dealing with another security breach. another man scaled the white house fence last night. this time the result was very different. megan mcgrath has a look at how the secret service responded. megan? >> reporter: aaron, yeah. this time it was quite different. the jumper did not get very far, 20 feet from the fence before he was taken down by secret service and dogs. you can hear the commotion. it was just after 7:00 last night and just about a month after another man jumped the fence at the white house and actually made it inside. now, after that incident, an additional barrier was put up in front of the fence at the white house. that didn't stop asana. he scaled the barrier and the fence itself. secret service released their

dogs, however, and took asana down and arrested. only got a short distance inside on the grounds. only 20 feet from the fence before he was arrested. the president was home at the time. cret service said there was no danger to the president. two dogs were injured in the commotion. apparently they were kicked. they are being treated by a veterinarian. live at the white house, megan mcgrath >> a trial could be set for the man accused of three high-profile murders in alexandria. charles severance will be in court for a pretrial hearing a. judge roush is also expected to rule on whether to allow cameras in the court. severance is accused of murdering three. judge roush is best known for presiding over convicted d.c. sniper lee boyd malvo. montgomery county police looking for two men who held up a shell gas station in

gaithersburg. shots were fired on shady grove road around 1:00 a.m. you can see the front door is shattered by bullets. nobody was hurt. police say the suspects were well disguised with ski masks and gloves. no word how much money they got away with. >> a navyman is now in the hands of a judge. lee hall is accused of funneling money under a classified contract to build hundreds of untraceable rifle silencers. the the contract was not authorized and hall only sent the money to help out an acquaintance. his defense lawyer said he had a legitimate need for the rifle silencers, which were part of the classified program. a vote today could determine what time your children go to school next year. the fairfax county school board will decide what time they will change. high school at 8:00, middle school at 7:30 and elementary

bit more about his past. we know bibeau was actually arrested several times the last 10 years on drugs and robbery charges. once on weapons charges as well. his passport was recently confiscated by authorities because they feel he was going to fight with extremists. people we talked to have said he only talked about going to study his religion. he recently converted to islam. this attack comes on the heels of one monday when a suspect again with ties to islamic extremists used his car to run down two military officers. one of those died in that attack. so this country reeling right now. though the prime minister said last night they will not bough to any pressure or any attacks and it only strengthens their resolve. in the wake of what's happened here, parliament will be seated

range. he was shot and killed by officer darren wilson in ferguson, missouri back in august. a local newspaper obtained a copy of the report. it says brown was shot after a study with officer wilson and suggests brown may have been reaching for the gun and was shot in the hand. the official report differs from the family autopsy that said brown was shot from a distance while trying to surrender. . new this morning, a 3-month-old girl killed in a train station attack in israel was an american. yesterday a man ran over nine people outside a jerusalem train station. the baby's parents were also americans and hurt in the crash. israeli police shot the man as they tried to run away. he is a palestinian man with a history of anti-israel violence. israel is blaming hamas for this attack. the case of three teenage girls investigated for trying to join isis raises more concerns about how terror groups are using social media for

recruitment. two sisters and their 15-year-old friend managed to buy tickets from denver to istanbul, turkey. they were laid over in germany. someone online encouraged them to travel to syria. classmates said all three discussed their travel plans on twitter. nothing showed the girls had been encouraged to fight for isis. you can make your decision official in maryland. early voting begins today. all registered voters can cast a ballot today. select polling sites open from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 in the evening. you're encouraged to get to your polling place before 4:00. early voting next thursday, october 30th. today candidates running for mayor in d.c. will participate in another forum. it starts at 7:00 tonight at plymouth congregational church in d.c. ward 4. independence carol schwartz and

david catania have confirmed their attendance. muriel bowser will attend another event despite ward 4 being her home turf. mark seagraves will serve as a panelist. an elementary school will get a new name. discovery elementary is named after the space shuttle "discovery" and will honor john glenn, who became the oldest person in space. the school board is making a final decision on that name. if you feel like you're being harassed online, you're not alone. 40% say they have experienced online harassment. more than 70% of young people were harassed. it included verbal, physical, and stalking. they said they were being harassed by people they did not know. 5:21 is our time right now.

little volume. up in maryland, bw parkway, colesville, all of that looking quite good. no major issues. i'm back at 5:41 with travel times. we are following a number of developments on ebola this morning. a dallas nurse with the disease could soon be be on her way home. the family of amber vinson say doctors no longer detect ebola in her system. she contracted after caring for thomas duncan earlier this month. vinson traveled to ohio before she was diagnosed with ebola. officials are monitoring the health of 164 people who came in contact with her. this morning the photographer now free of ebola says he still doesn't know how he contracted that disease. amokpo is now out of the hospital and says he is thankful to be alive. he was at the site of various news organizations in liberia.

talk to their students about what they can and cannot bring to school. a high school in prince george's county is taking rumors seriously and sounding the alarm about possible violence at six flags this weekend. suit land's high school principal sent the message to parents and mentioned gangs planning to go retaliate for a fight at six flags last month where a teen was critically hurt. six flags responded saying it has stepped up security. turning to decision 2014 this morning. candidates in the 7th district will speak at a forum in richmond. dave brat, jack jamal and james carr will all take part. brat upset eric canter in the june primary. they will take part in a debate later this month at randolph macon college where they both teach. a new report shows colleges are not doing enough to handle

came down because of the weather. they put out the fire and closed the gas line. nobody was hurt. 5:55. metro is going to get an update today. >> track problems caused a might mayor commute on the red line. you probably remember this from last month. a cracked rail outside dupont circle caused big delays and platforms for thousands of customers. now revealing miscommunication and mis-steps. it took 45 minutes for metro to start repairs. a supervisor went with the wrong crew and had to wait for the right equipment. documents reveal something unusual was noticed on the track 13 days before the rail cracked. commuters say they had gotten used to these delays. >> i know when i take longer rides it doesn't work so well. >> i'm expecting at what point are we going to stop again. >> metro says it is changing inspection procedures because of this incident. a warning for you this morning, the total number of air bags linked to a dangerous

defect is growing again. cnbc's kate rogers is live with for your money. kate, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, eun. u.s. prosecutors are reportedly investigating whether japanese auto parts makers misled regulators about the number of defective air bags it sold to automakers. they have increased the number of cars that could be affected to at least $7.8 million. air bags that inflate could release metal shrapnel. they have been linked to four deaths and several lawsuits. bank of america is apologizing for double billing customers who made purchases using apple's new mobile pay service. the glitch affected about 1,000 transactions. and it will refund the extra charges. apple says it's aware of the problem. back to you. kate rogers, thanks so much, kate. virginia governor terry mcauliffe says he is still paying off his debts from last year's gubernatorial campaign.
