before midnight last night. she said said to be in stable condition and in good spirits. she was flown from dallas to maryland in a special charter plane. she was flown into frederick municipal airport. she was wearing a special protective suit. she was walking off the plane holding the hand of an escort. she got into a waiting plans and began -- she was taken in an ambulance motorcade around area streets and ultimately here to nih here in bethesda. she has been taken to the special studies unit, a highly specialized unit equipped to deal with special diseases like ebola. there's space for two patients here. so she is in one of two beds. it was built back in 2000. the world renowned immunologist

will be overseeing her care. on exactly what will be done to treat her, that is unclear at this point. dr. falchi said they will have to completely examine her, assess the situation. it's unclear whether she will receive any experimental medications or not. it's too early to t megan mcgrath. eun, back to you >> leaders at nih say they are taking every precaution to make sure that campus remains safe as doctors treat this ebola case. >> many who commute using the metro stop says this case has their attention. >> worried at all? yeah, it's always a concern now that it's bepwpbeen shipped her it's become a reality. i take the metro every day. >> our medical system is pretty good. i feel if someone gets sick, they can handle it. >> it is one of four countries in the country with state-of-the-art unt and a high containment facility.

keep in mind ebola is not airborne and cannote transmitted by food or water. you can only get it through the blood or bodily fluid of an infected person. it does cause vomiting and diarrhea. that's why those who care for ebo ebola patients are at higher risk. a dallas care worker who handled a lab specimen is on a caribbean cruise ship. it took off from galveston, texas sunday. she has been self-quarantined. so far she has shown no signs of the disease and has been asymptomatic for 19 days. they are looking to return the woman and her husband to the u.s. before that ship completes its cruise. the other dallas nurse to contract ebola is stable. vinson has been treated at emery hospital in atlanta. frontier airlines is notifying more passengers about vinson.

now to a developing story. right now hurricane gonzalo is roaring towards bermuda. we are tracking this category 4 storm from every angle. we begin our team coverage with mallet green. >> eun, good morning. bermuda says it's ready for hurricane gonzalo. they are getting gas, boarding up buildings. this comes days after a tropical storm already knocked out power to thousands and damaged

property. most of the tiny island shut down. there's a high school that's open as a shelter. buildings are constructed to with stand heavy storms. but experts are saying there could be significa dage and power outages lasting for weeks. back to you. . storm team 4 meteorologist amelia siegel is in the storm team 4 weather center. what's the latest? >> the latest movement is towards the north northeast at 15 miles per hour. maximum sustained winds at 130 miles per hour just sou of bermuda as a category 4 hurricane. it passes over bermuda throughout the day today the, into tonight. during the evening hours between 5:00 and 10:00 p.m. a life threatening storm surge. hurricane force winds. 3 to 6 inches of rain. this will be the worst storm bermuda has seen in over 10 years.

eun, i'll be back in five minutes with what we can expect at home. throughout the day we will keep a close eye on the storm system as it impacts. we'll be watching hurricane gonzalo throughout the morning. look for a live report from bermuda on the "today" show right here on nbc 4. a man accused of jumping the white house fence last month is facing new charges today. a federal grand jury charged omar gonzalez with resisting arrest and carrying illegal ammunition in the district. they found 800 rounds, along with a machete and hatct his car. gonzalez pled not guilty to several other charges. we're learning more about the high school stude who shot and killed a girl at a high school in colorado. carl pierson told one classmate photos from the sandy hook school shooting were funny and showed another classmate pictures of the gun he planned to use. he was 18 years old.

he killed a girl and himself in that shooting last year. 6:18. today vice president e biden's son is answering questions about a failed drug test. the navy discharged hunter biden in february. he tested positive for cocaine last year. hunter biden is 44 years old. the vice president's office declined to comment on the story. a navy official said the news was not made public because it was treating biden like any other sailor. the judge is hearing closing arguments in the pistorius sentencing. they say just because he's a double amputee does not mean he should not go to prison. defense lawyers have en arguing for house arrest and community service. live inside the proceedings. he faces up to 15 years in prison for killing his girlfriend. he could be sentenced as early as tuesday. today marks 25 years since a deadly 6.9 magnitude earthquake

it will put us at more risk of ebola getting into our country. >> tracie, thank yo we just got a statement from carnival cruise le now confirming that a dallas lab tech who handled a specimen from an ebola patient is in isolation on its ship carnival magic. here's what the statement said in part. it is important to reiterate the individual has no symptoms and has been isolated in an extreme abundance of caution. there is no risk to the other passengers and the crew. but the woman and her husband will be kept in isolation. now, earlier this morning just a little bit ago we told you the state department is working to return the woman and her companion, her husband home before that ship completes its cruise. back to you. we are seeing and hearing from nina pham as she recovers
