66 degrees with sunshine at kickoff. falling into the mid 0660s by 4:00. want to see your team? e-mail it to me on tweet the information to me. the seven day forecast is a few minutes away. >> now to the developing story of a possible ebola case here in the area. a patient at howard university hospital was tested for the virus but we're working to find out the results. the patient's name still has not been released. he or she does have flu like symptoms and we know recently traveled to nigeria. now that person is in isolation as a precaution. yesterday a patnt at shady grove hospital in rockville that was also in isolation for possible exposure tested positive malaria, not ebola. first responders are taking extra steps. the montgomery county fire and rescue service say they always carry sety kits that have

biohazard bags and sterile gowns. they want to know from patient it's they recently traveled out of the country. if so, paramedics use a body isolation kit to protect themselves and the patient. >> make a contact to one of the receiving facility that we're going to and we notify them on the state radio to let them know this is a potential of what we think it is if it's any kind of infectious disease that they are prepared so we just don't come to their facility and contaminate. >> fire and rescue say they are prepared to handle any ebola cases. they are constantly training for an outbreak of any kind of infectious disease. this morning we're learning texas officials will burn items collected from the home of the first u.s. patient diagnosed with ebola. meanwhile, we now know when and an american journalist infected with the virus will be brought back to the states. jay gray has more from dallas. >> reporter: public health teams

moved a family quarantined for the last four days out of the apartment they shared with thomas eric duncan. >> it has been tough because no one wanted them. okay? and so someone was kind enough to offer up a private residence that is gated that is separated from any neighborhood, any apartment complex so that they can have their privacy and be away from anyone who has concern. >> reporter: that process part of a national strategy outlined at the white house to identify, isolate and provide rapid treatment to those who may be at risk. >> the reason that we feel confident is that our structure, our ability to do those things would preclude an outbreak. >> reporter: supplies in the first of 3600 u.s. troops left for west africa to support the fight against the epidemic there. as freelance american journalist who has tested positive for ebola and the nbc news team he was working with including dr. nancy snyderman will leave for the states on sunday. he will be treated at the nebraska medical center, the same facility that successfully

treated an earlier ebola patient. >> i think their confidence level is boosted given the experience we had previously and very recently. so they're ready to go. >> reporter: no other member of the nbc team exhibited symptoms, still, they will stay in isolation for at least 21 days. jay gray, nbc news, dallas. ebola symptoms typically show in infected patients between eight and ten days after exposure. the disease spreads through direct contact with blood or other bodily fluids of an infected person. the cdc says if no symptoms develop within 21 days of exposure, the person does not have the ebola virus. for symptoms and how the cdc rules out ebola cases, head to nbcwashington.com. this morning an 8-year-old boy is in a hospital following a shooting that hurt three people just outside anacostia park in the district. we brought you this breaking news last night.

we watched paramedics load one of the victims on to an ambulance. the shooting happened in a parking lot of the may fair mansions apartment complex on hay street just off the an costa freeway in northeast. you can see where police found a gun, also. d.c. police telling us the boy was not the target of the shooting. he was taken to the hospital in serious condition. no word right now on the condition of the other victims. meanwhile, d.c. police very busy. they're looking for a person who stabbed and killed a man in columbia heights. now this happened yesterday afternoon on 14th street near monroe in northwest. 35-year-old kenneth young jr. died at the hospital. police are now offering a $25,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest and a conviction in this case. we have a traffic alert to pass on this morning. right now there are no delays on i-95 in northern virginia. but that could change this afternoon. you definitely may want to adjust your travel plans because of a convoy carrying a steel

beam from the world trade center to the marine corps museum. you can expect delays between 3:00 and 6:00 this afternoon on southbound 95. the joplin road skittexit will . can you expect delays near the museum. it's not just postseason play that will attract a crowd to nationals park today. why you may want to consider a trip to the stadium even if you don't have a ticket to see the game. plus, the lack of service at marriott that has the government ordering the hotel chain to pay up. and the sacred items damaged in a fire at the 9/11 memorial site in pennsylvania.

