storm team 4 x 4 hits the road. thank you. 6:02. today new rules in effect for travelers coming into the u.s. from west africa. kristen wright live at dulles airport to tell us about the plan to keep folks safe from ebola. kristen, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, aaron. the new rules are for every single traveler coming to the u.s. for the three west africa an countries suffering the most from ebola. this is what the travelers will have to report. their temperature, ebola symptoms. even the lack of symptoms. and also travel plans. state health departments are decided how the information is reported, whether in person, phone, skype, facetime. all travelers from guinea, liberia and sierra leone will have to provide several ways to get in touch with them so health officials can find them if they fail to report how they're doing

right now we are following a developing story. new steps to fight the spread of ebola this morning. just one story we're following to get you up to the minute the minute you're up. we start with kate snow in new york. kate, good morning. good morning, aaron and eun. a lot of debate over the new policies that several states have enacted. new jersey, new york, illinois calling for a mandatory quarantine. anybody who has been in west africa, coming back to the u.s. who has treated ebola patients are meant to be put in quarantine. last night very late we had word from the new york state governor these quarantines could happen at people's homes. they don't have to be placed in hospitals. there's been a lot of reaction to a case in new jersey.

a woman who has become the poster child of all of this. a nurse kaci hickox returned on friday and was put in quarantine in a tent outside a hospital there. she complained very loudly about this, saying it was all mishandled. in fact, she has now hired an attorney and plans to file a federal lawsuit to try to overturn the quarantine. republican chris christie standing by the policy saying he's protecting the public health. back to you. all right. kate snow live in new york city. thank you, kate. in our area, travelers are not required to be quarantined. >> however, the cdc is taking steps to track any possible ebola case. kristen wright will tell us about the new rules for travelers there. chris ten, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. six states, including virginia and maryland will see the new rules today. new screening measures for all travelers arriving to dulles from liberia, guinea and sierra

leone. the new measures are for people whose travel originates in the three west africa nations. here's how it work these travelers receive what the cdc calls a care kit or a kit to check for ebola. a thermometer, log and a description of pictures and symptoms. they are to report every day for 21 days. the incubation period for the ebola virus. they have to report their temperature, ebola symptoms. even the lack of symptoms, and travel plans. state health departments decide how the information is reported, whether it be in had person, by phone, skype or facetime. they have to provide contact information. for example, two phone numbers, two e-mail addresses, an address where they will be for the next 21 takes, a home address and the
