also very disappointed that the candidate bowser is always so i wasn't sure -- she had every answer already laid out. i'm not quite sure how she feels about anything. david kattan yeah, i don't think he made his points. >> you hit it. it was style versus substance. what has lacked in most of these debates and being a d.c. resident, i mt tell you, i'm at a loss. i don't kn who i'm going to vote for at this point in time because no one wants to say what they will do and there's no proposalt out here. i want to see a candidate that will say, okay, i'm going to deal with the homeless problem and here is what mys are if elected. no one wants to go on the record and say exactly what they will do. >> i think they did give you a little bit of meat. bowser did talk about what she wants to do with the shelter at d.c. general. she wants to close it.
6:16 am
she wants to move folks into transiti homes. then the issue becomes what homes, where are you going to find them, how are you going to afford them? i think the style, the fact they were sitting so close together really gave you a sense of how tht abo each other. i thought sch made an interestg com when she said i didn't like -- i don't like the tone of some of the campaign, and she was really directing t kit tanya because of the issue that some is addressed at me but because i'm a woman. she's specifically saying she doesn't like the way he's dealing with bowser. >> what bothers me, the fact is they don't like each other. i don't care that they don't like each other. i want them to like th i want to know, you're absolute right. i plan to close d.c. general. then what are you going to do with these thousands of homeless people, homeless children. your plan after you close that? let tell you, there's only
6:17 am
one reason they want to close d.c. general. that's probably some of the most valuable property in washington, and the developers are hungry for that property. >> the mayor says he's going to use that property once again as a homeless shelter. >> no, he's not. >> what mayor? >> the former mayor. >> the lame duck mayor. >> i also think a very important issue that was brought up and talked about with bowser, the fact she's not going out to these forums. she's not answering these m sherwood put that forward. he said you've been ver passive. she shot back and said no, i haven't been passive. her response was i thought it was importa to involved in the debates, those that were aired, either through radio or televised becau it would get to more people. there was an opening i thought for kit tanya to go in and he didn't hit that. schwartz did. it comes back to what i said
6:18 am
in the beginning, bowser likes it scripted. she like those time queues to t on and off. her in an open forum in a room where the citizens just have at it, she doesn't want to do that. >> s the person beat. she's ahead. why not play it safe? >> you can play it too safe. let me give you an example. there's a candidate's forum, is it penn station? that's got to be one of the most high voting districts in the city. she's not there. she's not on the list to even be there. remember, this is a city of neighborho you can play this, i'll do tv because that will reach everybody. how did adrian fenty win? he walked those neighborhoods door-to-do. this isn't a presidential election, a gubernatorial election.
6:19 am
want to know you, see you. that'ssafe, but as she starts to falter, it's going to be because she didn't connect. >> what does this say, joe, both of you, about the type of mayor she would be should she win? >> connect. >> and would she want to or would she close herself off? >> i don't think it's more dangerous or not. i don't thk w it's she connects or not. i'm afraid she'll be become a mayor that will rule the city by whim, by what she's feeling about right now or what the polls are saying right now e she stands.n't absolutel sh s to any communities, to a point of view around housing or on in the middle, dancing back and forth. without her actually having a commitmey abo what the leadership is going to loong like. i d worry about that as much. pe do all kinds of things during campaigns. and then once they get the
