dallas. this morning, how the team will now approach the quarterback situation. but first, here's storm team 4 meteorologist tom kierein now with a look at how things will be at the bus stop this morning. tom, good morning to you. good morning. much warmer this morning than yesterday morning. but wear one layer before you head out the door. it's cool with temperatures hovering in the low 50s in the suburbs and rural areas. right near washington near 60 degrees for the next couple of hours, we'll have buses between 8:00 and 9:00, close to 60 degrees. some high clouds coming through with a little bit of sunshine in and out throughout the morning. there's the sky over washington now, mostly cloudy. headlines for the day after this cool morning, a warm afternoon. it will be almost summer-like by later this afternoon. then a big chance of rain tomorrow. a change moving in and turning cooler as well. temperatures around the region now, the metro area hovering in the 50s. most locations will see the 40s.

gaithersburg is off to a frosty start with a much milder morning this morning. the next weather and traffic on the 1s with storm team 4x4 hitting the road with your neighborhood highs today. now melissa, we are looking at big backups. we are talking 95 southbound at 32. take a look at this. all those people headed into town. we just had a crash and a vehicle off to the right side of the roadway here still with major slowdowns because of that one-mile backup at this point this morning. your best alternate is bw parkway heading out any time soon because the backups probably will build. outbound at new hampshire avenue, we saw this on a camera with construction taking up the two right lanes. you're only getting by on the left. beltway at georgia avenue is looking good this morning. no major problems there. 95 at prince william parkway also moving right along. that's what we like to see. then all lanes closed near budds creek road at thompson corner. your alternate is iron mine place. i'm back in ten minutes for weather and traffic on the 1s. see you then, melissa.

thank you. your time is 6:02. new this morning, an apartment complex in prince george's county at the scene of a deadly shooting. a man was shot inside the fairmont apartment complex on chillum road. police were there until 3:00 this morning. it's not clear whether there are any suspects. also in prince george's county, the location where a man's body was found could help police track down a killer. a 911 tip led police to cedarville road in brandywine. prince george's police found the man's body near a car in a wooded area there. that land is used as a sand and gravel pit. police admit because the location is so remote, whomever called 911 may have something to do with the investigation. right now one person in maryland is in isolation after showing symptoms that are similar to ebola. that patient is now being treated at the university of maryland medical center in baltimore. doctors are waiting for lab tests to return but an initial evaluation suggests that it is not ebola. the state health department has

not revealed whether the patient recently returned from west africa. we now know how airports in virginia and maryland plan to handle people returning from west africa. in virginia anyone who arrives from liberia, sierra leone or guinea will have to sign an agreement they will monitor themselves for 21 days. everyone will be asked to take their temperature twice daily. and anyone who refuses could be involuntarily quarantined. the plan is largely the same in maryland except the travelers have to take their temperature four times a day. those considered high-risk will be required to stay home. the 5-year-old in new york who was showing ebola-like symptoms has tested negative for the deadly diase. >> he's still in isolation right now because more negative tests are required. meanwhile, the new york doctors who tested positive last week is in serious but stable condition. doctors say he's improving. the nurse who was forcibly quarantined in new jersey has

been released calling her treatment inhumane. if you have ebola questions, we have the answers for you as we continually update our what to know article on nbcwashington.com. it is 6:04. montgomery county schools are taking a new step to make sure your child is in a comfortable learning environment every day. megan mcgrath is live at bell elementary school in rockville now with more on today's big announcement. megan, good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning. montgomery county schools have seen quite a boom in enrollment in recent years. up more than 2,000 kids since 2011 and expected to go up by 11,000 students over the next six years. classroom trailers have become all too common a site with much of the growth being seen in the elementary school. but if those kids are getting older, we are now starting to see the crunch in the middle and high schools as well. school superintendent joshua starr today is going to unveil his construction recommendations and he's going to be asking the state for money to help pay for

that plan to ease overcrowding. space is very tight at four high schools, in particular. take a look. montgomery blair, einstein, john f. kennedy and northwood high school. starr says they will spoon have space deficits at the schools with 1300 more students than the capacity can handle. so certainly a situation to be remedied here. and we're going to be hearing more from the superintendent later on this morning. he's going to be here at bell elementary and will discuss his plan and how he hopes that is going to ease the overcrowding. reporting live in rockville, megan mcgrath, news4. back to you. thank you. well, with the redskins' huge win over the cowboys, everybody is asking, who is going to be the quarterback next week? >> news4's sports reporter diana rouissini asked the coach point-blank and he said, we'll see. >> and colt mccoy led to two victories now.

