timing coming up. tonight a man is dead after he apparently overdosed on drugs at a maryland music festival. paramedic-to rush 20 people to the hospital. now all this happened on friday at the mad decent block party at merriweather post pavilion. investigators say nearly all these cases are related to drugs but we don't know what drugs were involved. the man who died is from north carolina. he was 20 years old. less than a week before the redskins first pre-season game about 20,000 people made the trek to richmond for fan appreciation day.

rhode island avenue in hyattsville as 6 million gallons gushed on the street. a 73-year-old pipe ruptured and started spewing water and opened up a huge hole in the road. it took about 48 hours to fix but crews re-opened rhode island avenue just a few hours ago. developing right now an american doctor infected with ebola is now back in the united states and he's getting some treatment tonight. take a look. this is new video from outside emory hospital in atlanta. one of them is kent brantly who arrived in georgia on board a specially outfitted private plane. doctors will treat dr. brantly and another infected aid worker in an isolation unit. both americans got sick while working to stop the outbreak in liberia. right now at 6:00 cracking down on garbage. the law that's about to affect more of you and determine where

of fame class of 2014 will be enshrined in canton. seven players an excellent class including linebacker der rick brooks, punter ray guy, defensive end claude humphrey. walter jones. andre reed. and michael strahan and aeneas williams. let's move over to basketball. last night one of the top nba players suffered a devastating injury. pacers forward paul george is likely to miss all of next season after fracturing his right leg. george suffered the injury in an intra squad scrimmage for team usa. he under went successful surgery on that broken right leg and is expected to remain in the hospital for three days. doctors estimate a full recovery could take as long as 18 months. the americans plan to reduce the player pool to 14 or 15 players
