he's been interviewed. for the latest we go to nbc's jay gray. >> good evening. frustration concerns continue to grip the community now as they search for a way to restore order after more than a week of violence here. as protesters and police return to the streets of ferguson and michael brown's family continues their call for a full and transparent investigation into their son's death. >> justice will bring peace. >> we know a st. louis grand jury will hear evidence tomorrow in the shooting investigation. the prosecutor's office has confirmed the officer involved in the shoot, darren wilson, has been interviewed by investigators and will have the chance at some point to testify before the grand jury. that after another police-involved shooting this afternoon. just a few miles from the scene in ferguson, st. louis city police shot and killed a 23-year-old black man who witnesses say was acting

>> other news nowment we are getting a first look at the mother police say was killed by her boyfriend in prince william and prince georges county. family and friends are heart broken chantal lewis's sons will grow up without their mother. darcy spencer has reaction to this. >> good evening. the victim was found here inside her own home by her mother. tonight we spoke to a close family friend. >> it's real tough. >> reporter: her eyes fill with tears when asked about the woman who grew up next door. the mother of two boys was found stabbed to death in her home here in prince georges county. >> she spent a lot of time around me. i used to pick them up from day care from time to time for ms. lewis and mr. lewis. we're just real close-knit in the neighborhood.

>> chantal lewis lived in this house in landover. police say this man, a former boyfriend, stabbed her and slashed her throat during an argument that took off in her mother's car. >> we determined that our the victim had been in mr. campbell several hours before she was found deceased. >> reporter: lewis's mother didn't want to speak on camera. she went to the house with the boys monday morning when she couldn't reach her daughter. she walk withed in and found her daughter's lifeless body on the floor. >> chantal was a good mother. very loving, understanding, easy to get along with. >> reporter: lewis was a medical technician at children's medical hospital and she was studying cosmetology. she and campbell had broken up but police say lewis picked up campbell, brought him to her home before she was killed. >> i was relieved to know he will not go free another night.

>> reporter: we checked the court record database. the suspect hats an extensive record of arrests, violent crimes including assault and domestic violence. he's being held tonight without bond. darcy spencer, news 4. >> thanks, darcy. president obama tonight has been briefed about what might be the murder of a missing american journalist. also a threat from the islamic militant group isis or isil as it is known that another reporter will die if the u.s. doesn't stop air strikes in iraq. we have chosen not to show the video. it's too graphic. it shows militants killing james foley who was kidnapped while reporting in syria nearly two years ago. the white house isn't can commenting on the video. two u.s. officials told the associated press tonight they believe the video is authentic. foley's mother released a statement moments ago. she says we have never been prouder of our son jim.

funding for state public integrity unit if the leaderer of the unit didn't resign. she had been convicted of drunk driving. perry is accused of intimidating her in an effort to tors her to resign and vetoing funding after she refused. >> we turn to the weather now. more chances for showers as we head through the week. doug says there is a light at the end of the tunnel this weekend, i hope. doug? >> it does include this weekend, especially during the day on sunday. sunday looks like a good day. as far as what we are seeing now, warm conditions. that's what we saw today. 86 degrees the high in d.c. that's average. but the humidity felt more like the upper 80s today. 83 in fredricksburg. storm team 4 rar is clear. it will stay that way in through the day tomorrow. if you're headed toward the bus stop a lot of schools starting to get back now.

ben chasen won the seat left open when phil paket resigned this year. democrats held onto the house seat in northern virginia. rip sullivan beat dave foster in the 48th district including arlington and mclean. >> there are new allegations tonight of political pressure from state democrats in prince georges county. the committee in charge of getting democrats to the polls and fund-raising in the county voted for new leadership tonight. state party leaders demanded a new open vote from the democrat aric central committee after a secret reballot election in july. some local board members say it is an effort to control county politics. tracy wilkins will have more tomorrow on news 4 at 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00. >> the d.c. fraternal order of police plans to endorse david catanya in the race for mayor. he is an independent candidate