weather is in the 40s and 50s this morning, but that will not last long with the sun up at 7:30. the low to mid-70s by noon with afternoon highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. that is 15 degrees warmer than average. i suspect there will be a lot of kids out here at college park wearing shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops by later this afternoon. coming up in ten minutes, tom is tracking the next chance for rain and of course cooler weather in time for halloween. that's in ten minutes. for now, it's first 4 traffic with melissa mollet. taking a look at 95 southbound at 32, these folks are headed southbound. we were jammed for a mile at this point as chopper pans back. thank you, chopper, for that shot because of the earlier crash. that crash is now completely out of the way. still, we are seeing pretty good delays at this point this morning. so if you want, you could take bw parkway to avoid it altogether, but it looks to be clearing up just a bit at this point this morning.

a family tragedy with a man lling his daughter, granddaughter and then himself. his 10-year-old grandson manages to escape. an investigation is underway now at a home in seattle after the boy called 911 to report the shooting. police say it appears to be the result of domestic violence. the boy is shaken up but in the care of relatives now. angie goff, thank you. developing now, parts of hawaii are bracing for a disaster with lava close to people's homes. safety officials say the lava is moving between 5 to 10 yards every hour and that means it could be as close as a dozen

yards away. a lot of people on the east coast of hawaii have left town. some are sheltering in nearby churches right now. a d.c. elementary school is undergoing a deep clean after one of its teachers contracted the viral meningitis. students at peabody elementary school were sent home with a letter yesterday describing the virus' symptoms. a department of health spokeswoman says the organization does not believe that children are in any great danger of contracting the disease. the school will stay open as cleaning continues. it's important to note that this is a case of viral meningitis, which is less serious than life-threatening bacterial meningitis. symptoms include a sudden fever, headache and stiff necks and can spread within contact from an infected person. the cdc suggests you wash your hands frequently. viral meningitis doesn't require specific treatment. patients recover on their own in seven to ten days. since viral and bacterial meningitis symptoms are similar, call your doctor right away if you think you or your child

the launch tonight because we'll have a lot of cloudiness around. between now and then, high clouds drifting in. dress in layers today as we are going to have up and down temperatures over the next 24 hours. driving this morning as you head out, you'll need the heat on in the mid-50s between 8:00 to 9:00 with clouds coming and going. then turn on the a.c. the afternoon will be up near 80 degrees with a lot of high clouds drifting over the region. yes, what to wear today, dress for a summer-like afternoon with shorts and short sleeves. you'll need one layer, though, on this morning because it is rather cool. right now we're just hovering near 50 degrees in the nearby suburbs and in the rural areas, some locations have dipped down into the upper 40s. most of the region in the upper 70s to near 80 this afternoon under a partly sunny sky. and then that's going to be it. a big change moves in tomorrow. morning lows in the upper 50s. afternoon highs just in the upper 60s. that's still above the average high of 64. a chance for a passing shower as

good. and the beltway at colesville road looking good. 95 southbound at 32, we have an earlier crash that was getting delays. the delays are diminishing for us this morning. then this is not outbound at new hampshire avenue. montrose road there looking just fine. metro, marc and vre on time. no major problems there for us this morning. that is looking quite good. back in ten minutes. thank you, melissa. i'm angie goff with news out of north korea. and south korea as the south korea spy agency tells lawmakers they know why kim jong-un has been missing from the public eye for a month and a half. he was seen walking with a cane and they are saying he underwent ankle surgery to remove a cyst. and it wasn't immediately clear how the spy agency got this information, but we know that kim blames the absence from the

public view triggering a lot of information about his public health. and earlier this month he was seen on stage or tv wobbling and walking with a cane. that's the latest from the live desk. back to you. thank you. 6:23. d.c. united fans have to wait a little longer to learn the future of the team's new stadium. a study on the stadium will be released after next week's election. that study was supposed to come out today but "the post" says council members are weighing on the study before they decide whether to support the stadium. if approved, it will be built at buzzard point in southwest d.c. a new report shows the gender pay gap is still very wide. the u.s. is 65th among a 142 countries in terms of wage equality. the gab closed 1% in the past year to 66%. right now the data shows women earn about two-thirds of what men earn for similar work. the report says it could take another 81 years before the pay

gap closes. take a look at the dash camera video with the police chase ending with a suspect crashing into a bar outside of cleveland. more than a dozen people were hurt. this happened last thursday. police just released this video. a 26-year-old man was behind the wheel of a stolen truck and the driver ran over stop sticks and crashed right into the bar. the man faces several charges. 6:24 now. if you dvr'd "the blacklist" you may get to see me today as i make a cameo appearance. take a look. >> police arrested a man they say is a coast associate of rennington and who may be able to lead them to the loosive concierge of crime. >> there's my clip, all three seconds of it where i play an anchor. a stretch, right? watch "the blacklist" monday nights at 10:00 on nbc4. it's quite the intense show.

