we interviewed him several times. talk about universally beloved. that is what he was. i don't think he had an enemy on earth. >> and beloved through generations. i remember sitting at the table almost like a wave of people learning about the news. younger people were talking about "aladdin" and things like that. i was thinking i loved him in all of his comedic roles like "mrs. doubtfire" but something about the dramatic roles. >> one of my all-time favorites was "dead poets society". it made you believe in writing. he was so transformative. >> i thought he deserved the oscar for that one. >> he won only one for "good will hunting". >> they are saying that the cause is suspected suicide by asphyxiation. >> there will be more to come on that. >> an autopsy being done today. the despair that someone has to be in to make that choice. philip philip seymour hoffman we

think was an overdose. to choose to end your life. he won oscars. he had family that he loved. the last instagram was a picture with his daughter. >> it was her birthday and he used an old picture. he had three great kids, was married. he had a career that was still continuing. he has four movies still to be coming out later. it wasn't as if someone was saying what ever happened to robin williams. >> i love what matt did earlier about how we remember him as the guy that would come in and a lot of people come to sell their movie or book or whatever and they are in and out. most people are polite. he literally did make it -- he did standup everywhere he went. >> he met the crew members.

>> he was so gracious to everybody. i hated to see him leave the room. he is very bow legged. there is such a profound sense of sadness when he would leave because he is so joyful. gary marshall said he could make everyone happy but himself. steve martin said i cannot be more stunned by the loss of robin williams. >> the think is a lot of people come and do business and sell their movie and leave. he would stay and greet the crowd. he enjoyed people. he liked being around them. >> maybe that is when he wasn't battling his demons. if you want to laugh my favorite i think of all of his is "the bird cage". >> that is great. >> it is just genius. "mrs. doubtfire". we heard rumors they are going to be doing a sequel to that. our love to his family.

moving on we have a couple of other items to get to. i don't know if you are aware of this, but half of the people out there do not know their neighbors. they couldn't pick them out of a lineup because they are busy in their own lives doing their own thing. we wanted to know if the era of the neighborhood is over. >> we are the post human society. we are more for the first time in all of history, more comfortable with technology than with actual human beings. that does not bode well for the future. this doesn't either. >> when i was a kid we knew every neighbor. >> schneiders. we knew all the way up and down the street. now it is like who is that? >> you live in an apartment building now. i know all of our neighbors.

when the governor signed that he was standing in the -- he mandated standing in the garden of cody house and mandated unblinding of hiv testing. next year was the first year the aids death rate went down because the aids birth rate went down. then it was adopted by every other state. >> that is really great. >> we bonded over that. you see what happens when you sue to the state. in his defense rarely do you hear politicians say -- i explained to him one night what would happen if the women got the cocktail. he said i didn't know that. number two, we are on the wrong side of this issue and then he said i'm going to do something about that. i left that night thinking yeah right. within one month he mandated. we need more people like that. we have a lot coming out.