we are following a developing story right now. the terrorist group isis is threatening to kill another american hostage. now the threat comes in the same video that appeared to show the beheading of a british aid worker. nbc's chief foreign correspondent richard engel reports. >> reporter: this is the fourth execution of western hostages by isis in syria in just the last several months. in this case, it was a british aide worker allen henning. he is shown in the orange suit very similar to other hot tajs killed by isis. henning was a taxi driver who was kidnapped by isis whether he was driving an ambulance in noo syria. the group also threatened to execute an american hostage next, a former american soldier

who went to syria to help provide medical assistance to the syrian people. in these videos, isis is clearly trying to score propaganda points. but it also is trying to provoke a reaction from the u.s. it seems to want to draw the u.s. deeper into this conflict which isis firmly believes will be a quagmire for the united states and any other country that gets more involved. right now isis is closing in on the city of kobani. it sits right on the turkish border. there are plenty of other towns and cities inside syria that isis could attack, but it wants to attack kobani right under the noses of turkish soldiers. turkish troops can actually see this battle taking place. and now turkey is also contemplating getting more militarily involved in the fight against isis in iraq and syria. that seems to be the isis strategy. widen the war. richard engel, nbc news, turkey.

right now there is extra security at harvard university after a threat of a shooting on campus. university police say several students and faculty members received an e-mail threatening the shooting. that would happen sometime this morning. but some students say they're just not worried. >> i don't have too much concern. i'm sure the harvard university police department will manage it very effectively. >> the university did send an e-mail to campus and the community warning them of this threat. the school does remain open. the flight 93 national memorial in pennsylvania will reopen today after a fire. the memorial marks the site where united flight 93 crashed on september 11th, 2001. yesterday a fire destroyed several administrative buildings. the 9/11 flag that flew over the united states capitol is housed in one of the buildings that was damaged. officials have not been able to get in and examine everything.

the memorial itself will be open today while veinvestigators loo into what started that fire. laurel police will withstand the weather for a good cause. officers will stay on the roof of a dunkin' donuts for 30 hours to raise money for special olympics. this is the sixth year the department has done this. it's going to be a little chilly up there and windy as they head up this morning. so you know what? when the weather changes, when the seasons change, time to go overboard. i was this close to putting on a puffy jacket this morning. >> oh, no! >> i know. i didn't. >> you can't do that. >> i'll give you the eye roll on the puffy jacket for this morning. now tomorrow morning, go ahead and have your puffy jacket trod go. a real change of air masses is riding in on a northwest wind later on this afternoon. tomorrow will feel 180 degrees different than today. technically, only 20 degrees cooler. you know what i mean. outside this morning, hey, it's

this, a plan to stop the leaks. deputy general manager and rail chief rob troop sat down with news 4 to explain it all. >> what we'll be doing is putting in basically it's like a false roof. we'll be able to come in with these precast panels, the precast panels will interlock. >> reporter: one by one the precast concrete panels will be lifted into place, a slow and tedious process, the reason why they have to close this section of the rail line for seven consecutive weekends. now that work will happen in 2016. metro has to get ready for the work right now which means closures up until that point. metro will use the closures to also upgrade the bethesda station, make adjustments for the planned purple line and the station near grovner. >> whether they shut down, use shuttle buses instead. but those are going to run along wisconsin avenue and we all know how busy that road gets.

a $25,000 reward is being offered for any information that leads to the children's whereabouts. we're now hearing from the grandmother of those two kids. lizzy huggle is talking about her daughter katherine who is accused of taken her children. katherine huggle's family says she took the kids after she stopped taking her medicine. her mother lindsey tells us katherine started showing signs of mental illness when she was in middle school. the family didn't know until last year that she suffered from paranoid schizophrenia. >> it was a -- some sort of a mood disorder that occasionally reeked havoc on the rest of us. it impacts the whole family. it's not just one person and it's not that she necessarily meant for it to be that way, but it's an illness. >> well, news 4's darcy spencer sat down with huggle as part of our changing minds series. we'll have more on her interview with lindsey huggle monday on

but he has a long road to recovery. >> he's responding now. if you say his name, he opens his eyes. he is moving all of his extremities. so he's doing better. we have a long recovery. right now he's doing okay. >> rogers hopes the vigil will show others the consequences of violence. at 24 years old, went off to fight in world war ii. it would take 70 years for sergeant richard dean to return home to northern virginia. bean's remains were identified and returned and thanks to some very persistent japanese researchers, news 4's david culver brings us the story. >> reporter: full military honors for a man who gave his life in defense of his country. but most gathered here didn't even know this fallen soldier.

that's because he died 7 o years ago in the midst a heated battle in the pacific. his remains lost. so it was thought. ♪ >> for seven decades he was buried on foreign soil. sergeant bean now back home. his family wanted him laid to rest in the u.s. right here at quantico national cemetery. >> we're bringing our uncle back home and giving him honors that he deserves. >> reporter: rosie white hugged the people that made the proper funeral possible. this woman found the remains and dog tagged with sergeant bean's name. >> it's really shocking. it's a good shock. >> reporter: they tracked down sergeant bean's nephew and confirmed the connection through his dna and flew some 7,000 miles to prince william county to bring him the news. >> they actually came to my
