news 4 at 11:00 begins with breaking news in northeast d.c. three people shot, we've learned one of them is a child. >> the shooting happened less than two hours ago on hey street northeast.

we got there just as one ambulance was leaving. live with the latest. >> first i want to tell you how that little boy is doing. we're told he is at an area hospital. at some point he was under going surgery. he was last listed in serious condition. we are live on hey street in northeast washington. take a look over here. this is the area we believe the shooting happened in the parking lot area of the may fair mansions apartment complex. this is a video we shot when we first got here. this man was transported to the hospital. police say two men and a little boy was shot. we don't know what the shooting is about. we got some video of what appeared to be a gun lying in the grassy area. that gun was put in an evidence bag and into a police car and taken away. let's hear from the commander in

the sixth district and two women who are residents in this area that are sad to hear about this shooting of the little boy. >> this point we are still early in the investigation and we're not sure what happened. it appears the child is an unintended victim in this. >> i think it is really sad it is happening. i didn't hear anything i live across the way here. >> it's sad. i'm tired of innocent people being shot. like that young lady said. they have to do something about the violence because it's always innocent people. >> back out live here. i'm told by police sources that this little boy was not connected to the oranther two people who were shot and wounded. we don't know why he was out here in this parking lot this evening when the shooting happened. police say they have made contact with the family members.

contain any infection that they may encount on the front line of emergency response. in light of nation's concerns of the threat of ebola to the united states, they have new procedures. >> if they have recent out of country travel we notify the hospital a little differently, making sure they call the ms supervisor. >> at shady grove hospital a patient's flu like symptoms discovered by screening results in isolation and testing for the ebola virus. a hospital spokesperson says the patient is improving and has tested positive for malaria not ebola. and another patient is displaying symptoms.

that patient is being tested. at the white house doctor anthony sought to answer questions about the spread of the virus. >> the ebola virus is not easily spread like a cold, you must come into direct contact with the bodily fluid of the infected person. >> we are likely to hear more about precautionary events like this in the coming days. >> thank you jackie. the cdc says they've been told about 100 people suspected to have ebola in the last months. of those just 15 worth testing, so far only one confirmed diagnose of ebola in the u.s., that's the case in dallas. you can help educate your friends on facebook.

mother of a 15-year-old who was severely beaten at six flags. she attended a vigil for her son at the park. witnesses say the boy was punched twice before falling and hitting his head on the concrete. he was put into a medically induced coma. part of his skull was removed to allow his brain to heal. >> he's improving. he's responding now. if you say his name he'll open his eye and he's moving all his extremities. he's doing well. >> the boy's mother says she hopes the vigil will show others the consequences of violence. tonight, another video hostage. alan henning was murdered shortly after crossing the border between turkey and syria. the video ends with another threat to an american.

we learned another man died of gunshot wounds after shooting and killing a woman in her home and shooting himself in his car. she worked for him and had been accused of stealing from the foundati foundation. next at 11:00, the news 4 team investigates a grew some assignment from a local inmate. what he says he was forced to do after a jailhouse suicide. metro shut down. and a traffic warning, why i 95 could be especially slow this weekend.

did a local jail go too far with what it asked an inmate to do. that is the gist of a new lawsuit. it's not unusual for prisoners to earn perks when they volunteer for work assignments but one inmate was emotionally scarred by what he had to do. >> keith johnson is no stranger to jail. >> i was incarcerated for a year. >> last year he served time for making threats by phone. he was down the cell from mr. paul, an attorney awaiting trial for attacking a woman. >> an officer came past and said lawyer killed himself.

>> did so with a razor blade. according to his complaint it was a grizly scene. >> you will never forget that. forget that horrible smell of the blood. >> he was more surprised when staff ordered him to clean up the bloody cell. the body had been removed but he and another inmate had to mop up what was left behind. >> whenwe went to the cell and seen how much blood it was and how horrific the scene was it was real difficult for me to deal with. >> johnson claims he was given only a flimsy paper suit that ripped soon as he put it on, exposing him to physical harm but also emotional. he said jail staff watched him clean the cell for three hours knowing he already had a mental health condition. >> we do the public safety no

favors by retraumaizing people. >> we wanted to know how jails convince their inmates to do these dirty jobs, we found they dangle nice perks for the not so nice work. in d.c. inmates can volunteer for facility chores earning cantine money oropping days off their sentences by doing so. in maryland they do too but they get extensive training. virginia state prisoners must watch specialized training videos to handle blood. similar train with every jail we questioned. but johnson said he never received biohazard training a. >> slipped a couple times.

the mattress came open. >> the matter is under litigation and they refused to answer general questions about its work assignment for inmate. but it was asked at a recent d.c. counsel hearing. >> there should be or should have been some level of screening of that individual to see if there was an issue with that person, personally or otherwise, to -- to -- to, um, conduct that work. >> the lawsuit claims they never provided johnson any after care. >> if you want more details on this, you can read the entire lawsuit on our website. metro is planning to shut down a stretch of the red line for seven consecutive weekends in order to fix unmanageable

water leaks. huge pieces of concrete will be carefully lifted into place to fit and cover a leaky tunnel. it won't happen until the fall of 2016. metro says work has already started to get ready for the lengthy shut down. if you need to drive i95 in virginia tomorrow, you may want to get an early start. a motorcade is expected to bring heavy delays between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. a steel beam is being transpo transported to the museum. >> we stilling going to be dealing by the rain by then? the rain will move out by early morning. a lot of people talking about the big chill. fr it's not going to stick around.

but it's going to be chilly the second half of the weekend. let's look what is going on right now. again still rain across the area in terms of the temperature. down to the 30s on sunday morning a big drop. this is only going to be in a few locations, factor in the wind it will feel more like 34 degrees by sunday morning. here's a look at the rain. one line coming down towards charlotte sville. down towards calbert beach, not a hard rain. the second part of the front won't come through our area until around 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. the second areas will start to fall apart.

the comfortable stuff for the weekend. again that's sunday morning. windy with leaves blowing around if you're going to be doing any yardwork on saturday. sunday we drop to 65 degrees. it's early morning cold start with a chilly day coming the second half of the weekend. let's look at four-day forecast. saturday's high, 69. again breezy, with the rain moving out of the area by 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. we have cool conditions with a mixture of cloud and sunshine. 30s in frederick, leesburg at 39. 34 degrees to start your sunday morning. a little taste of november there coming our way for the second half of the weekend. meanwhile on monday, 74, the high temperature should be great for football. 76 the high on tuesday. next chance of rain is tuesday
