prepared. media doesn't usually get there hour. in fact, i'm a little late. i've got to head out there soon. good news to hear, no injuries, no major problems here to report. i did speak to the redskins public relations spokesperson, tony wiley over the phone. he made it official that this was true. in fact, an accident happened. there's going to be effect on the team and there are no major injuries which, of course, is the best news here. the details of how this went down, as i'm told, the police escort, ths a motorcade of what i've seen in the past from other games. i didn't s one this morning. usually they're pretty similar. there's a few police cars and there's usually about six to eight police officers on motorcycles. whatd was they were on the highway and they missed the

10:06 am
this morning about players not wanting rg3 to start and all that is inaccurate. a lot of players went out of their way to make sure the media was aware. they're so excited to have number ten back under center. there's going to be a transition because they got used to these backup guys. if what i can tell, the mind set here is that the redskins are ready to go with the team that's supposed to be are robert at quarterback. dianna russini checking in with us from just outside minneapolis. again, the redskins team bus, two of them involved in an accident this morning, on the way to the stadium along with a police escort that was going there. thankfully it looks like no major injuries. >> no injuries. at this point the team has made it to the stadium and kickoff will go on as planned. we want to turn our eyes to the weather outside. no of avoiding it if you're stepping out 150id.

10:17 am
breaking news right now. we'll take you live over ecf bank stadium. we were over the stadium moments ago. is in minneapolis, minnesota. the scene whereby a bus crash involving redskins players and coaches happened. the good news is we know the coaches, players, staff, everybody is in the stadium right now. everyone is going to be okay. as far as what happened, to give you the truncated version from what we're getting from nbc4's dianna russini, they missed an exit, stropd abruptly and forced kind of a chain reaction. you can see the damage done to the front of the bus. there was a big spider shattering image there on the windshield. but as we mentioned, you can take a look right there, two buses -- this is actually the accident scene. it's still there. >> this is adina minneapolis
10:18 am
right outside of minneapolis. the two buses right there over on an exit ramp. what we heard from diana was one of the police escorts missed the exit ramp t. one bus stopped and the other one came from behind and actually hit the other bus. so the good news aga looks like there have been no major injuries and all the team officials are telling us that the game will start on time today at 1:00. there was pretty significant damage to the bus here. we talked ab in the picture. you see pictures of players getting off the bus as they get to the stadium. anyone who has been ever involved in a crash, minor or whatever or not -- there's rg3 -- that shakes up your nerves no matter what. they'll have to kind of put this behind them. look at this. redskins boarding the early bugs to the stadium next stop. well, that was from the redskins. that was before it happened. so the players are now starting to get to -- the players starting to get on the bus
10:19 am
actually is what these pictures are from. this is a pregame ritual for players. they go through this routine on game days. they have to get ready, get themselves onto a men tall place. on the way to the stadium, you've seen commercials with the players and when they get on the bus they're wearing the heas be get into the zone. the good news, it looks like everybodt to the stadium there. >> in talking with diana, chef said she spoke with some of the players and coaches and they clearly said this is more than just a fender bender, that they were shaken. she said it wasn't long before they were already talking football. as adam touched on, get back to that zone, we know game time is still going to stay at 1:00 today. the redskins putting out on twitter they are okay they want to thank everyone for st

10:24 am
sunshine coming back later this afternoon. what to wear? these are the rockes in her pockets. hat, gloves may not be a bad idea. here in washington, still a chilly 48 degrees. cameras shaking and that northwest wind still averages 21 miles per hour. temperatures 30s and 40s all over the map first thing this morning. te up to about 50, maybe 52 degrees in town today. most of the suburbs will never cross 50-degree mark on your way out the door. windchills in the mid and upper 30s. that is also going to be the case for the remainder of the afternoon. if you're going out tonight, sun is dow 5:07 this afternoon. by 7:00 tonight, back into the mid 40s, upper 30s by 11:00 tonight. freeze warnings po the west of . freeze watch to the east of i-95. that's going to be a cold start tomorrow morning for sure.
10:25 am
here is your seven-day forecast now. a chilly, windy day today. cold tonight, 36 downtown, but mid to upper 20s in the western and northern suburbs. near 60 tomorrow with plenty of sunshine in the front half of the day. good weather for election day on tuesday. clouds back on wednesday, but milder and mid to upper 60s. rain chances for thursday, thursday night and into early friday. >> thanks, chuck. we have breaking news right now that we're following. news 4's dianna russini tweet that the redskins bus was in an accident earlier near minneapolis, minnesota. >> we've there have been no serious injuries to players or staff. that's the most important piece of information. a couple of bumps and bruises. certainly people were shaken up. dianna russini is on the phone with us right now. what can you tell us about any new information you've gotten over the last half hour. >> i can tell you the team is already at the stadium. they were taken by another bus.
10:26 am
everyone is okay. no major injuries. everyone is safe when you talk about the bumps and bruises, some of that was from the players getting flung because bus number one of the redskins was hit from bus number two when the police escort basically missed the exit. because of that, that caused this sort of small little pile-up. but the team from both the first bus and the second bus are already at the stadium, already working out, warming up, getting ready for the game. there are no changes to kickoff today in minnesota. the good news is no major injuries and hopefully the team will be able to get over the nerves and that feeling of fear that they had noing that sitting on that bus there are no seatbelts. >> tt was my next question. when you spoke with some of the players shortly after this happened you wrote on twitter that they were clearly shaken. year saying they're already in the zone? >> yes, they've all transitioned. everyone is just getting ready for this game now. no one wants to talk about the
10:27 am
accident anymore. the players tweeting the pictures of the ev retweeting them. the team has come together and the other buss from the hotel. the entire team is now over at the stadium. everyone is there safely. >> dianna, thanks so much for reporting. we know you've got a game today get to. that's going to do it for "news 4 today."
