plan in place. the cause, a three-day summit that kicks off tomorrow between u.s. officials and dozens of african leaders. this is some of the area that's going to be impacted. some of the closures already in effect at this hour. we'll show you what you have to look out for as we look at the week ahead. >> reporter: crews put down concrete barriers in georgetown as the first wave of closures take effect. and this is just the beginning. expect to see detours and parking restrictions from now through wednesday. samantha is already finding ways. >> find alternate routes. >> reporter: events are happening at the academy of sciences, the white house, the world bank and the mandarin oriental hotel. people should expect delays due

to road closures and motorcades. there could also be protests. dignitaries could be seen at the four seasons hotel in georgetown. >> there were some roads flagged, a lot of police, a lot of security. so i guess it's a good thing. >> reporter: street closures could also have an impact on some businesses, limiting customer access. this store is just one in the closure zones. he hopes the increased activity could be a good thing. >> it being laos like i lucked out, the closures start there. >> reporter: they are encourage being people to be flexible for the next couple days and to think about letting workers telecommute. >> so even with these planned closures we know how quickly traffic around here can change. you want to check in with melissa's traffic alerts

tomorrow at 4:26. all new at 6:00, you may know him from the show "the wire." but tonight glover is one of those recovering from a fight at a nightclub. police want to talk to people who were there. people attacked glover, kicking him, punching him. he's best known for playing slim charles. he suffered a severe cut and a bruise. no word on whether he's still in the hospital at this hour. another stabbing under investigation. a man and woman are in critical condition at this hour. several other guys reportedly stabbed them outside the red lounge bar on 14th street overnight. so far, no arrests. tonight's storm team 4, keeping an eye on those skies.

by 2:00. tomorrow, it's warm, humid. there's that air quality alert, maybe an isolated afternoon thunderstorm. because of that, the weather having a low to medium impact on your day. i'll be talking about temperatures tomorrow and the rest of the workweek temperatures coming up in about ten minutes. back here in the u.s. we've learned that an american doctor infected with the ebola virus is improving. he is being treated in atlanta. nancy writebol is expected to arrive in the u.s. on tuesday. the centers of disease control will send 50 workers to africa later this month to help stop that outbreak. we foe that this recent ebola outbreak has claimed over 800 victims, among them a physician who had strong ties to maryland.

we are live where the doctor's american family held a prayer service. >> reporter: there's a war going on in western every africa. not being fought with bullets. today they're remembering a doctor who's done that, just that. dr. sheik khan fell victim to the ebola virus. >> fortunately he saved about over 100 patients. >> reporter: at a memorial service, local family members, immediate and extended came to celebrate his life and life's work. it was a calling, one that had consumed most of his 39 years and started when he was 15 after he read an article about another doctor. ironically that doctor died as

well. it was a mix of muslim and american and traditions. he has garnered hero status in the country where doctors have had to weigh the danger. >> invariably people are afraid to go out because for fear if they die, who is going to take care of their kids. >> reporter: it's action behind this gathering, the announcement of ha foundation in dr. khan's name to steward those who want to pursue the profession. in that way they say his life and death were not in vain. and among the other goals of that foundation will be to support the families of those doctors who have succumbed to this disease while they are fighting it. while they do battle on this

microbial level, they want to make sure that no one is left behind. right now, marion berry is out of the hospital after allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road and crashing his car. it happened last night on pennsylvania avenue southeast. a spokes woman says he suffered a hypoglycemic attack while driving and became disoriented police charged barry with driving on the wrong side of the road and cited him for expired tags. he sent this message out on twitter. there's no place like home, i'm out of the hospital and home resting. thank you for all your prayers and concerns. a city on a lake that can't use the water. what it's thousand going to take to get the pipes flowing again. an attack on the job. now the search is on for the person who did it in a place buzzing with local family.

right now in northern virginia, a community is desperate to find a man behind a sexual assault. it happened at a local pool in the falls church area. he approached a 20 year old woman who worked at the pool,

struck up a conversation with her and at some point got violent. >> he displayed a wep and and sensually assaulted the victim before fleeing. >> right now police do not have a good description of the suspect but hope to get more details so they can put together a composite sketch. new details about a wild chase and crash. we brought this thouo you last night at 6:00. it brought traffic to a grinding halt. they pulled over erica oliver. they say they arrested her for past charges, but then they said while they were doing that, her passenger, anthony mccrea jumped into the passenger seat and took off. as police chased him he caused a crash that left six people including himself hurt. he could soon be facing many more charges because of that crash. a big development tonight in the conflict in the middle east. we'll tell you why many troops ons the ground are actually

netanyahu said he'd reassess their mission once destroying the tunnels was complete. more than 1800 palestinians and more than 60 israelis have reportedly been killed in 26 days of fighting. our first look at a mess that polluted the skies. a bunch of tires and debris caught fire. firefighters still on the scene, we're told, making sure the flames are completely out. no word yet on what sparked the fire. we can tell you, no one was hurt. it's another day without water in toledo, ohio. they can't bathe or shower in it. and boiling it won't do any

love that shot. so if you have plans to grill outside tonight, i would go ahead with it. areas to the north, washington, frederick counties, loudon county. if you do see rain it could be potentially heavy but brief in nature. it will be humid through wednesday. the humidity lowers on thursday minor rain chances throughout the weak. for the most part it's in the 80s, 82 in frederick. for the majority of the evening hours, after the sun goes down, just after 8:00 we'll be noticing temperatures in the 70s. and tomorrow morning you'll be starting off your day with temperatures in the low 70s.

so a mild start, a nice monday morning. in fact, tomorrow, all in all, pretty nice for a day in august. it will be humid, but it's not goo be, extremelyhot. our high tomorrow, 87, we'll hit that at about 3:00 in the afternoon. maybe an isolated shower, should that stop you from taking the kids to the pool? absolutely not. here we are he midday hours where we're seeing plenty of sunshine, again, only about a 20% chance of seeing any showery activity. there's the battle of the beltways tomorrow afternoon as the orioles return to play the nationals. first pitch just after 7:00. and it will be a great night for baseball. temperatures in the low 80s at the first pitch. by the last out we'll be in the mid to upper 70s. now tuesday, maybe an afternoon

shower or thunderstorm around, hot and humid, a high of 90. better chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms on wednesday. that could linger into thursday morning. this is a cold front moving in wednesday night into thursday. that's going to lower the humidity. next saturday we are keeping a close eye on an area of low pressure that could bring heavy rain saturday night into sunday morning. but the timing on this may change. we could see that arriving a little earlier. stay with storm team 4 as we continue to monitor the forecast. coming up in sports, a d.c. legend hangs up the mic.
