from fairfax county. hundreds have joined the search for hannah graham. investigators say the last man to be seen with graham is a person of interest. we know who he is. but we're not naming him because he hasn't been arrested, much less charged with any crime. northern virginia bureau reporter is charlottesville with the latest on the search. >> reporter: shortly after the sun rose over uva's john paul jones arena, they were off. >> they're all labeled. right up there. >> thank you. >> reporter: more than 1500 volunteers loaded on to buss. >> i have three girls myself so this hits home. >> reporter: dropped off at search zones. >> dozens like this one are fanned out across charlottesville this weekend, on their feet anywhere from two to four hours, going in and out of brush like this one, most of them have no connection to hannah graham, but all of them desperate to find her. >> that flashlight is in that

backpack. >> reporter: melissa mccoy among them on her hands and knees looking into sewers. she's not alone. her son wanted to help too. >> i think with all of us we're going to find something. that's what i think. >> reporter: police meantime moving forward with their search for more witnesses. surveillance cameras captured several bystanders as hanna walked the popular downtown mall. investigators now say this is the last bar hanna was in. they say they was in here with that person of interest and they say she left from here in that man's car. we were there as police took evidence from his apartment friday morning. they saw the man there, but couldn't arrest him. they say they didn't have probable cause. >> delta eight. >> reporter: we watched searchers uncover possible evidence. >> we have located one shotgun shell unshot. >> reporter: they called it in and marked the location. they also found an ipod. but still, no hanna.

and so the search goes on. in charlottesville, virginia, david cullver, news 4. >>e'll continue to follow the search for hannah graham. for the latest updates visit nbcwashington.com. developing tonight, there has been a second security breach at the white house in less than 24 hours. the secret service says a man showed up at the white house gate this afternoon on foot and then came back with his car. he drove up to the gate at 15th and e street and pulled into the vehicle screening area. allegedly he refused to leave and the secret service arrested him for unlawful entry. officers just reopened those streets about an hour ago. well, the first dramatic white house breach last night sent reporters and visitors scrambling. there's been criticism over how the secret service handled it. the secret service says a man from texas got through the front door before they stopped him. jumping the fence is not that

unusual. getting into the white house is. the president had just left with his daughters when the security breach happened. new at 6:00, d.c. police looking for the man who murdered a woman a few blocks from a metro station. officers got to benning road around 1:30 this morning down the street from the blue and silver line station. they found tracee womack stabbed to death and now police are offering up to $25,000 for any tips that lead to her killer's conviction. about an hour later police were called to the shaw neighborhood where an suv ran over a bicyclist and just kept right on going. tonya reeves was riding her bike down 8th street about a block from the shaw metro station. police say a light colored suv hit her and drove off toward rhode island avenue. emts rushed her to the hospital but doctors couldn't save her and reeves died there. tonight police are searching for the driver and say the suv may have damaged to the front bumper. friends, families and volunteers spent a second

weekend searching for jacob and sarah hoggle, they teamed with the maryland missing person's network hoping to find the children alive. jacob's 2, sarah 3 and police say their mother still isn't helping investigators find them. katherine hoggle disappeared with the kids two weeks ago and was taken into custody days later. news 4's derrick ward has the latest on the search. >> reporter: theirs are perhaps the most weln l-knowchildren's faces in the area but nearly two weeks after sarah and jacob hoggle disappeared with their mother, they are still missing. even with catherine hoggle in custody, reportedly not helping in the effort to find them. >> but we want to go in the woods. >> okay. >> reporter: a small army of the concerned gathered at seneca valley high school to fan out and look for the children. it takes some organizing. >> forest trail. >> i mean, organization to us was we'll meet at chick-fil-a at 5:00 in the morning. >> reporter: most of us don't know or want to be versed in

this area because that means someone is missing. >> anywhere. >> this is all them. you know, i just -- i basically just asked, let them know what i wanted and asked them to help me with it and this is what they've done. >> century boulevard area please meet over here. >> reporter: this group went through the woods around a muddy branch trail. along and off. >> if you saw any footprints over there. are you all right back there? >> places police may have already searched but these citizens just need to help to could what they can. any other time being in the woods and on these trails might be a pleasurable experience but it's knowing why you're here to the searchers that has a whole new air to being in the setting. >> sort of i hope we don't find anything. but that i hope we do. >> reporter: after a few hours they would not find anything but they would not limit their work to the woods. >> i'm going to go to my neighborhood which is where they were last seen and see -- i'm passing these out and make sure everybody knows. >> reporter: for the children's father, the family's friends and

strangers that lend a hand it's about keeping the attention up, effort going and hope alive the children will be found. >> and everybody is excited about helping and wanting to do something. >> i want my kids back. >> reporter: derrick ward, news 4. police in pennsylvania are heavily armed and watching their backs tonight as they search for a killer in the poconos. they've set up road blocks near the home eric frein shared with his parents, suspected of killing one state trooper and wounding another after ambushed them outside their bare racks last week. officials believe frein is in the area. people heard gunshots going off last night. it's a wooded area. officers are urging people who live there to stay in their homes. five years after the deadly red line crash, metro is going back to computer driven trains. nine people died when the automated system failed as one train slammed into the back of another near fort totten. metro's gm tells "the washington post" half a dozen trains will go back to automated operation next month and those will run

work week. your impact forecast for tomorrow the weather haze a low impact on your day mainly because of the warm temperatures, but again that shower or thunderstorm also possible. here on storm team 4 radar, notice the rain starting to make its way into ohio. pretty impressive line in indiana and illinois. this ahead of a cold front. this is what tracks through our area. mainly around 8:00 p.m. tomorrow when the front actually moves through. we could see a shower or thunderstorm pop up ahead of that front. so future weather throughout your day tomorrow, 6:00 a.m., starting off with plenty of sunshine and we keep the sunshine around for most of the day. 3:00, there could be a few scattered showers maybe an isolated thunderstorm around. we're not talking about severe weather at all tomorrow, but again, you could be dealing with a quick moving shower or thunderstorm. 8:00, future weather is dry. this is when the front moves through. there's the chance of a shower or thunderstorm at that point as well. as far as the yard work is concerned, do it early because of the heat. you're still going to need a water. not everybody getting in on rain tomorrow and if you do have rain, it's not looking like a

lot. temperatures right now around 80 degrees. 81 in washington. and another comfortably cool start tomorrow morning, great running weather for these morning temperatures. we're talking about temperatures outside of the beltway around 60 degrees. inside of the beltway areas by the water, for the most part will be in the mid to upper 60s tomorrow morning. after that cool start it gets hot. already near 80 degrees by noon. that chance of a thunderstorm around 3:00, 4:00 p.m. and then another chance of a shower around 8:00 p.m. otherwise the day is dry. monday a high temperature of 74 degrees. again this is when fall begins and it's going to feel like it. about 15 degrees cooler. we go from highs near 90 tomorrow to mid 70s on monday, look at this, chris, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday and saturday we're keeping it dry, those comfortably cool morning, and beautiful afternoons with high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. >> got a feeling a lot of folks will be trying to eat lunch outside this week while at work.
