first mayoral debate tonight. this is the first of four before the november election. it will be moderated by our own tom sherwood. it will be streamed live online through american university. and we're getting a look at where things stand in the mayor's race right now. a new nbc 4/"washington post"/maris poll showed 43% likely support bowser. catania was next with 26%, with followed by schwartz with 16%. >> the residents here rosedale are responding to our message. i can't think of a candidate who would trade places. >> i think it's pretty exciting that i have 16% of the vote. 14% of voters remain undecided. we reached out to david catania, but he decided not to comment

later school start times in fairfax county schools. the recommendation will be presented at the business meeting tonight. it proposes they start at 8:00 a.m. and middle schools 7:30 a.m. letting students sleep in improves their mental and physical health and academic performance. today is the last discussion before a final vote in october. . when you think of high school football you think of friday night lights. now a school board will decide whether to turn them on for a high school. they want to add stadium lights. you can see how close the stay yum is to neighboring homes. neighbors think adding lights will mean con standpoint disruptions. they will review a report regarding the feasibility of adding lights. they were supposed to play a key role in the fate of bob mcdonnell. why one of the jurors was dismiss in the middle of the trial >> another cool start as you get ready to head out the door.

they are expecting population to grow 25% by 2040. road capacity is only expected to expand 7% by that time. that will mean 6.5 million people living and shares the roads in our recently. local jurisdictions need to focus on getting people to live, work, and play in places like silver spring, tysons corner and rockville. the communities are built there. there is public transportation. there's been an awful lot of debate about legroom on planes lately. we told you about the device preventing people from reclining their seats on a plane. anthony fox told conde nast travelers that people are not sardines. he said he hopes the the recent incidents sent a mental to the industry that perhaps we are getting a little too close.

guilty verdicts to mcdonnell and his wife, we are learning about one juror who was dismissed. he said he was unethically dismissed and said the former governor and his wife were innocent. he was dismissed because he talked about the case at a bar steps away from the courthouse. >> the next thing we know two marshalls come in and asked him to come out. so we're all kind of like, okay, what's going on. and he left. he just disappeared. >> jurors of course were instructed not to talk about the case to anybody. the mcdonnell case is in the sentencing phase right now. the former governor says he plans to appeal the verdict >> another hard hit for the with another player arrested. this time arizona cardinals running back dwyer faces assault

the group is made up of national organizations representing political interests of they want to share outrage. the group wants them to create a more diverse panel of female advisers. today federal prosecutors and lawyers for boston marathon bombing suspect tsarnaev will be in court. they want the trial moved outside of massachusetts and delay the start date by 10 months. he pleaded not guilty to the attacks that killed 10 and injured 260. the senate expected to take up a house measure that would arm syrian rebels in the fight against isis. the house passed an amendment yesterday to aed broader government funding. it does not include money to pay

age or older >> today we will learn about plans to revamp a d.c. neighborhood. the next zoning hearing on the barry farm redevelopment is 6:30 tonight. it calls for tearing down 25 acres of public housing off suitland parkway. they want to turn it into a mixed use neighborhood by adding stores and restaurants. the barry farm community suppressed concern about current residents not having a new place in the homes >> the diamond companies asked them to contribute $18 million for the stadium. they have reduced it to $14 billion. they have agreed to pay service fees on the loans. the mayor and many council members feel it is too riski. they plan to discuss it again next tuesday. a coach in loudon county is in grievance with the school system over his removal from the
