or out of town. inner and outer loop both looking good. beltway and river road moving right along. remember to follow us on twitter. . good morning. i'm richard jordan. developing overnight, more pro tests in south st. louis after an 18-year-old was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer yesterday. this is some of the video there. you can see those protests getting pretty violent. police officers using pepper spray. in exchange, some demonstrators vandalized some police cruisers. myers was shot and killed by the off-duty officer. the victim's family says that he was not armed. police saying he did have a gun and he shot at the off-duty officer three times. that officer fired back up to 17 times, shooting and killing myers there on the street. the justice department is being called in to investigate. local leaders say they welcome an independent investigation here. that's the latest from the live

desk. this protest comes to months after police shot and killed 18-year-old michael brown in ferguson, missouri. the protest begins with a march to the office of the prosecutor where the group will demand that officer wilson be charged. there will be a candlelight march to the police station. some congressmen will meet in dallas to discuss ebola concerns. they will discuss the importance of coordination on this outbreak. researchers are testing an ebola vaccine in africa. we are hearing from the dallas hospital who treated thomas duncan. he is the only patient in the u.s. to die from ebola. he did not get the same serum as the other patnts because his blood types was not compatible with the donor.

the deputy is now out of the hospital after complaining of symptoms of ebola. the deputy did not have contact with duncan but did see is some of his family members. . hospitals in this region are getting their response plans in or. just yesterday a team of doctors, nurses, and emergency stpopbders held a drill. they walked through what to do and whatnot to do while treating a patient possibly exposed to ebola. >> each time you to a drill, we learn more and more and find even more opportunities to make our system better and to the answer questions that come up. >> the hospital used undercover patients to test staff reaction. each employee has a job action plan to follow in case of a real ebola situation. if you have ebola questions, we have some answers. head to nbcwashington.com to find information on recent cases, symptoms and how

hospitals in this region are preparing to treat a potential case. there could be a legal challenge to the ruling about the third congressional strict. a panel of judges said the strict would have to be redrawn. they said there were too many black voters which makes it easier for wins in surrounding districts. they are considering challenging the order. if they don't, new boundaries will have to be in place by april. the state will hold its 24th annual teacher of the year reception in baltimore. seven teachers are finalists, including one from frederick, howard, and montgomery countys. the winner gets a new car as well as cash and technology awards. they get a trip to the white house and a chance to compete pore national teacher of the year. good luck. . yeah. the baltimore orioles are getting pumped for the pennant. they play game one today. the take kicks off with a huge rally for the team in baltimore.

kim jong-un has not been seen for weeks. he pheuftd the anniversary of the founding of the ruling workers party. it's the first time he has missed this event in three years. so there has been a lot of speculation now. he is 31 years old. last seen publicly walking with a limp, overweight. this has some people suspecting that he could possibly have gout or diabetes. but south korea officials are trying to play down the speculation saying that kim jong-un is still in control of north korea's government, that he simply hurt his leg and he will need a couple of weeks to recover from that. north korea, a very secret country. . 4:49. apparently not as many of us are taking the metro. the transit agency says the number of people riding the rails is down and has been for two years. metro blames the down turn in local jobs and says also that the growing bus service has
