new this morning, we're working to find out more about a fire that hurt three people including a firefighter as flames erupted inside montgomery county apartments on needwood boulevard. the victims e b put in the ambulance here. firefighters rescued those in the apartment. we have a crew headed to the scene and will bring you a live report as soon as we can. today city leaders are pushing to close the d.c. shelter where 8-year-old ralicia rudd was taken from. they want to replace the she felt we are a safe, modern and humane place to house families. rudd was living through with her family before she vanished in march. she was taken by a janitor at the shelter who later killed himself. >> a man accused of infecting women with hiv is going to be in court later today. daniel reeves could be brought here later this week.

he had unprotected sex with a woman in bethesda and did not tell her he was hiv positive. police say that he assaulted three women in virginia over the last year. you can save money of your taxes if the montgomery county council passes a parking lot tax bill. right now some of you have to pay a tax to finance parking lots in bethesda, wheattop and silver spring. turned bill, if you show that you have your own parking spaces, you won't have to pay the tax anymore. also, today is the first of many chances to talk to school super independent of fairfax schools. she'll be in the mount vernon area at 7:00 tonight to talk about the current state of the school system. she is in her second year as superintendent. today your feedback is welcome on the transformation of the prince george's plaza. the meeting is being held tonight at 6:30. they want to change the area into a vibrant downtown.

better way to describe it from the tower here looking down past the national cathedral. there's the washington mop yumt. the very fact that we can see the monument which is four to five miles straight distance from the camera means visibility is not bad in up to. some of the rural areas of montgomery, loudoun counties, there is a dense fog advisory through 9:00 this morning. the big view on the radar, notice all this moisture coming northbound just hits and misses of sprinkles and showers down in southwestern virginia. and best chances for rain today will be along to the west of the blue ridge west of the metro. that being said, you may want your umbrella the play it on the safe side. going out for the early morning run, i did mine yesterday afternoon, it is humid outside. temperatures, hourly temperatures through the morning rising out of the 60s and into the mid-70s by noontime today. so bus stop weather by later on this afternoon, breezy and warm. might see a sliver or two of

knows what it takes to contain the ebola virus. the first outbreak happened in 1976. gary cook lives in fairfax county and was a young foreign service officer who helped coordinate an international response the a disease that was ravaging a small village. he recalls the team of scientists who flew in from around the world to treat the then unknown virus. >> we had the a-team come in from the centers for disease control. i still remember the names of the heroes as they were dedicated and as young as i with, many of them. >> lessons from the 1976 outbreak are the subject of an article entitled "ebola then and now" published in last month's new england journal of medicine. this morning we hear from a mother who survived a crash that killed her two children and three others. she says she wishes she would have died as well. dossa boykin is now out of the

for the arab countries to do that. but without ground troops, this campaign could be the longer and less successful. all agree on that. what we are expecting today over at andrew's are ten arab countries and 11 other partners to sit down. their defense chiefs will shut down to talk about how they are going forward with this campaign. turkey could be key in that effort. turkey is now denying that they gave access to their bases for the u.s. and its coalition partners to use for the air strikes, but they do say they will help out with training of the syrian rebels against isis. >> tracie potts live on capitol hill for us. thank you. ending the fighting in ukraine will be the focus of a meeting between secretary of state john kerry and his russian counterpart. that meeting will be held in paris later this morning. ukraine says russia is following through on president vladimir putin's order to pull back troops from the border. ukraine, the u.s. and the european union accused the government in moscow of providing weapons, financing the

troops to pro-russian separatists in southeastern ukraine. moscow denies the allegations. oscar pistorius back in court for the second day of his sentencing hearing. right now his agent is on the stand testifying about his charity work. once the defense is done calling witnesses, the prosecution will have its turn. the phase of the hearing could last up to a week. pistorius was found guilty of culpab culpable homicide for killing his girlfriend, reeva steenkamp. he could face up to 15 years in prison. many classes are canceled after a storm spawned tornados in several states. it's blamed for two deaths, one in arkansas and one in alabama. more than 50 people now have arrest records after police detained them during protests in ferguson, missouri. protesters capped off days of demonstrations with a, quote, moral monday march from a church

it is cloudy out $rigthere righ now. good morning, everyone. >> good morning. we should expect very little in the way of sunshine today with a sliver or two. but by and large the clouds win out today and that will not impede the warm-up at all. our view from the tower cam looking over national cathedral, the washington monument is visible, so the fog is not as big of a problem as a couple hours ago. the dense fog advisory has been lifted. so just areas of locally, patchy fog. visibility is not that badly reduced. rain showers across southwestern virginia is part of the huge push of moisture that is coming in our direction for later on today, tonight and tomorrow. out the door on weather today, the best chance for rain. it's a slow chance, but 30% out to the west with temperatures in the 60s to near 70 degrees. so it will be a mild day today. county by county, we'll reach up to the mid to upper 70s today with only a quick shower or two possible. so by and large, getting the kids ready, short sleeves and maybe a precautionary umbrella.

news yesterday morning. we learned the fire at fred's sports in waldorf may have been intentionally set. chopper 4 flew over the scene. the state fire marshalls and the charles county sheriff's office say the store was robbed before the fire was started. the fire caused an estimated $1 million in damage. the montgomery county council is considering its options to improve student safety getting on and off school buses. since january 25th, the montgomery county buses have been comparing the bus tickets from four maryland counties. montgomery county with 25 cameras and issued more than 700 tickets. more than washington county, ten cameras and 112 tickets. frederick county and prince george's county had way fewer.
