confirmed late this afternoon that a hospital in dallas, texas now has a patient in intensive care in isolation. the man arrived in the u.s. from liberia with no symptoms but got sick five days later. right now, the virus is not contagious until a patient becomes seem. >> it is certainly possible someone who had contact with this individual could devop no doubt in my mind s that we will stop it here. >> dr. anthony heads up the infection disease center. can you talk a little bit about what steps are being taken now to contain this ebola problem in dallas. >> well, this is somethi that we felt would unfortunately happen, namely, that someone

would get infected in a west african country, would not know they are infected, would get on a plane, arrive in the united states and then get sic so right now the person is where they should be. in a very intensive care facility. the task now, is going to be to do contact tracing, namely, trying to trace everyone that person had come into contact with since they arrived and certainly since the person became symptomatic. >> how challenging is it to trace those contacts? >> this is something the cdc is very well trained and highly competitive. they have done this with different types of infections that go beyond ebola. they do it very well. they have a professional team

that is very capable and rapid in identifying and tracing these contacts. >> completely separa from this case in dallas, you are observing a physician who was exposed to the virus but has not developed any symptoms, can you tell us anything about that. >> so far everything looks stable. this is an individual, asa mentioned, is a physician who was working in liberia with a risk exposure and asked to come here to the united states to be observed. he's now in our infection isolation unit being observe he's stable, doing well, but we just have to watch because you have to wait several days to weeks if someone is infected. squl all right.

there is new reaction tonight on michael phelps dui arrest from the people who decide whether he can compete, u.s. swimming calls the charges disappointed and serious. he wags arrested early this morning. this is his second drunk driving arrest in ten years. phelps says he takes full responsibility and is de sorry. he was suspended in 2008 after being photographed using a marijuana pipe. he hopes to compete in the next olympics.
