received this new video. students were not allowed to leave the dorm during the search after reports of people with firearms starting to spread. the search was based on rumors and social media not on actual witness accounts. police believe the man accused of ambushing two pennsylvania state troopers was planning his attack for months, even. they gave an update on the search for eric frein last night. they found an ak-47 and ammunition in a heavily wooded part of pennsylvania. he is accused of opening fire on two state troopers earlier this month, killing one of them and wounding the other. he's been on the run now more then a week. >> up until now his advantage has been this is his backyard. he know this is rugged terrain. our tactical operations now also know his backyard, the area he once felt safe in. we are pushing hard. he is no longer safe.

1,000 syrian refugees arrived in the turkey, trying to get away from isis fighters. nbc's tracie potts is live on capitol hill with president obama's plan to reach out to world leaders at the united nations in its efforts to target isis. >> he will be there tomorrow for climate change meetings. the big day is wednesday. he addresses the general assembly on a number of different issues, including ebola. wednesday afternoon, he is chairing u.n. security council. s will be pitching to free access to isis militants, people connected with isis. but also a global travel ban to make sure people aren't able to travel easily from u.s. to europe and go to syria and iraq and join that fight. the white house says the president is weighing the military plan. it has been submitted to him.

48 other people were hurt. investigators say the driver was trying to get on to the u.s. 13 ramp yesterday afternoon when this accident happened. the passengers were on their way back to new york from a sight-seeing tour. a road to recovery. three years follow that crash, he's thanking his rescuers. travis is trying to overcome survivor's guilt with his wife and two children gone. he is talking with grief counselors. part of his treatment is to thank the first responders. he said he doesn't remember the crash itself. he apparently fell asleep at the wheel. he's trying to find the answers and move forward. >> it's like all the answers to what, why still lingers. >> he says that he will never be the same person again. at the time of his crash his family just returned from a two-week trip to jamaica.

murder. he was 68 years old. the prince george's county police department is investigating the arrest of one of its officers. they charged michael o'connell with assault. he was off duty at the time. we are working to find out exactly what happened. right now he is suspended. 100 citizens in ferguson, missouri will be watching police closely with body cameras. an advocacy group called we cop watch. they are being handed out in response to the michael brown shooting last month. >> it's a nonviolent observation of the police. people go out and document the police when they stop members of the commun >> the police chief says he has no problems with residents report police doing their jobs. investigators trying to figure out what caused a house fire that burned three firefighters in glen arden. that broke out after midnight on
