high water creating some hydra ma many parts of the area. tonight as the storms move out, the cleanup gets start. check out the light show just a few hours ago and how the brief storms affected traffic out on the roads. some drivers got stranded open and had to be rescued. others left in the dark after the storms knocked out power. tonight we have team coverage. amelia is looking at what's coming. let's start with darcy spencer. you're seeing some damage out there. >> reporter: we certainly have. we're live at the cabin john fire station here in the pa totc

area. this was dispatched three or four times tonight. they were able to rescues a husband and wife who had gotten stranded in high water. the storm hit hard and fast. thunder and lightning and heavy rain gave here. here in adams morgan people had to run for cover in the downpour. the storm caused tree and power line damage in montgomery country and flooded roads. this car stuck in high water on bradley boulevard. this jeep done, filled with water on kendall drive. a tree fell into power lines on falls road. utility crews working to remove the tree. swift water boat teams had to rescue people trapped in high water on bradley boulevard. fortunately even was okay. >> we did rescue a man and woman out of a car in the 8300 block of bradley. that's in the area that's so

few hours ago, only holding on in far southern maryland. those of you in st. mary's country deal with the last of the heavy rain, just some scattered showers remaining across parts of our area. you can see light rain over fred rick and washington counties right new and scattered showers, not storms, are possible until 3:00 a.m. look at the temperatures. 76 now in washington and much cooler air back to the west. 62 in pittsburgh. that cooler air filters in overnight tonight. our highs today, they were in the low to mid 90s. washington hit a high of 95. our high temperatures tomorrow only around 80 degrees, a high in washington of 81. however right now we're looking at plenty of clouds. how long will these clouds hang on? i'll let you know coming up in my full forecast in ten minutes. 0 you can download the storm team 4 weather app, free on itunes or google play.

a train ran over a man in gaithersburg. the man died where he was hit near shady grove road. officials had to stop all csx train traffic and were told it may take several hours to finish the investigation. outrage over the michael brown case is still going strong in d.c. protesters are calling for the arrest of the ferguson police officer who shot and lled the unarmed 18-year-old nearly a month ago. tonight's demonstrators called for the demilitarization of police and the reviews that have the power to fire police officers. two people are dead after a garbage truck and a car collided on an interstate. this cell phone video shows the aftermath on i-295. investigators say the impact was so strong the car nearly broke in half when it hit a light bulb. both occupants were killed.

a third passenger in the car and the driver of the truck were also hurt. the collision caused major traffic delays. president obama is defending his decision to delay immigration reform until after election day. mr. obama promised to act by the end of summer. critics say he pushed it past november to protect democrats in tough races. he discussed this with chuck todd. >> i'm going to act because it's the right thing for the country. but it's going to be more sustainable and effective if the public understand what the facts are on immigration, and why it's necessary. >> you can see chuck's entire interview with president obama tomorrow morning on "meet the press" airing at 10:30 right her on nbc 4. coming up next, a fight over a cell phone leaves a maryland man dead and another in jail for murder.

a maryland man is in jail tonight accused of stabbing someone to death over a cell phone. police arrested this man and charged him with first degree murder. detective say he stabbed a man on wednesday. the report reveals the girl wanted the victim's cell phone. the man he's accused of stabbing was found dead in the middle of the street. a teenager is under arrest

for raping a woman near the mall. he's 17 years old and lives in alexandria. a come told investigators that someone raped her last sunday. the woman and the teenager didn't know each other. tonight investigators want to know what went wrong after a pilot blacked out and crashed his plane off the coast of jamaica. air traffic controllers lost communication with the small plane about an hour after it took off from rod chester, new york. the u.s. pilots intercepted the plane and reported that the window was frosted over and the pilot slumped over at the controls. they think there was a loss of cabin pressure. the plane travel 1700 miles before it crashed and tonight crews found what appears to be the wreckage. real estate developer phil glacier was flying the plane with his wife on board. it's going to be a private

funeral service for comedian joan rivers. friends and family will say goo bye at 11:00 in the morning. flowers line ore star on the hollywood walk of fame as well as the doorstep of her town house in new york city. rivers died on thursday, a week after she went into cardiac arrest during a routine medical procedure. the median was 81 years old. a special ceremony at alexandria at a cemetery honoring thousands of slaves who died during the war. decent dents of the slaves attended the ceremony. the cemetery is at south washington and church streets and it's hall lowed ground. archaeologist discovered their graves more than 20 years ago during construction on the wood fro wilson bridge. >> dangerous weather is on the

right now two women in their 70s are in the hospital after they were both struck by lightning at a beach. paramedics in massachusetts say both went into cardiac arrest. lifeguards gave them cpr and were able to revive both women. that same system pummeled detroit last night. cell phone video captured this moment. powerful winds knocked down power line and nearly took half a million customers off the

so the weather, as far as it having a negative impact on your sunday, that's just not going to be the case. we will start off with cloudy skies. the clouds will break up as we get into the afternoon hours. and temperatures tomorrow about 10 to 15 degrees cooler. the humidity not an issue at all. 7:00 a.m. you're waking up, overcast skies. no rain in the forecast for tomorrow. temperature at 7:00 a.m., around 70. 11:00 a.m. we start to notice a few peeks of sunshine. cooler. temperatures in the mid 70s at that point. will only warm to around 80 degrees tomorrow. partly sunny skies for the afternoon and evening house. again, less humid and a beautiful, beautiful sunday evening in store. great day for the kids to be outside tomorrow. if you have yard work to do, tomorrow will be much more comfortable outside as well with the lower humid. i want to walk you through the

a high temperature on tuesday. going to be tracking an area of low pressure on monday and tuesday. that is going to bring plenty of clouds to the area and some drizzle and showers are possible. now the best chance of showers monday and tuesday will mainly be south and east of washington. so those of you in southern maryland, parts of prince georges really have the best chance of rain. we could see rain later in the day on monday and then earlier in the day on tuesday. again, otherwise, we're tracking plenty of clouds and for the most part temperatures pretty comfortable. wednesday the humidity starts to build in, partly sunny skies. don't get the car washed yet because on thursday it's hot and humid and we're tracking thunderstorms moving through the area. it's likety rally the storms will hold off until the evening hours. this is another cold front just like what we had tonight. we could be dealing with more heavy winds and strong rain.

a pretty day for maryland. in fact at times it was downright ugly in tampa. they were looking to start the season 2-0 for the third straight year. first quarter maryland already up a touchdown. c.j. brown off the fake, coughs up the football here, gets picked up by sanchez, the freshman returns it for the score. this one was under review but the reves say that brown's knee was not down before he lost the ball. usf, they tie it up at 7. maryland had six turnovers in the game today. six. later on in the quarter the offense making some moves. brown finds marcus leek crossing the middle. that's a 44-yard hookup, his second touchdown of the day. south florida came back fourth quarter with a three-point lead. they're punting here. but here comes the rush.
