we just checked the latest numbers. most of the power outages are concentrated in month gomry county. are these storms going to be around for the morning commute? >> the storms should bout by 2:00. so the morning commute not impacted by heavy rain. but i am still tracking rein moving through the district, making its way momentarily into alexandria. the heaviest up around baltimore, but nonetheless we're still looking at heavy rain moving through washington right now. some timing for you, this tracks to the southeast at about 15 miles per hour. now we can't rule out some small hail and gusts up to 50 miles per hour as this line does make its way through the area, making

its way through mt. vernon and clinton in the next few minutes. with future weather, notice by 2:00, any activity in southern maryland quickly exiting the area. here's 5:00 where tom will be in updating the morning forecast. no threat of storms tomorrow morning, but what about the afternoon? temperatures tomorrow, warmer than today. just how much warmer? we'll let you know about ten minutes. meantime, here we go. some of you could be in for what will be a long commute tomorrow. a huge summit about to get under way, which means, expect those detours. so many that we're going to be helping you out here. derek ward's standing by with what's in store for you as you head out tomorrow. >> reporter: well, as you can z some of those roadblocks and closures are already in place like the one here at 29th street between m and k. get used to it. you're going to see a lot more of these around downtown d.c. some of the closures are already

in place. and some will be clearly evident by rush hour to commuters who haven't gotten the word. there's a summit in town. and for the next several days, flashing lights and limos will all go into the mix of daily d.c. traffic. >> we've been working with the federal government to make sure we're fully prepared for this. i think there will be some inconveniences. there's no way to avoid that. >> reporter: the u.s./africa summit will host countries from around the continent. commuters will have to put up with changing traffic patterns. >> we're pretty good at managing traffic in the city. this will be a lot of delegation simultaneously. >> reporter: you can just think of it as doing your part to foster international goodwill from your car. >> being part of the district of columbia, even though we want to be a state doesn't mean we don't

reception for the u.s./africa summit. he says he had a diabetic attack behind the wheel last night that caused him to crash his car on pennsylvania southeast. >> my blood sugar went low, and when it does that you can become disoriented. in fact, you can die, really, if it got so low. but god is good to me. and i got disoriented and went to the wrong side of the street. >> sources say that police cited him for driving on the wrong side and having expired tags. an actor from the hit show "the wire" stabbed at a d.c. nightclub is thanking his supporters. it was on i street northwest. at least two people attacked glover on the second floor of the club. glover said he had to defend himself against, quote, unknown

attackers. glover, who's also a local go go musician said he'd been at cafe asia to support another act. he says he's out of the hospital and recovering right now. another nightclub stabbing in the busy u street area under investigation. a man and woman were taken to the hospital in critical condition early this morning. several men reportedly stabbed them outside the red lounge bar. so far no arrests have been made. a renowned doctor with ties to maryland killed by the ebola virus. the doctor's family and friends are calling him a hero. they held a prayer service for him. i was leading the effort ainst the virus in sierra leone when he contracted the virus and died. his brother says he dedicated his life to finding a cure. >> invariably, people right now are running around and are afraid to go around people because they fear if they die who is going to take care of

their kids. >> they have created a foundation in his name and hope to provide a secondary school for those who want to have a career in medicine. so far 800 people have died from that outbreak. but there is hope for an american doctor recovering in atlanta. a new drug may save his life. >> reporter: before his treatment it began at emery hospital, dr. kent brantly, the first person ever treated for ebola in the u.s. received an experimental drug while he was in africa. today samaritan's purse released a written statement which reads in part, we have learned that kept was able to receive a dose of an experimental serum. his early treatment and recovery appears to be going well. >> he seems to be improved from

annual fund-raisers in her name. they have a group called help save the next girl. also new tonight, a second concert-goer has died from a suspected drug overdose at a music festival in maryland. the victim is a 17 year old boy from woodbridge, virginia. he was attending a block party in columbia. his name has not been released. last night we did tell you about a 20 year old raleigh man who also died. as many as 20 others went to the hospital. most had used a form of ecstasy known as mdma or commonly known as molly. the star witness in the corruption trial surrounding former virginia governor bob mcdonnell is back on the stand tomorrow. jonnie williams is expected to testify for a fourth day about the $165,000 in gift the and loans he gave to mcdonnell and his wife maureen. prosecutors accuse the

take a look at the mess that polluted the air in northeast d.c. this afternoon. firefighters had to work for several hours to put out a fire at a trash transfer station near the ft. taughten metro. it would continue to smolder for more than five hours. no one was hurt, but still no word at this hour what sparked that fire. don't drink the water, don't

use it to cook with or bathe in it. algae bloom was found in the city's water supply. the governor has declared a state of mm and says it could take days for that to be fixed. >> one thing to know is everybody is on this. nobody is asleep at the wheel, and we are not going to get off of this until this entire thing gets solved, no matter how long it takes. >> more tests need to be done to make sure the toxins are completely out of the water supply. water stations are set up around toledo. a positive sign in the middest conflict has not managed to stop the violence. israel pulled most of its ground troops from the gaza strip after 26 days of clashes with hamas. but hamas is vowing to continue the battle. an israeli air strike killed at least 10 people near a shelter that belonged to the u.n.

more than 60 israelis and 1800 palestinians have been killed in the last month. if they can't find their remains, they want their belongings. that's what family members want tonight. the remains of 80 passengers still missing. crews began their search over the weekend. >> didn't find any human remains in this area, but we did find a lot of perm belongings like passports, baggage and suitcases and so on. >> the family members of the missing have told investigators that personal belongings from the crash site would be proof enough that their loved one has died. some remains were found this weekend and are being examined by forensic experts. back here at home, a lot of commuters are in for a welcome change. the closed portion of this road

is about to reopen. it has been closed for the past two months, a big inconvenience for the 15,000 cars that pass through the intersection each day. they have been reworking the area to accommodate increased traffic around the walter reed medical center. it should be back up and open for the morning rush. public transit takes a big step tomorrow. d.-dot will start training streetcar operators. drivers and cyclists should use extra caution. passenger service for the streetcars is expected to start later this year. all right, amelia. we've heard the thunder, the lightning. we heard it here in the studio, too. obviously some rain coming down, but the question is as we rook to the morning commute, is that going to be affecting folks? >> no. and that's the good news. tomorrow will be a dry day.

dry, and a high of 83, just a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm. the good news, though, if you're heading to the nationals game tomorrow, the battle of the beltways at nats park, it's looking like nice baseball weather. first pitch, temperatures will be in the low 80s. by the last out will be in the mid-70s. so mild throughout the entire game. now on tuesday, it's hot, it's humid. there could be an afternoon shower or thunderstorm around. little bit better chance for rain later in the day on wednesday with a high temperature of 91, and here's why. we'll be tracking this cold front moving through the area, still looking at some rain maybe lingering on into thursday. more comfortable, a high of 86. for saturday, a high temperature of 83. the humidity is low, and storm team 4 also keeping track of an

back-to-back wins. and this team is finally starting to separate themselves from the rest of the nl east division. right now they have a three and a half game lead over the atlanta braves. this division is the nats to lose. a fan favorite signing autographs before the game. they also like this guy, too, stephen strasburg. he hadn't won a game since july 1, getting some help from his defense. cabrera making a great play at second, robbing jimmy rollins of the hit. second time he's done that this series. strasburg, he likes the good defense there. he didn't need much help today. strasburg had ten strikeouts in the game. seven innings of shut out baseball. and the a's win it. and they'll take on the o's tomorrow. that game against the orioles is a makeup game for the nationals.
