murdered. his body parts were put into multiple trash bags. it is a difficult story for people to hear. >> reporter: some residents here putting down stuffed animal and flowers at one of the scenes of this apartment complex. what happened here was a murder, a murder beyond death itself, a murder with a message. so who and why could someone do something like this? princeç police outgoing door to door looking for a murder scene, a scene that could help them solve this case of murder. the victim, perez. he is 28 years old. they say he is a day laborer who lived in this complex for a

couple of months. he was killed and dismembered. his body parts found in trash bags spread around the apartment complex in laurel. last night police in special crime scene outfits went through a nearby dumpster and found more remains there. residents most upset by this grisly discovery. >> it is frightening. i have to walk my dog. i don't want to walk up on a trash bag or think every time i see a black trash bag there are body parts in there. >> it is terrifying. we have kids. >> reporter: you moving now? >> i am. >> reporter: a trash bag with body parts inside found in this grassy area near that bush. another trash bag found in that stand of strees down there.

a third trash bag found way down that path. now, this appears to be the work of more than one person. it appears that it happened someplace close by. there are 800 homes in this complex. police searched 39 unoccupied apartments. still no sign of the crime scene. do you think it is gang related? >> it is hard to say. it is too early on the investigation. that is what our detectives are trying to ascertain at this time. >> reporter: coming up at 6: we will hear from a resident who was out walking his door when he came upon this troubling scene. live in prince george's county, pat collins, news 4. a developing story out of virginia. the southbound side of the gw parkway is closed because of an accident. this is video of the scene. take a look. police tell us three cars were involved in this cash.

one went over an embankment. at least one person was seriously injured and is being air lifted to an area hospital. no word on when the road will reopen. the northbound side of the parkway is not affected. right now in richmond former virginia governor bob mcdonnell is still testifying about his knowledge and involvement with loans from a businessman. today began with questioning from his wife's attorney. prosecutors are grilling him again. northern virginia bureau chief julie carey has come out of the courtroom to update us. >> reporter: we are seeing a much less self-assured bob mcdonnell on the witness stand as prosecutors dig into their cross examination. every step of the way prosecutor michael dry is questioning bob mcdonnell's truthfulness challenging the contention that even though he and his family took $177,000 in gifts and loans from jonnie williams that he did nothing to help the businessman. on his way into court and on the

witness stand it was a more subdued bob mcdonnell than last week. initially his voice so soft the judge told him to speak up. >> seems this morning he has been struggling some. >> reporter: it was contentious as prosecutor began cross examination hammering with a series of rapid fire questions. you don't deny mr. williams paid $15,000 for wedding expenses and gave your wife a $50,000 loan and on and on. dry challenged the former governor's earlier testimony that he was in the dark when williams paid for maureen's $19,000 new york shopping spree. did your wife have a history of making inappropriate requests for money from friends and family? mcdonnell, yes. it didn't occur to you that williams was picking up the tab on that trip. >> okay replied dry.

their point. the female soldier whose outburst caused an army base in virginia to lockdown this morning has died. the sergeant first class shot herself in a building here at fort lee south of richmond this morning. the army said she went into a command office and began throwing papers and other objects around and then barricaded herself on the third floor. the woman joined the army 14 years ago. she has not been identified. there were no protests during a day of mourning for michael brown, the unarmed teenager shot and killed by a police officer two weeks ago in ferguson, missouri. he was laid to rest today and remembered as a loving young man with a bright future. >> he just wanted so much to go to college and have a family. he wanted to be a good father. but god chose differently. >> brown was shot six times during a confrontation with a white police officer.

his death set off a wave of protests that turned the spot light on issues of racism and police conduct in ferguson. brown's parents asked for a day of silence as they buried their son and reverend al sharpton challenged the community to make sure brown's death isn't in vein. >> we are required to here today and change things. michael brown must be remembered for more than disturbances. >> brown's parents didn't speak today but did write messages on a funeral card. his father wrote i couldn't protect you but we love you. i will never let you die in my heart. his mother wrote you were the purpose in my life. now the focus turns to what happens next.

>> reporter: the funeral here just wrapped up a short time ago. they were expecting capacity and got just that. church officials tell us about 4,500 people were inside the sanctuary for a funeral that at times was somber and other times it was a very spirited celebration of michael brown jr.'s life which is precisely what his family said they wanted. i talked to them yesterday. his mom and dad said they wanted their son to be remembered for the young man he was and the young man he might have become. they also said they wanted protests to cease especially for today. they said they wanted this to be a day of remembrance and a day of silence. you that the people here in this part of st. louis respected that request. we have not seen protesters out today.

all eyes will be watching tonight. all eyes will be on ferguson until mid october when the local prosecutor said that we might expect charmgs against police officer. >> more police officers are patrolling a busy stretch of 14th street after a series of armed robberiy srobberies, two hair salons. half are in columbia heights all in a stretch about a quarter mile north of the metro station. the most recent involved a general store and the other two were hair salons. they happened while customers were inside. shop owners say the same group is responsible. the federal aviation administration has confirmed that a piece of an airplane did fall through a house in maryland yesterday. beverly simmons said the part landed on the floor in her home and sent pieces of dry wall and insulation all over the place.

the "washington post" the first year saw just over 30,000 drivers traveling north of route 50 of maryland. that stretch has more than 220,000 vehicles. right now for the first afternoon rush hour ever a new bus service is running in northern virginia. the metro way premium transit service shuttles between the crystal city. it runs in dedicated lanes past 22 stops along the way. there they are during peak times a bus comes by every six minutes. the new stations include weather protection, bench seating and comprehensive passenger information. soon they will offer real time passenger information and allow customers to pay fares prior to boarding. a new program can help more than a million people get better jobs. >> news 4 consumer reporter n amid a new z joins uthat hein

we begin with the double stabbing outside of school on of classes in the district. crime scene tape lined the streets and the school signs as the kids came out of calvin coolidge high school this afternoon. sources tell our jackie bensen that the victims are 19 and 17 years old. the school spokesperson says the teenagers are not d.c. public school students and it's not yet clear what led to the stabbings. now to the corruption trial of a different bob mcdonnell on the witness stand, quieter and not so confident. >> the former governor faced his first questioning from prosecutors who say he accepted cash and gifts in exchange for promoting a businessman's company. julie carey reports the foundation of the first couple's defense is now under attack. >> reporter: on his way into court and on the witness stand
