and sierra leone will meet with the united nations. a deputy who responded to the ebola patient is now in the hospital but officials say he does not have the virus. thomas duncan is the first person to be die from ebola in the u.s. he traveled to texas from liberia. he complained of fever, stomach pain and fatigue. he is in the hospital. it is as a precaution. family and friends are honor the life of thomas duncan. texas health officials say his remains will be korea matcremat. . 6:03. dulles is one of five airports getting workers into place to screen for the ebola virus. cdc will take the temperatures of passengers and look out for symptoms.

improvement project to route 1. it goes live today. news 4's megan mcgrath is live in college park with more. megan, good morning stphrr eun, three people have been killed on route 1 in college park. a very dangerous situation. and if you look behind me here you can see the electronic sign they have put up telling drivers that a new signal will be turned on later this morning. it's a pedestrian signal at route 1 and hardwick road. they will turn it on at 10:00 this morning. it is one of a number of things they can do in this area to try to make things safer for pedestrians. other things they have done, they have lowered the speed limit on this stretch of route 1 in college park. it is 25 miles per hour. they also have speed cameras out there to make sure that people follow that new lower speed limit. they have also put a phelps in the median between hardwick and

knox road. that is a big area for students in the college park area. a lot of folks have been jay-walking over the years. this fence, though, is going prevent that, force people to go down to the corners where there are crosswalks. the hope is this will cut down on some of these terrible accidents we have seen here in college park. if you drive-through college park, keep in mind we have some cones. we have the turn lane for these electronic signs. keep your eyes open. a little bit of a different traffic pattern this morning. when they turn on this light at 10:00 a.m., you're going to the see a lot more activity in the area and pedestrians crossing at this particular intersection with this new signal. reporting live in college park, news 4. back to you. . megan, thank you. we're staying on top of a developing story for you. protesters are on suburban, missouri streets again. the new police-involved shooting they're demanding answers about.

working an off-duty detail for a security agency at the time. we're told a confrontation led to a shoot-out. police say the suspect fired three rounds at the officer. the officer reportedly fired 17 shots. the officer was not hurt. the three other suspects were taken into custody. at one point a crowd gathered near the shooting scene. that protest was quickly and peacefully disbursed. an internal investigation will decide whether the officer's actions were appropriate. in northern california, five wildfires near a busy highway. they have scorched 380 acres along interstate 80 in sacramento. part of the road is closed indefinitely. the cause under investigation.

after they exhume the body it will take several weeks to compare the dna. prince george's county police are investigating a murder in district heights. it happened at 9:00 on loring drive. police say a man came up to a group of people outside an apartment building and began shooting. police are still work to go identify the victim. a $25,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the tkpwubmagunman. police are stepping up their search for a man who robbed a woman at forest park apartments last week. he stabbed her several times. she survived, though. they plan to pass out flyers hoping to find a break in this case >> a retired sheriff's deputy is charged with assaulting a student at culpepper county high school.

former deputy shannon carter became a substitute teacher after retiring in 2012. the the students were playing paper football in her css last week. the sheriff says carter stepped on a student's hand when he went to pick up the football off the floor. she is facing assault and battery and will no longer be allowed to substitute. the d.c. chapter of aarp is hosting a forum tonight. bowser, catania and carol schwartz will all take part. there will not be any back and forth between the candidates. today communities will come together to rally for fair development along the new purple line. neighbors and business owners are celebrating the creation of a purple line community compact. it is a commitment to build new development inclusive of all social and economic groups. the fair development coalition championed the effort in 2010. they were concerned that new

today a former d.c. police officer will learn his prison sentence today. police arrested barnhill after finding two missing girls in his apartment in southeast washington. one was 15 years old, the other was 16. the girls told police barnhill promised to find them modelling jobs. he can now spend seven years in prison and be required to register as a sex offender. a stafford county teacher charged with sex crimes will find out whether she will be let out of jail. erica mesa is expected back in court for a bond hearing. she taught at colonial forge high school. she sent nude photos to one of her students and had a sexual relationship with him. the freelance star reports mesa had inappropriate relationships with at least four students since 2012. the white house dismissing claims that it covered up a secret service prostitution scandal because it happened in an election year. 10 secret service agents were fired in 2012 after a prostitute
