maryland. folks are telling me they are waiting to see what happens and police are determined to catch his killer. >> prince george's county police pass out flyers in hyattsville. as they talk to people in this tight-knit community about a murder. 32-year-old miguel stabbed to death on a sidewalk around 4:00 this morning. >> we are very sad in this situation because miguel was a really nice person. >> this is our responsibility, regardless of the tragic. >> the direct over casa de maryland, a civil rights org any ziegs focussing on immigrant rights. miguel's body was found across the street from their headquarters. this evening, the community honored miguel at a vigil on the front steps. >> we still don't know what happened. we are calling our community. they are noticing, police communicate with the police. >> miguel lived in an apartment

with his cousins. torrez tells me he was a landscaper who took care of his wife and kids in guatemala. police don know why he was killed, and they have no leads in this case. >> we are trying to gather information. we have no clue what was the reason for the crime. >> while homicide detectives investigate this community waits for answers. >> we talk to police and the police is going to resolve the situation. >> and tonight police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in this case. live here in hyattsville, i'm shemar i stone. >> police are trying to find out how someone left a baby to died. the baby was 17 months old. someone found him at a car parked near the patuxent river. the naval investigative service

couple hours. he and president biden talk tough and promise to take action against isis, the militant group executed two american journalists in the past few weeks. >> our objective is clear. that is to degrade and destroy isis so it is it no longer a threat. >> they should know, we will follow them into the gates of hell until they are brought to justice. >> later, president obama seemed to change his position saying the goal is to get to a point are isis quote manageable problem. critics say that doesn't go far enough and the president needs to give a clear strategy on isis. firefighters are trying to knock down a huge fire in an apartment complex. it turn node a nine-alarm fire. firefighters were concerned the building would collapse on them and had to evacuate. two of them went to the hospital along with two bystanders who had minor injuries.

turning to weather now. the return of the humidity before the weekend. doug, sounds like it might get a little uncomfortable outside. >> i tell you what, chris, after yesterday's 100 degree heat index, today felt much, much nicer across the area. still on the warm side. temperatures above average. a high temperature of 89 today. you can notice almost no 90s on the board. 84 in leesburg. over the next few days, our humidity will be going up. tomorrow gets warmer, more humidity on friday. saturday, very hot and very human. wid a good chance of not only some storms but the potential for strong to severe storms. that then brings through much cooler conditions in towards next week. we will talk all about it, break it down for you and be back in a minute. >> tonight can you add another publication to the growing list of agencies who refuse to use the name redskins. the editorial says the paper

won't use the team's name because it is derogatory to native americans. the headline reads, sack the name. the headlines won't even use the logo, just a burgundy and gold image. the paper says quote the inescapable truth is that it the term red skin dearrives solely from the racial characteristic of the skin tone in an era when we should be color blind. >> the boil water could be in effect for another 24 hours. it impacted 11 communities, all because after 24-inch watermain that broke last night in hyattsville. some schools and businesses took precaution today but stayed open. brought in extra water and boiled everything they got from the faucet. a spokesperson says it is all precautionary. they tested the water and haven't found any actual contamination.

d-dot laid out new rules. now bicyclists are worried that the line will push them right off h street. this is a heated debate, jacki.? >> reporter: good evening, from h street, chris. under the proposed rules, riding a bicycle on h street would be forbidden and could get you a ticket. popular with both bicycle commuters and those who grab a bike share ride to hit the bars and restaurants, h street northeast sees a lot of two-wheeled traffic. >> this is a perfect way to experience a place you're not enhoused by metal and glass. >> but with an ambitious streetcar project, almost ready to roll out, the district department of transportation, known as d-dot released proposed regulations that would ban riding a bike in a streetcar guide way except to cross the

street. the association web page notes that on h street, that's the entire street, and urges members to tell ddot not to ban bikes. nearby streets parallel to h, including i street, have been marked with bike lanes presumably as an alternative. >> those roads are in horrible condition. you can't even ride in the bike lane in a lot of places. you're in traffic and then it is worse than before. >> o those who live in the area say it is going to be interesting. >> there is not room for cars, bikes, the buses and the train. i'm wondering how it will work out. >> ddot wants to hear from you about the proposed regulations. you have until september 27th. live in northeast washington, jackie benson, news 4. >> all right, jackie. tomorrow morning a jury will resume deliberations in the corruption trial of bob and maureen mcdonnell. jurors did not reach a verdict before going home this afternoon. they've been deliberating now for about 13 hours. virginia's former governor and his wife are charged with

accepting more than $165,000 in cash and gifts from businessman johnny williams in exchange for promoting his company. stay with news 4 on air and on-line for breaking updates as soon as there is a verdict. >> new tonight, nbc news has confirmed a washington post report that justice department will launch a civil rights investigation into the police department in ferguson, missouri. this is separate from its investigation into michael brown's death. it means justice department investigators will examine how the department operated over several years. today in st. louis, protesters held another don't shoot rally while governor jay nickson officially ended the state of emergency in ferguson. a health official at centers for disease control issued a dire warning tonight. he says the ebola virus will likely spread from west africa to other countries because health workers can't keep up with the outbreak. the world health organization says ebowl ya now killed more than 1900 people.

we're learning more about what made campus police swarm a university in maryland. officers evacuated that building and two others nearby. they swept all three, but didn't find anything. police are patrolling the building tonight and trying to track down who made that call.

