looked like. we learned all three teenagers went to sherwood high school. and derek ward spoke with a friend and grieving classmate. >> reporter: the cards and other mementoes went up while there was still hope for all the victims pulled through. now it's a memorial. >> it kind of brings closure, i guess. >> reporter: 15-year-old shawn was the rear seat passenger. authorities say he wasn't wearing a seat belt and he was thrown from the car. two other teens were in the car, 17-year-old maxwell and 17-year-old austin hall. most remain hospitalized. police say the car was heading down heinz road when it hit a tree and kept going and hit a light pole and rolled over. >> it's common to see cars speeding down there, but it's the first time an accident like this happened. >> reporter: the teens attend sherwood high school.

details and we'll update you as soon as we learn more. the coast guard has suspended its search for a pilot who blacked out and crashed his plane off the coast of virginia. search teams found the engine in a wheel but say there's little chance of finding anything else. the small plane left wisconsin saturday morning. it was scheduled to land in manassas but at one point, veered off course. investigators say it flew into restrictive air space over washington, d.c. two f-16 fighter jets scrambled to escort the plane out. those airmen confirmed the pilot was the only one on board, and he was unconscious. they followed the plan until it ran out of gas and crashed into the atlantic coalition. the plane is registered to a man in wisconsin. germany is shipping thousands of weapons to iraq to help the kurdish fighters. it will include assault file rifles, ammunition and grenades.

authorities estimate at least 800 french citizens have left to join syrian rebel groups. in april, france set up a hotline whose parents were worried about their kids. we're learning new details about a man found dead in maryland. his name is everett brown, 20 years old. investigators say someone shot and killed him. brown's body was discovered in cottage city saturday morning on the river trail. so far police don't know why anyone would kill him. he only lived a few blocks away from where his body was found. detectives canvassed the neighborhood today. tonight, we are learning more about two men killed in a crash in gaithersburg. an suv was going south and veered into the north bound lanes, went off the road, hit and tree and flipped over. the driver was thomas collier and his passenger is daniel

a man was found dead in a parking garage, but police don't think any crime was committed. officers got to the shady grove station around 2:00 this morning after someone found the body. police say it doesn't look as if there was an assault. their investigation did not affect any metro operations at shady grove. tonight, a popeye's chicken restaurant in maryland has become a crime scene after a woman who works there was found murdered in the store. the popeye's is in brooklyn park on ritchie highway. the manager opened up this morning and in the back stock room, he discovered a woman's

body. police say she has significant injuries to her body. she worked last night, but detectives are still trying to figure out who had a motive to hurt her. police are asking anyone who went to the popeye's haste night to give them a call. three days after joan rivers went into cardiac arrest, her family remains hopeful that she'll be okay. her daughter released a statement saying the family is keeping their fingers crossed and thanking people for support. she was undergoing a minor procedure in manhattan thursday when her heart stopped. she's 81 years old but looked to be in good health just the day before. some kids have gone back to class. we'll tell you about some changes come thing school year aimed at keeping kids safe. it's a busy night. prince william, fauquier county, montgomery, fairfax counties under a severe thunderstorm warning.

severe thunderstorm warning until 7:15. i'm going to step out to get rid of that dinging and focus on the rest of the forecast. moving through the evening hours, the potential for heavy rain until about 9:00, 10:00 tonight and scattered showers after that. a heat wave. it started today and runs through friday. that means high temperatures at least at 90 degrees or higher. monday and tuesday during the afternoon, feeling like temperatures are above 100 degrees. i'll also post that online so you can check it out. a wide variety of temperatures because of the rain. 91 in washington. temperature forecasts throughout the evening, temperatures will continue to fall but only to around 80 degrees by midnight. mild and muggy. here's your forecast for tomorrow. a cloudy and dry start on labor day. it's dry for most of the day, only about a 30% chance that you're dealing with an afternoon

practice squad rosters. the redskins, like all teams, had their roster set, but that didn't keep them from making moves today. the team claimed a player from the broncos. last season he started 17 games in denver. richard crawford and chase menefield, all back with the redskins. also safety phillip thomas, robert thomas, running back chris thompson with wide receiver nick williams, making it eight signed players to the practice squad. the team has two more spots remaining. and michael sam who was cut yesterday by the rams, he was not claimed by any team off waivers. sam was the first openly gay player drafted in the nfl back in may. let's switch gears to baseball. the nationals going for the sweep today in seattle. their nine-game road trip didn't get off to a great start in philly but looks like they're back on track now.
