have been compromised. that includes five stores in our area. >> we have more information about the locations that were impacted in our area. there are a number of locations. three in charles county. dairy queen and la plata, charlotte hall, leesburg, fairfax station. they discovered 395 locations nationwide had their payment systems infected with malware, which was stealing customer information. that malware was active for a good hunk of august. although the exact date varied by location. here at fairfax station, for example, the malware was active august 5th through the 31st. here's a look at some of the

northeast. the students said one man had a gun. they demanded iphones, backpacks and credit cards. they handed over the belongings and the robbers took off. none of the students was hurt. congressmen will meet in dallas to discuss ebola concerns. a field hearing will discuss the importance on this outbreak. university of maryland researchers are in africa in the country of mali testing what could be the first ebola vaccine. in dallas, a deputy is out of the hospital after fears of ebola concerns. . a new ruling on a district in virginia. the third must be redrawn by april after a panel of judges said there are too many black voters there.

in news for your health now, british researchers found lung cancer can sit dormant in your body for 20 years. they examined lung cancer in seven patients and found an initial genetic mistake causes that cancer. it can stay hidden until a new one can trigger a new growth. it emphasizes need for early detection. two-thirds of lung cancer patients have advanced forms of the disease by the time they're diagnosed. buzz pod actually trains snorers not to sleep on their backs. if the sleeper turns on their backs, the alarm vibrates and alerts the snorer to turn off.

6:16 is your time. now to a developing story in missouri. hundreds gathered for a protest in st. louis for a second night over the shooting death of an 18-year-old by an off-duty police officer. police say before myers was shot, he fired three shots at

the officer. the officer fired back 17 rounds. investigators are work to go figure out whether the officer's behavior was appropriate. and this protest comes two months after police in ferguson, missouri shot and killed 18-year-old michael brown. today a group will kick off a weekend of resistance demonstration there. the protest begins with a march to the office of the prosecutor where the group will demand that officer darren wilson be charged. this will be a special ceremony tonight, followed by a candlelight march to the police station. u.s. officials are calling on turkey to take a more active role to target isis. chuck hagel said he would like the u.s. to access an air base in turkey. hagel wants turkey to help to

in april, the news 4 i team broke the news that the fbi added him to the 10 most wanted list. investigators say the unidentified man bears a striking resemblance to bradford bishop. the lab is using a cigarette left behind at the murder scene to compare bishop's dna to john doe's. reuters says kim is still in firm control of his government but has been absent for the public eye because he hurt his leg at a public event in july. kim was walking with a limp. kim reportedly hurt his leg while inspecting military exercises. there has been no mention of kim since september 3rd. there are also reports that north korea and south korea traded fire after the north shot at south korea propaganda balloons. defectors frequently release balloons carrying anti-north

korean leaflets. a special memorial for james brady today. he was the white house press secretary under ronald reagan. he passed away this august. the white house briefing room is named for him. brady became app activist for gun control after he was shot during the assassination attempt on president reagan in 1981. vice president joe biden is expected to speak at today's service. . a scandal has hit the oregon mayor and his fiancee. sylvia hayes married an ethiopian man 17 years ago so he could become a u.s. citizen. that man, who was 18 at the time of the marriage, now lives here in washington. yesterday during a press conference, hayes admitted she was paid $5,000 for the marriage. she said the governor did not know about the marriage until the story broke this week. he is running for reelection.

victims says she is living in fear and believe other officers may have known what was going on in this crime. . police search for a violent robber. officers spent yesterday handing out flyers at the apartments on piney branch road. last week a woman was walking home when a man confronted her and demanded money. when she said she didn't have any, the man stabbed her several times. many worry he could strike a $10,000 reward is being offered for information. less than a month now until election day. it seems democrats are pulling out of a race in our area. according to the "washington post", the national democratic committee canceled the plan to spend millions of dollars on ads like this one for john foust. he is running for congress against barbara comstock in the 10th district where frank wolf is retiring. the committee says it plans to use that money to protect seats that are currently held by democrats tkphrao northern virginia school districts are trying to the find out the cost

of educating an influx of undocumented immigrants. there are 1700 living in the area. fairfax county is paying more than $14 million to educate them. loudoun county officials say they have no problems educating the children. they are starting a petition asking the federal government to pay. . a busy weekend for metro to slow down your commute. trains could be delayed on the red and orange lines due to track work. sunday trains will begin running two hours earlier. service will start at 5:00 in the morning to help those of you heading to the army 10-miler. the pentagon is the closest metro station to the starting line. pentagon city would be the next closest. on monday, which is columbus day, metro trail will open at 5:00 in the morning and close at midnight. this weekend you can save money on appliances in virginia. from today until monday, lots of things for your home are tax free. that means you'll save about 6%

in dallas, a deputy is now out of the hospital after testing negative for ebola. he complained of symptoms after responding to thomas duncan's apartment. duncan died of ebola on wednesday. you can imagine the concern when a man on a plane said he had ebola. >> we want to show you the flight crew's warning to passengers shortly after that comment. >> i want everybody to sit. i need your attention. okay. it's going to look worse than it is. >> this was on a us airways flight from philadelphia to the dominican republic. a man sneezed and then joke issed he had ebola. the flight crew took him seriously and called in hazmat. us airways said it followed guidelines from the centers for disease control. the man who caused the scare could face charges. and practicing how they would respond to a possible case of ebola. a team of doctors, nurses and responders held a drill at innova fairfax.