now when you're driving, do you freeze up when you hear an ambulance or police siren? a lot of people do. and it is causing big problems for emergency responders. nbc's tom costello has more from gaithersburg. >> the caller from 911 last may, was already doing cpr on mr. lui after he collapsed. a patient's chances of surviving drops 10% with every minute that passes. >> he is not moving. >> which is why we were so surprised to see drivers who wouldn't move over for emergency vehicles. >> the red truck wouldn't move. they didn't want to have to go the wrong wiley. >> failing to yield can be danger poups nationwide in 2012, 60 people died in accidents involving emergency vehicles. >> they just don't see us and they don't hear us. >> sometime until the sirens are just 20 feet away.

today's modern cars are so sound proof with a radio on, i didn't hear the fire engine until he was right on my bumper. and drivers panic, not sure if they should go through a red light to make room. no, say firefighters. >> you should not risk your own safety by pulling out into an intersection, particularly a blind intersection. >> in most states the law requires to you signal, yield by pulling to the right, or the nearest curb, then stop. but beware, once one unit passes, another could be following right behind. because nationwide, modern ems and fire fighting tactics often require many more units on the initial response. back in maryland, michael lui celebrated his 32nd birthday last week with firefighters and the woman who satisfied him. if the medics would have been delayed, what would have happened. >> i would have died. if they were any later than getting there, i wouldn't have made it. >> because the system worked, a

little boy named nathan, has his dad back. tom costello, gaithersburg, maryland. >> police are trying to track down a man involved in seven robberies, five committed in the past seven days. he robbed papa johns on capitol hill twice, a convenient store on pennsylvania avenue and most recently cricket store on georgia avenue northwest. surveillance video shows him pointing a gun while a second robber holds a gun and the clerk stuffs money into it. in los angeles, animal control officers are hunting a deadly albino cobra. one bite can kill within the hour depending on a person's immune system. the five-foot cobra bit a greyhound in one backyard. it slithered away but not before the dog's owner snapped a photo. that greyhound is still being treat bid vets. it is illegal to own a cobra in l.a. county. residents are warn it'll strike if it is cornered.

neighbors told to call 911 if they see it. crazy stuff. southern california, a lot of wildlife out there. mountain lions. you get some snakes. >> scary. >> yeah. >> let's look at the next couple of days. not just more heat, more humidity, more chance of storms, too. that will effect your weekend, too. if you've got plans on let's say, saturday, that's the day we could see more storminess and more heat and humidity out there. temperatures today, close to 90 in d.c. but most areas very comfortable into the 80s and look at this, look at our numbers now at 11:00. down to 66 in gaithersburg, 70 in frederick. 74 towards fredericksburg area, 70 rather in frederick. so a very nice night. a fairly cool night too when you consider where we've been the past couple of days. heading out early tomorrow morning, you know that storm radar is dry. nothing on the radar.

we aren't seeing any rain around the region. i don't expect any until tomorrow afternoon. we will see our chances increase in a little bit. satellite and radar showing frontal boundary around the area. big storms toward north carolina and even a few south and west. this is what we are going to watch, the moisture start to creep back up into our area during the day tomorrow. so we're not getting the dry air coming down. we won't stay cool. but warm and moist air up from the south and that would give us more humidity during the day tomorrow especially friday and saturday. future weather, well for you by early tomorrow morning. don't expect showers but we could see fog early in the morning. tomorrow afternoon, look at the scattering of showers. most of the area will stay dry but you may want to take the umbrella just in case. i do think, however, the best chance of rain is in northern virginia. maybe down towards the northern neck too. on friday, starting off once again, areas of fog and cloud cover, but then friday afternoon, i think a better chance for most of the area, along i-95, you see a chance of some of those isolateded showers. maybe a thunderstorm there.

but we're only talking 30% chance both thursday and friday. best chance of rain, does come on saturday. your commuter impact for saturday morning, kids go together bus stop, 6:00 to 8:00 a.m., areas of fog mostly down south and west. not bad. this is in the city. 64 degrees in the suburbs. inside the city, 5 to 7. make your way around the districts. 89 once again. a little more humid and i think the drive should be aokay. i think we should stay on the dryer side for the most part. so a little warmer today in most locations but still, not too hot and humid. that come in on friday with a high of 92. saturday, 60% chance of storms with a temperature of 93 degrees. some of those storms could be strong, potentially severe and look what happens here. 93 to 80 sunday. to 79 on monday. we get a lot cooler as we head into the week next week. 30 degree temperature drop from

tonight, doug and i ordered dinner, watched nt the nats, ate dinner, and it's still on. >> wait until october. the one thing that makes baseball such a beautiful sport, it has to be the fact that there are no time limits. no clocks on the baseball diamond. a game can go on and on and on and on and on and on until someone has more runs after 27 outs. today nats fans got more baseball than they expected. this game was so good, we're starting in the top of the ninth. nats down two runs. and down to their last out but adam la roche changes that with one swing of the bat. pinch hit. how about that, two-run shot. 20th home run of the season and tied at two. two batters later, span coming through.

shutout. o's beat the reds. that game, only 2 1/2 hours long. nfl season kicking off officially tomorrow. redskins have to wait until sunday like the majority of the week. after going through training camp and preseason, guys are ready to play real football games especially rg3 who is looking to bounce back after a rough start last year. >> you always want to go out there and feel excited about the game of football. it is a beautiful game. if that changed for me or anybody else from that season now then you shouldn't be playing. like the super bowl for everybody. everybody wants to get out there and play for real and play four quarters and win the game. that's what we plan to do. but yeah, i'll be excited and ready to go like the rest of the players. >> worsed team in nt fl last year but three-point favorite. year but three-point favorite. >>
