another nice of peaceful protests in ferguson has missouri's governor orders the national guard to continue pulling out. about 100 people gathered last night. police say they arrested 7, but overall, it was a good night. >> we had to respond to fewer incidents tonight. there were no molotov cocktails, no fires, no shootings. we did not see a single hand gun. >> the railroad arrests were m failure too disperse. shoot! >> things calmer in ferguson, and here in our area, protests have been popping up. dozens of people gathered outside the white house for the day of rage demonstration. there were no problems between

today. follow her on tweter etwitter kerry nbcwashington.com. school starts on monday for kids in matter wlafrryland and . the district announced changes to school boundary map yesterday. the changes start taking effect in 2015. next year students will be allowed to keep their current school if they don't want to move. boundaries were changed to address overcrowding and underused schools. today a special tribute to chuck brown. we have just a few hours from a celebration in his honor. megan mcgrath joining us at langdon park to tell us what will be happening there today. >> reporter: good morning. as you can see, they have taken down a lot of the fencing now. we're able to get quite close to

and taken to the hospital. but i called campus police. not giving us any official details yet on whether the victim is a student. and no motive given yet. and we still didn't know how this will impact classes on campus. classes started just monday of this week. that school located about 20 miles south ofrichmond. as soon as we get more information, we'll bring to you. a developing story this morning. a patient at a california hospital that was tested for ebola does not have the disease. the patient spent a most in south africa before returning to sacramento. that patient was isolated. ebola has killed nearly 1400 people in west africa. that's where two americans were working when they contracted that deadly virus. dr. brantly and nancy writebol, a nurse, are recovering and they want people to remember thousands are dieing in africa.

in liberia, officials are roping off slums to keep people from spreading the virus. dr. brantley significant says he remembers the moment he went from doctor to patient. >> as i lay in my bed getting sicker and weaker each day, i prayed that god would help me be faithful even in my ill ths. >> doctors at emory hospital say both patients are not showing any signs of ebola in their blood and they don't pose a health risk to the rest of the country. coming up next on the "today" show, an exclusive interview with nancy writebol's sons. she contracted the disease and her sons will talk about how their other is doing. that is at 7:00. later today, there is a hearing for rick perry. but the likelihood of his being here is slim. perry is accused of being a busing pow foredenying fund to go a district attory who received a dui. and then refused to step down.

he was indicted by a grand jury last week. a warning to take a closer look at an atm before you you swipe your card. thieves put even more skimming devices on machines to steal your money. surveillance cameras snapped clear shots of these men. you can see them actually attaching the atm or the skimmers to the atm. this is this fairfax county. these were all at 12 navy federal credit union last month. earlier this summer, thieves put skimmers on sun trust bank atms. police say there are ways to protect your money. >> keep a close eye on any expenditures being used on their credit cards, their banking cards, debit cards, all of it. >> also be alert when you get your money. police say look for the loose parts on the atm. a lot of types these guys simply attach the skimmers with tape. so heads up for that.

>> a pair of scam artists had the tables turned on them when the elderly woman they robbed had help arrested. this is 92-year-old violet. she says two men came into her long island home last week claiming to be chimney workers. they said they had an appointment there. while she was distracted outside, the second stole prescription drugs and $165 from inside the home. violet says the thieves did not stop there. they told her she would come back and fix her chimney for $3,000. violet decided to do some investigating here. when she looked through her phone book and couldn't find a listing for the company the men claimed to work forks she called police. >> you folks tell your folks to be careful. they might not realize but they could be a victim next. >> when the two suspects returned to do that clim any work, police were there waiting for them. they both have been charged with burglary. >> good for her.

southeast. that's right outside fort chaplin park. we're told the victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. >> one person is recovering from a fire that he or she tried to fight in alexandria. that person called 911 after failing to puthe fire out. this is some pictures from within of the napes. it happened on north picket street and the person inside was burned but we're told is recovering this morning. a cat and dog died in the fire. it did about $250,000 worth of damage about th damage. there is at oe campus of james madison university. last night, though, police and students got a good scare because police responded to reports of a gun in potomac hall, a dorm there. but when they arrived, they only found an orange tipped toy air

keep up with julie carey who is following every development. julie kewe [ at ju. andrew kugler will learn whether he will spend life behind bars for murdering his ex-girlfriend. he killed her back in 2012 beause he was angry after they broke up. the murder was the first in berwyn heights in 21 years. kids go back to school on monday in much of maryland and d.c.. and for some kids in the district, this year may be the last year in their current school building. the district announced changes to its school boundary map yesterday. they start taking effect in 2015 gradually. next year students will be allowed to keep their current school if they don't want to move. the boundaries were changed to adjust for overcrowded or underused schools and to address

travel and safety issues. new research confirms something many families in our areas are feeling. the rich are getting richer and it's tough out there for people who are not wealthy. bertha coombs is here to share the new data. >> reporter: yeah, the latest figures confirm what a lot will of us have experienced, that the rich have gotten a lot richer and the poor have not. between 2000 and 2011, the wealth gap has widened with the top 40% seeing their income thrive, while those in the bottom 60% have actually seen their income fall over that decade. a lot of it having to do depending on where you're g getting your income. wages are stagnant, while we have the stock market at all-time highs in terms of the s&p 500, which yesterday closed at its 28th all-time high of the

amelia segal, joining us with the forecast. >> showers mainly later today. and as far as the rain is concerned, most of the day will be dry. it's that summer activity where you see the thunderstorms bubble up, it moves through and then you might even see the sun peeking out. it's the hot and humid again. temperatures right now in the upper 60s. low 70s across the area. manassas and leesburg coming in at 70. 74 is the temperature in washington. 64 in gaithersburg. a check of the satellite and radar, this as the clouds and rain across the area as the sun continues to come up on your friday. i've been keeping a close eye on this rain in west virginia all morning. you can see it continues to advance toward the east. the reds, yellows and ors faora falling out of it, so it's weakening. but i think it will bring light showers the midday hours and all of the moisture back in ohio extending further back to the west will continue to try to work either way into our area