montgomery county, bethesda, right now they are at 53 degrees. the northern part of the country is in the upper 40s. later today, most of montgomery county including bethesda again into the upper 70s like elsewhere. downtown may be up near 80 degrees right in the district of columbia by mid-afternoon. the next weather and traffic on the 1s. the storm team 4x4 is on the road with your hour by hour forecast. melissa is looking at big backups building all morning. 95 southbound as you approach 32 still a problem from the earlier crash out of the way. but it's still quite close. just be careful headed out. you may want to take the bw parkway. that is moving right along. 95 just north of prince william parkway also looking quite good for us this morning. the beltway at central avenue seeing volume, but no major problems at this point. as far as metro, marc and vre, everything is looking good on time. that's what we like to see, especially early in the morning. then chopper is headed to the

country east. we'll have more coming up. a maryland trooper was hurt with a crash on the beltway at 2:00 a.m. south of route 50. we know two others were involved in the accident. the officer and one other person are recovering in the hospital. police are trying to figure out what caused the crash. right now d.c. police are offering $10,000 if you can help them solve a carjacking. take a slow look at this video here. police gave us this security video on and want to talk to the two people you see here. they are called persons of interest but not suspects in the case. this happened on rhode island northeast earlier this month. for the first time since hannah graham's body was found, the man charged in her abduction will be back in court. jesse matthew appeared in fairfax county court in a district case. he'll be charged in a fairfax rape case of 2005 and appear in

welcome back. if you have had problems with your e-z pass, listen to this story. the company that operates the 495 in virginia has begun the first time forgiveness program for drivers. >> it's hard to say. that means that it waives the fee for those who unknowingly didn't pay the toll with their e-z pass for any reason, but that's only for the first offense. the drivers criticize the company for charging too much in fees. you have 60 days after the infraction to get the fees waived. you have to know what you're doing when getting on the roads.

after filling out their hogan iquestionaire, aight. hogan was awarded an a- from the nra. but now he refuses to release his responses. the nra opposes comprehensive background checks. they want to weaken maryland's gun safety laws. even support letting suspects on the fbi terror watch list buy guns. on gun safety and terror, the nra is wrong. hogan gets an a- from the nra. on protecting maryland, we just can't trust him. i got hit with a couple foul balls and didn't really (david) you've got to be a little off to be a catcher. think anything of it. i felt a little foggy. i couldn't eat. the anger came really quick. when i'd go to swing, the ball would disappear. my wife said if you don't tell the doctors i'm going to. they sent me to upmc. they said you got a pretty good concussion. they gave me a plan, like a rehab for your brain. just to come from that to catch the last out of the series.

"news4 today" is working to get you up to the minute the minute you're up. >> we'll start with megan mcgrath in montgomery county looking at a request the school board is looking at. >> reporter: they are going to be requesting money from the state to hand tell overcrowding situation. there's been an influx of kids into montgomery county's public school system the last couple years and it's causing issues with crowding. 16,000 children have entered the school system since 2007 and they expect to grow by another 11,000 students overjuction the next six years. classroom trailers are a common sight here. a lot of the crowding is happening in the elementary school. what is happening is those kids are growing up and moving through the school system. so now we are starting to see the crunch in the middle schools and behind schools as well. later today the neighborhood

right now temperatures are in the 50s to near 60 degrees in shenandoah valley and east of there. northern virginia in the low to mid-50s. maryland is in the low to mid-50s. but a few spots hit the 40s near gaithersburg and the bay to the upper 50s. in washington, the mid-50s. it will stay cool in the 50s between now and 8:00. between 8:00 and 9:00, jumping to 60 degrees almost everywhere. then this afternoon summer-like near 80 degrees. partly sunny with high clouds drifting through from time to time during the afternoon. and even though it will be feeling like awe thumb taken a few days ago, a peek at that. tomorrow is cooler with a lot of clouds in the upper 60s. might get a shower late morning or during the early part of the afternoon. much cooler on thursday and friday. 40s in the morning, afternoon highs near 60.
