degrees, everybody basking in the sunshine. a far cry from that. take a look outside. storm team radar sill picking up a few showers in portions of the region, most all down south towards southern maryland. looking from the d.c. area to the rest, no need to worry about rain. you can see where that frontal boundary is, that front continues to move through the region. behind it, boy, have we cooled dramatically, 20-30 degrees cooler than where we were this time. near 80 in virginia beach. that colder air is moving across that area, too and it will get even colder through the weekend. >> now, to a growing number of meningitis patients, the first patient diagnosed by monday. by saturday, there were 11 confirmed or suspected cases. today, that number jumped again 20 at least 20.

kristin wright joins us to talk about what contained the virus. >> reporter: the suspected cases of viral meningitis on campus are all students. the campus' health director says they will be just fine. in the meantime, they are trying to prevent any else from getting the infection. initially, we were told the students diagnosed with viral meningitis were in close physical contact in some way and now it has spread beyond the initial cluster. the word is spread out that the best thing is hand-washing. they're cleaning shared centers danger campus. they suggest they avoid close contact like kissing or sharing glasses. it's important to make clear it's viral meningitis, not as dangerous as bacterial b

we have an update on story we told you about yesterday, potentially defective and dangerous guard rails. they have order all contractors to immediately notify them if there are plans to install these questionable guard rails danger the state. transportation leaders say a cost cutting design change made by texas-based trinity industries, could make the guardra guar pierce your car instead of absorbing the impact in a trash. virginia said they would replace any guard rails that could do more harm than good. there's a new resource out there for any who may have been secretly spied on by a rabbi. the u.s. attorney's office have set up a hot list. he is accused of setting up a hidden camera to record women undressing for a ritual bath at

a center in georgetown. prosecutors want victims to give them a call. 202-252-7585. a former school bus driver is on probation tonight after being accused of asulting a special needs student. he used to be a driver in fairfax county. police documents show he was accused of fondling a 13-year-old girl while strapping her into a special bus seat back in may. he reportedly told his supervisor, it was quote just a tickle game. miller has also been ordered to stay away from minors an get a s sex offender evaluation. competition isn't thing on thing stressing out some students playing local sports. coaches and athletic directors say bullying from parents is a growing problem during the game and the meets. kids we talk to say they're hearing disparaging comments coming from the moms and dad's on the sidelines. >> it makes me feel a little bad

tonight, we have learned the victim of a deadly accident in maryland, in edgewater was killed while riding in a truck that crashed into a cement median in huntingtown. the 2-year-old was in the truck at the time and taken to the hospital along with the driver. police tell us the driver lost control. they have not said why. it's the law in maryland and virginia. move over if you see emergency vehicles on the side of the

had pulled over and jackknifed and crashed ahead of me. >> reporter: the truck driver admitted to falling asleep. the truck driver was fined and the trooper and the woman he pulled over both had to rush to the hospital and made it but trooper jackson still working off his injuries. he says he doesn't think enough people know the move over law. what exactly is it? >> when you're approaching the rear of a vehicle and emergency lights are activated, move to an open lane adjacent to you, and if that lane is not open, slow down your speed dramatically. >> reporter: slowing down your speed the most important thing to remember. since the end of september, maryland state police report five crashes with cruisers on the side of the road and this shows another close call on i-70 in washington county. today, we got a chance to see it up close for ourselves, police letting us tag along on a traffic stop on 270. you can see there isn't much

typically when we talk about bullying we talk about kids being mean to other kids. >> as youth sports gets more competitive, it's the parents doing the bullying. in our changing minds series, we're talking about bullying on the field. >> you're not shooting enough or hustling enough. >> reporter: dwayne hears this kind of negativity not from coaches and players but parents. >> in sports in general i've seen kids as young as 10 and 9 years old that have this situation. >> reporter: brian is the athletic director for the mclean school of maryland. he says bullying in youth sports is a growing problem especially for parents likely because sports are becoming more competitive at younger ages. >> it's high stakes and parents

in soccer and lacrosse invest thousands of dollars and at the end of the day they're doing it to get their kid a scholarship and that's competition for the kids on the same team or different team. >> come on, you are better than them. >> it doesn't make me feel good. >> reporter: these 9 year-olds play soccer and both girls say they witnessed other players' parents behaving badly on the field. >> it makes me feel a little bad about myself because i try really hard to do my best. >> i think it's a horrible message. parents are supposed to be models for kids and supposed to raise them with values and good judgments and good morals. we want to cheer for our kids and be there for our kids. >> reporter: andrew is a school counselor and volleyball coach at the school. he says for kids, being bullied by parents whether their family or another can be devastating.
