they win tonight over green bay 44-23. game balls, drew brees as you might suspect, brees for the night. 27 of 32. 310 yards, no picks and three tds. mark ingram carried it 24 times for 172 yards and a touchdown. cam jordan had a couple of sacks. all three get game balls and their likenesses on the side of the sunday night football bus and two of them, brees and ingraham get the talk of talking with michelle. >> drew, earlier you told us this offense was sort of like a race horse that had been held back too long and you just needed to let the reigns loose. why was tonight the night? >> well, because the season is passing us by. so we had to get it together. great night to do it. sunday night football here in the super dome. we're able to turn it loose. we hit on all cylinders. run game is great. mark had a great night. offensive line did phenomenal. defense came up with huge plays. stopped them in the red zone and got turnovers.

it was a great team victory. >> mention the offensive line, tim lolita makes his first career start at center. yet the line doesn't seem to miss a beat. what stood out about their performance? >> well, you know, they hand ld a lot. down the stretch you want to be able to close out games offensively. in many cases you have to do that with the run game. and our guy dz a great job of it. last two drives, it was just all runs. and they powered their way through it. mark had a big run at the end to seal the deal with the touchdown. but can't say enough about the guys up front. >> and mark ingram who we're going to talk to next, big, big night. career night. what was it that made this the time for him to breakthrough? >> well, you know, when he two backs down, pierre and mark carried the load and did it masterfully. obviously, guys up front did a heck of a job to get him the holes that he got. man, he made a the love guys miss and broke a lot of tackles. listen, he just did what we all know he can do and we've seen it

right now on news4, an overcrowding crisis. >> we're definitely dealing with some crowding. we're building as fast as we can, but we're going to need more help. >> your first look at how montgomery county plans to ease schools. the quarantine controversy. and we're tracking a big temperature drop in the forecast. maryland's largest school district is about to make a big announcement. news4 has learned the head of montgomery county schools will reveal expansion plans in the

next 48 hours. the district's been under increasing pressure to find space for students. scott mcfarland reports, the announcement includes a warning for several high schools. >> reporter: when the kids go to school tomorrow morning, truly thousands of them will be in portable classrooms like this one, trailers out of the main school. prince georges and here in montgomery county, too. but in montgomery county, the problem is now growing beyond the elementary schools but there's crowding at middle and high schools, too. so much so, news4 learned in the coming weeks the county will announce multiple major efforts to try to deal with it. >> the superintendent will flag four high schools saying there's soon to be large space deficits. the coming years, those four schools will have 1,300 more students than capacity. the district expected to ask state leaders for more money to expand. >> we're dealing with some crowding. we're building as fast as we can. but we're going to need more

help. >> repor rece weeks, schools throughout maryland and virginia have responded to a surge of new kids by installing portable trailers outside. 100 new trailers just this autumn at public schools in the d.c. area, according to our review. including for principal pam, suddenly you have a whole village. >> i do. i used to have a few. i have two on the other side of my school and i'm up to five now. >> reporter: this problem spreading to high schools in montgomery county. trailers alone won't do. the president said they'll ask the state to provide money for new buildings. >> we don't want the safety concerns nor the stigma with kids being outside of the school, so we need that school construction money. >> reporter: montgomery school announcement about the growing, crowding concerns expected tuesday morning. scott mcfarland, news there 4. get ready for a chilly start to the workweek. in fact n a matter of hours, some of you could wake up to frost. meteorologist amelia segel has been tracking the latest.

>> we're worried about patchy frost. those of you well west of washington. because of this concern, the national weather service issued a frost advisory for areas like frederick county, maryland. all the counties here in blue on this map. it will run from 3:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on your monday. so some light frost is possible in these areas. what does that mean for you if you live there? you want to protect any sensitive plants either by covering them or bringing them indoors. what it means for everybody, a chilly start on your monday morning. temperatures in washington and off to the east, not so bad, low to mid 50s. relative to areas back to the west where you'll see low temperatures tomorrow morning in the low 30s. we're in for a beautiful day after that chilly start. balmy on tuesday but then a big temperature drop. i'll let you know just how much we'll fall in my full forecast in about ten minutes. >> thanks, amelia. major changes begin monday to keep ebola from becoming an

outbreak in the united states. the centers for disease control will start monitoring everyone flying into the u.s. from countries hit by ebola. and those travelers will be required to check in with their local health department and have their temperatures taken as well. the cdc is implements the program at six airports. we've also learned tonight that virginia plans to release details about its ebola response plan on monday. the federal government has been warning local officials that aggressive quarantines could backfire. and now the governors of new york and new jersey are loosening their restrictions. but health care workers who had direct contact with ebola patients in west africa will still be isolated in their homes. jay gray has the latest on the american doctor infected with the virus. a to the medical team at this hospital, dr. craig spencer's systems have intensified. >> people tend to get worse before they get better with this disease. so, he remains in stable condition, but we are aware that this is the natural course of

