too dangerous for rescuers. good afternoon. >> we're following that developing story right now. it came down in a ball of fire and smoke. and right now, rescue crews are forced to suspend their search for four people missing in that plane crash. the twin engine plane crashed take into a flight safety building here at the mid continent airport in wichita, kansas. four people confirmed dead, five injured. the people unaccounted for work in the building hit by the plane, but part of it collapsed and it became too dangerous to be inside. pilot told air traffic control he lost an engine before the plane crashed. >> mayor gray and president obama released at the same times today remembering mayor tom menino who died this morning. he served apunprecedented five terms as mayor in boston. he checked himself out of the hospital against his doctor's

chris brown has reportedly settled the two big legal issues in his life. he paid out close to $100,000 to the man he assaulted outside his d.c. hotel last october. brown had originally pleaded not guilty to the charge but he changed his plea in september and was sentenced to time served. brown has also reportedly paid out around $20,000 to end a legal battle over a parking lot brawl with a rapper in january of 2013. investigators are focusing on the engines as a possible cause to the unmanned rocket explosion tuesday. search teams are collecting debris from the rocket to help in their investigation. that could take up to five days. but so far, we know that two of the engines were made by the soviets during the cold war and refurbished. this is the first explosion since nasa handed over cargo missions to commercial operat s op i don't look at it as a set back. it's one of the hurdles that

come up every so oftennd you just have to overcome. >> the investigation into the cause could take six months. we could be a step closer to getting an answer finally to the question about what happened to amelia earhart. a group of investigators believe it has a piece of metal that may have come from her plane. could have been used to patch a whole in her lockheed electra which disappeared over the pacific ocean 77 years ago. >> so a scale of 1 to 10 how confident am i that this artifact is the miami patch from earhart's airplane? i'm at 9.8. >> investigators plan to go back to the spot where the metal was found to look for more evidence. but one aviation expert says the scrap could have come from any airplane. it can happen so fast, a deer runs out in front of you on the road.

now imagine going 65 miles an hour on a motorcycle. that's what happened to a man in colorado this week. it was near the new mexico border. the man on the motorcycle survived. he says he barely had time to swerve. >> my first thought was, oh, a deer. and then my next thought was i hope i stop tumbling soon because i tumbled for about a 30 to 60 feet just rolling on the concrete. >> nick believes his helmet saved his life. he walked away with only small cuts and bruises. she is on a legal collision course with the state of maine. a nurse who treated ebola patients in sierra leone but who has tested negative for the virus ventured out of her house twice today. jay gray joins us live with an update. and it's a first. a new vaccine for a deadly form a new vaccine for a deadly form of meningitis.

4:30. our other big story, the deadly plane crash in kansas. >> we just found out that police in wichita believe that everyone is accounted for after this crash. and we have new video for you that just came in. the scene is still too dangerous. so investigators and rescuers are having trouble doing their job. here's what we did know. the pilot of the small plane, he did radio for help shortly after takeoff. said he had lost an engine. he was turning around to make an emergency landing when he crashed. that plane slamming into the building at wichita's mid continent airport. and at this point, the pilot as well as three other people who were on the ground are dead and five others injured. that plane was heading to arkansas. back to you. now to the ebola quarantine controversy which is one of the most shared stories on our facebook page right now.

critics say it is perpetuating unhealthy and unattainable body images. some critics have called on the company to change the campaign. the government is now suing gerber for claiming its baby formula can prevent and even reduce allergies in children. the federal trade commission says since 2011, gerber products have made false health claims about its good start gentle baby formula. in the complaint, the ftc says gerber lacked the scientific proof. gerber says it believes it has met all legal requirements. tim cook says he's proud to be gay. he became the most prominent gay man today. cook writes that not only is he proud to be gay, he considers being gay among the greatest gifts that god has given him. cook has never spoken publicly about his sexual orientation. now he says if his story can

the area low pressure up around the great lakes today, and it will be making its way done across portions of the ohio valley. in towards our region. and then transfer off toward the atlantic ocean. that happens a lot. we see hose types of storms a lot during the winter. those are the ones that bring us snow. this time it will bring us shower activity, but we're not expecting a lot of rain. biggest impact is cold air and strong winds. windchills that could be well into the 30s and maybe even colder in some locations early sunday morning. scattered showers and even mountain snows. we have winter storm warnings in virginia. this should not have a big impact as far as rain, but we're talking one cold weekend. >> that's for sure. of course saturday is the day when we have the showers. here is a look at the coldest neighborhoods saturday, 46 the high winchester, shep companand.

out for tomorrow night. a new twist in a case that shocked our region. >> we all remember this, this little 8-year-old boy brutally killed on a quiet street 14 years ago. and after all this time, the family's nightmare is not over. kevin was playing in his grand parent's yard april of 2000. out of nowhere, a man comes up and kills him. this took several weeks of intense searching. police finally arrested this man, gregory murphy, and now he may walk free because of a technicality. pat collins covered this for us extensively when it happened 14 years ago and he's back on the story tonight. he just spoke to the victim's sister. it's a powerful interview and you'll see it in squajust a few minutes. >> now to politics and maryland's close race for governor. within five days to go before election, hillary clinton is in maryland right now rallying

support for anthony brown. she just arrived at a big campaign event. going on right now at the university of maryland and darcy spencer has the story for us. >> reporter: hillary clinton is up on stage right now. first i want to tell you, there was a little disruption here to the rally just a few minutes ago where there were protesters in the crowd who had to be escorted out. they were holding up signs indicating that they wanted more immigration reform. it delayed things for a couple of minutes. as you can see, hillary clinton is up on stage continuing with the rally. this race is tighter than p a lot of people thought it was going to be, so they are bringing out the big democratic star power and today that is hillary rodham clinton. she's appearing here at the university of maryland. she says lieutenant governor anthony brown is the right choice for governor. she says he'll go to bat if working families and continue a positive agenda.

developing now, federal safety investigators will be arriving in kansas to look in to that small plane crash this to a building at wichita airport. and a short time ago, we learned that everyone inside the building is accounted for. as mark barger reports, four people are dead, including the pilot. >> we know it is a flight safety building that has been hit. >> reporter: seen from a distance, plumes of thick black smoke bill lowed from a building at the wichita airport. >> the airport crews arrived first, reported heavy smoke and plane and what appears to have been an aircraft striking the building. >> reporter: a twin engine beechcraft king air slammed into a building used to train pilots. officials say the plane lost an engine on takeoff and was attempting to return for an emergency landing when it crashed. >> firefighters of course engaged in a horrific firefight for several minutes. we now have the fire under control. >> reporter: at least three people inside the bg were
