. not according to plan. right now at 6:00, some frightening new accounts of a bus that crashed while carrying the washington redskins. that's not all the team has had to deal with today. its controversial name become the target of a huge protest. thousands of angry people calling for change, demanding the team make that change. >> we want people to know that we are humans. we're not mascots. some scary moments for the washington redskins. ton the team is talking about one of their buses crashing on its way to the stadium in minneapolis. and that was just the beginning of a day the team would probably like to forget. we have team coverage tonight beginning with news 4 with our

reporter who is in minneapolis with key details. >> i thought we were going to fall off the cliff and die. the words of the coach a few minutes after the accident. the redskins were headed to two buses at the stadium, when their police he is -- escort stopped and the two buses crashed. the second bus had silence red on it who did not play today because he had back spasms from the accident. no other major injuries, although players say they have bruises and even have headaches. the accident was scary, especially since there were no seatbelts. >> unique way to start the day, getting ready for a football game when you are 5' from driving off a cliff on to the highway. i had no excuse for that. it was an experience that could shake a lot of people, but no

excuse. >> many of the players tell us that despite the fears that head sitting on that bus today, none of it affected the outcome of today's game. in minnesota, news 4 sports. outside the stadium today, one of the largest protests ever against the team's name, between 3 and 4,000 people showed up to let the team know they think redskins is derogatory and racist. the owner has consistently said he won't change it. he got a look at a small gathering county, this grol -- rallied to keep the name redskins and calls it a term of endearment. >> thousands of protesters marched before the game with the vikings. they want the team to change the name. >> when i satisfy the washington fans wearing the head dresses and the war paint, to me, that's

breezy, 42 at 7:00 to 9:00 and back into the upper 30s by 11:00 with windchills back down close to the freezing mark. it's going to be a cold evening. freeze warning are posted tomorrow morning. more about that plu election day forecast coming up. developing tonight, d.c. police are now investigating what they are calling the beating death of a baby boy. he was only one-month-old. paramedic were called to a home on trenton place in southeast washington last wednesday because of unconscious baby. the infant fied at the hospital. the medical examiner found medical blunt force impacts to the baby's body. as of ton, no arrest has been made. people heading out to sunday brunch were not expecteding this, flames rip through a restaurant called one of the area's best. tough new questions for police in ferguson, missouri, we learn what's really behind a tactic they claim is all about

around 9:00 a.m. and firefighters were able to put it out fairly quickly and limit most of the damage to the third floor. no one was hurt and investigators are still looking into how it started. also new at 6:00, we new know the name of a man murdered outside a maryland apartment complex. this happened in landover, less than a mile from fedex field. they found john brown and he had been shot. emts rush him to the hospital and brown died there. we know he lived in northwest d.c. detectives are trying to figure out who shot him and why. there are new questions tonight over whether the government violated the media's rights during those violent protests in ferguson, missouri. back in august, the police department requested a no fly zone over ferguson claiming it was for safety and the government grant it, but the associated press obtai recording from the federal aviation administr which showed the only reason police wanted the no fly zone was to keep news helicopters away.

breaking news now, a child has been flown from a hospital after falling from a fourth floor window. the accident happened this evening on sweet gum circle in germantown and now we know the child is listed as trauma patient. the investigators are trying to figure out what led up to that accident. right now, crime scene tape surrounds this vacant building as police investigate what may be homicide. detectives were called to a scene after firefighters found a woman's body inside. the building was on langston place. it's not clear how the woman died. police are looking for a man who robbed a 7-eleven this morning. police say he pointed the gun at the clerk, demanded cash and ran off. detectives from anyone who was in that area around the time of the robbery. a heads up if you plan on use the bay bridge this week. here is a live look now at the bridge where traffic is flowing

we mentioned it earlier, e protests sort of overshadow what we thought would be the big story. >>s still a huge story, robert griffin iii. is he ready? healthy? why not start mccoy again? today the redskins may have fell short but griffin brufed provs . during the game he got it done with this play on the field. first quarter action, skins up on a third and seven here. griffin looking like the old rg iii somehow avoids the stack here and he voids . skins up 3-0. deep in minnesota territory. it's alfred moore for the touch down hear. the skins in total control.

they are up 10-0. third quarter the vikings came back. griffin, a quick pass here to s touch down.n. 13-yard hook up. fourth quarter, it's moore and griffin this time again to desean jackson. d jacks had 120 yards receiving in this game. skins are back in business. few plays later it's moore again, this time two yards out. he had 92 yards rushing pair of touchdowns. they lead it 26-21. later in the quarter, the rookie, teddy bridgewater, he had himself a game in the second half. he finds a tight end. that's a 21-yard gain and minnesota is moving. later in the drive, he hands off to his running back, matt aziada, his third touchdown of for him and that was your game winner.