this disease. >> reporter: as part of his on going treatment, we now now dr. spencer has received plasma from nancy and this afternoon, new york city's mayor thanked the team caring for him. >> we need to respect our nurses, our doctors, our lab technicians, they are the first responders in this crisis and they are doing an absolutely extraordinary job. >> reporter: overnight, spencer's fiance was released from the hospital still, she'll be monitored daily and must remain quarantined inside the couple's harlem apartment. >> we'll make sure in collaboration with many different agencies around the city that this person needs are taken care of. >> kaci hickox tested negative for ebola after returning from sierra leon friday. she remains in isolation at a newark hospital tonight because of a mandatory quarantine order now in effect in new jersey. the same measure is in place in new york and illinois right now. humanitarian groups say the quarantine is unnecessary. and hickox said this is not a

situation i would wish upon anyone. and that she was scared and made to feel like a criminal. >> i understand ms. hickox is uncomfortable and i understand that she doesn't want to be quarantined, but my responsibility, my greater responsibility the 8.9 million people the state of new jersey. >> federal, state and hospital teams all continue to evaluate hickox's condition tonight. jay gray, nbc news, new york. the nurse that jay mentioned is planning to file a federal lawsuit after new jersey forced her into that mandatory quarantine. as he mentioned, kaci hickox tested negative for ebola and her attorney says these new rules violate her civil rights. dr. anthony calls the quarantine an overreaction. the u.s. ambassador to the united nations is in west africa tonight. samantha powers spoke exclusively to nbc news and warned officials not to create rules to help keep health care

workers from traveling to where they're needed most. >> we need to find the right balance of addressing the legitimate concerns that people have and incentivizing these heroes. >> powers is in beginny now. she'll visit liberia to demonstrate u.s. support for those nations. a desperate search is on for a 12-year-old girl who hasn't been home all weekend. she disappeared friday afternoon in northeast d.c. near 18th and constitution. she was last seen near elliott high middle school wearing khaki pants and white zipup sweatshirt with a hood. the community is wrapping up a somber homecoming weekend in charlottesville as they remember hannah graham. this make-shift memorial on campus has been getting bigger as fellow students leave flowers and students in her memory. police announced friday the remains found on friday belong to graham. jesse matthews is still in jail

but police could bring him to fair fax county to face charges that he allegedly raped another woman in 2005. well, the latest man to be accused of jumping the white house fence will head back to court in the morning. and we could learn more details on what dominic adesanya was thinking when he hopped the fence and ran across the north lawn. secret service officers and k nine dogs intercepted him wednesday as adesanya raced across the grounds. this was adesanya's third arrest near the white house since july. a court-ordered psych evaluation will be presented during his hearing. this neighborhood is the site of an on going murder investigation. someone shot and killed a man named ellis anderson last night. police are offering a $25,000 reward for information that helps find anderson's killer. d.c. police are also investigating a violent attack on a woman near a metro station.

she was close to this metro friday night when investigators say a man pulled a gun and sexually assaulted her. police are still looking for that suspect. new tonight a major league baseball player has been killed in a car crash, the st. louis cardinals confirm outfielder oscar tavaris died in the dominican republic where he's from. his girlfriend was also killed in the crash. he was called up to the big leagues this season and some scouts say he had all the makings of an all-star. in washington state, the high school has cancelled classes this week as students deal with the fallout from a deadly shooting. tonight we know two 14-year-old girls are in critical condition. two boys are still in the hospital and they're both cousins of the alleged shooter. police say jaylen fryberg killed himself but the question they still can't answer is why. >> he had a look on his face like he was just realizing what he did and i think he had a change of heart. if he wanted to, he could have

counting the leadup to election day, mrs. clinton will be at the university of maryland thursday to attend a rally for anthony brown. a real clear politics chose brown with an 11-point lead in the race for republican governor. larry has had his share of political backing. chris christie spoke with him in bethesda. 30,000 strong representing 59 countries descended on d.c. and virginia for the marine corpse marathon. cheering crowds were there to greet them on the route. they crossed into georgetown and ran around the monument. it's the marine carp marathon,

drivers coming eastbound on columbia pike and won't go back to normal for another six months which means no relief until spring. millions of dollars was spent to build a new bus line connecting alexandria and arlington and may have been money wasted. dominion has to build a new transmission line and it could cut right through route one. dominion hasn't said which route it will recommend but the metro way lanes are a big possibility and could mean ripping up the road. dozens of family are preparing to evacuate hawaii as red hot lava oozes closer and closer to their homes. police in a rural town on the big island have been cautiously waiting since the volcano erupted earlier this summer. the lava has been slowly moving down the hill. now it's less than a mile away from town, burning at 2,000 degrees. officials have warned residents they may need to leave by tuesday.
