seeing sunshine that doesn't mean the threat of heavy weather is over. yet another band of showers and storms could move in over the next couple of hours. >> for others the damage has already been done. montgomery county firefighters rescued at least seven people from flooded cars over the course of a couple of hours earlier today. one of the rescues included this woman in tacoma park. >> an unwelcome site for some commuters. the commuter parking lot was inundated today. six inches of water in some of the cars. >> the ride home is a slow one. the rain left a layer. raised the danger of hydroplaning. tonight we have a team of reporters covering everything from conditions to close calls. let's begin with adam tuss live in kensington, maryland. >> reporter: well, the rain stopped a while ago here but the water is still here. take a look.

this is beach drive near cedar lane. you can see the water is starting to recede a little bit. it is still covering the roadway around the curb. that is why the road is still closed here. earlier today we watched as a woman tried to make her way around that curb. she got stuck and yes had to be rescued. this is not the siati you want to find yourself in ever. water up to your door and flashing lights. this is how fast it can happen. she found out the hard way. water rescue teams putting her in a raft and slowly guiding her back to safety. she called 911 immediately when she got stuck. >> it just came out of nowhere. the car in front of me stalled or stopped so i thought it got stuck in the water so i thought i would go around it. and what basically happened is i got in deeper water.

>> reporter: she was lucky. you can see how fast the water level was rising. it is pouring. this is beach drive near cedar lane. wasn't long ago you could see this entire road here. we have about six to eight inches of water completely covering the roadway. it wasn't long ago that that car tried to make its way through here and got stuck. montgomery county fire and rescue crews have been busy and are warning keep your guard up for the rest of the night. back here live a tidbit about the car stuck earlier. it's not there right now. the rain and the water carried it away. the woman doesn't know where it is. the fire crews ha to looking for it. they think it may have ended up in the main channel of rock creek. reporting live in kensington, adam tuss, news 4. our coverage continues with kristin wright in laurel, maryland, where some commuters will not find cars where they left them. >> reporter: that's right. just a little while ago a crew

came out to the commuter lot and they removed a large amount of leaves and muck from the storm drain. the rain also slowed down the water receded but not soon enough for some commuters. a woman returning to her car in laurel did not find her nissan where she left it. called in a commuter truck to move cars to a short distance to the american legion next door. we watched as the tow company moved the woman's nissan earlier. the city says the tow to drier ground is a service but there is frustration. >> we didn't get the notice until about a half an hour ago. it is wet. yep. >> reporter: there are signs here in the commuter lot that

read parking areas prone to flooding and they sure weren't kidding. the tow company says they moved about five or six cars this afternoon. >> thank you. as the flood waters recede there is still the potential for more bad weather tonight. let's check in with veronica johnson tracking the conditions from storm center 4. how bad is it going to get tonight? >> not for everybody. not the kind of heavy rain we saw earlier today. certainly there is the possibility of isolated strong severe thunderstorms that could lend themselves to very heavy rain. shady side getting 7.3 inches of rain today. baltimore washington international over three. that is one reason we are continuing under a flash flood watch for underlying counties until 2:00 a.m., flood warning until 6:45 for the areas shaded in red for baltimore. areas like annapolis, too. we have had quite a few roads

off his many talents, his incredible range. offscreen those who knew him are talking about his generosity. as we bring in jay gray and tom sherwood to talk about robin williams he always tried to make people smile no matter what it was with which he was dealing. jay? >> reporter: jim, a lot of people today saying there was really nothing robin williams couldn't do either on the screen or off talking about that generosity. a memorial going here outside of his home and in other areas across the country tied to the legendary actor. those who knew him and frids who felt like they did all continue to look for answers. a day later, the shock of robin williams' death is starting to give way to the realization that the man who made the world smile ultimately could not escape the dark sadness he felt inside.

>> he was just so giving, so amazing and we are all shocked. i mean, you never know the depth of depression. >> reporter: today investigators confirmed williams's death was a suicide. >> the preliminary results of the forensic examination reveal supporting physical signs that mr. williams' life ended from asphyxia due to hanging. >> reporter: authorities won't know if drugs played a role in his death until toxicology tests are complete. officers won't say if there was a suicide note but it is what williams did leave behind that so many are clinging to right now. >> good morning, vietnam! >> a legacy of iconic films, television shows and outrageous standup routines. >> i'm melting. >> someone who touched so many different people over so many decades in so many different

kinds of projects. >> his unique sense of humor and timing and compassion revealing the piece of williams' soul and touching the souls of millions around the world now drawn to the places that he made special to honor and remember a legendary entertainer gone too soon. >> he had a beautif soul, a brilliant mind and he cld ma us double over with laughter when we were sad. >> a sadness that lingers now that the man who made so many laugh has suddenly left the stage. >> reporter: the coroner's office announced they have released williams' body to his family. there is no word of a memorial or funeral service at this point. >> thank you. robin williams' legacy will live on here in the washington area. he was a master when it came to improv. news 4's tom sherwood visited

where a helicopter crashed earlier today on sinjar mountain according to iraqi military officials. this was a scene yesterday as helicopters arrivedithe aid. the "new york times" says two journalists were on the iraqi chopper that crashed. they survived by the pilot was killed. the u.s. was delivering aid to the area while launching air strikes. no word on what led to today's crash. a second nigio protests in missouri gave way to another rally today. the rising tension is because of a deadly police shooting of an unarmed black teenager. pat lawson muse has the latest on the case that has captured national attention. >> reporter: the calls for justice today are stretching from here in washington all the way to missouri. this is all centered in suburban st. louis. an officer shot michael brownn

breaking news tonight on the case of a little girl gunned down in landover, maryland. investigators say devon antoine wallace shot and killed 3-year-old bibb on saturday. we go to shomari stone who just witnessed police going into a house with guns drawn. >> reporter: police just walked into a home searching and searched a shed in the back of the home according to the person who lives there. now, we have video of this but are not showing it. we are holding it until we get the okay from police because these officers could possib streams, creeks slowly receding.
