video. we'll have the clues that could help find a woman who is still missing. >> please bring her back home. that's all we want. news 4 at 11 starts now. a young mother of thr headed out to a party on halloween,e home. her death now crowded in mystery. >> that woman's name is t toya smith. she's only 25 years old. her body was found on saturday after a small fire at an abandoned house in d.c. tonight her family told our jackie bensen they suspect foul play. jackie? >> reporter: well, jim, tonight, homicide detectives went to smith's home. she was found dead yesterday under strange circumstances. how did this young mother of three end up dead in an abandoned house in the 2800 block of langston place e has been cordoned off

since early sunday morning when someone called 911 to report a fire. inside they found her dead and called police. police say the cause of death has not yet been determined by the medical examiner, but homicide detectives came to her mother's house. family members believe the 25-year-old, known for her enthusiastic personality, met with foul play. >> the detectives who just left here, they're pretty good. and i expressed to them, you guys need to find this person immediately. he said they're going to do everything in their power. >> reporter: os who asked not tn on tv said he understood she had been headed to a party in the neighborhood on saturday night. >> last time i talked to her, she was at a party, invited me to the party. but i told her, i wasn't really interested in coming to a party in this neighborhood.

>> smith's family believes that there are people in the neighborhood who know something about what happened. they are urging them to contact police. if nothing else, for the sake of smith's three little boys that she leaves behind. live at police headquart bensen. and a gunman is at large after a shooting. >> we know a student was shot and a active search is under way after the t took off. the shooting happened about 4:00, about a half a mile away from delaware state university in dover. the campus was put on lockdown for about three hours this evening as police combed that area looking for the gunman and any clues in this case. not clear yet what led up to this attack, but we know the victim was conscious and alert when taken to the hospital. university officials are saying that even though the gunman is still out there, there is no

threat to any other students on the campus at this time. and this is not the first shooting at delaware state. in 2007, student was shot and killed, and a freshman was charged in that case. backyou. right now e a investigating a shooting about a block away from the shaw metro. we know the man who was shot is conscious and breathing, and officers are searching the area for a suspect. they've blocked off parts of ei investigate. a man from annapolis is facing federal charges after allegedly threatening to kill president obam and his family. he did that in an e-mail. investigators say christopher o'brian sent the e-mail to the white house on octob 16th. it included graphic threats against the president and first lady. o'br ad to sending the e-mail, but he says he never intended to carry out those

threats. decision 2014 is call coming down to tomorrow. that means a push to get out the vote tonight. repus rallied tonight in loudon, making a last-minute appeal to voters. ed gillespie and barbara comstock spoke to the crowd in sterling. and alexandria democrats had their own rally. mark warner is running to keep the seat he's held since 2009. john foust is trying for the tenth district congressional seat. the maryland governor's race could turn out to be one of the closest of the night. anthony brown had campaign help today from first lady michelle obama. republic larry hogan has closed much of a double-digit lead that brown held at the start of the campaign. they're only elected one republican governor in the past 40 years. this is an unusual election in the district with the race for

mayor up for grabs in november. the winner of the democratic primary usually runs away with the election. but this year, muriel bowser is working to hold off a late chal david cat an. for the first time, voters in virginia must show an approved i.d. before they can cast a ballot. you can u your driver's license, passport, other government, identification, college students can use university i.d.s. if you show up empty handed, you'lld to fill out a provisional ballot and show a .alid i.d. by friday in order you can get an i.d. at any election le us know if you see any problems at the polls. call or e-mail. we'll have live team coverage of all the big races tomorrow.

i feel fine. and at so moments it hits me, drills me, rather. the tragedy has rocked the school in northwest d.c. dom was killed in a car crash halloween night when a jeep veered off the road and crashed into the car he was in. four others, who were also in the car were taken to the hospital. tonight, one of them was released. the teen expressed more of his feelings on facebook. quote, it's not something i will ever get over in my entire life. knowing that a good friend away, two seats away from me. dom was a great guy. >> earlier today some classmates remembered dom. >> everyone loved him. especially everyone in my class, senior year. i'm sure he haa b future. >> reporter: the young man also showed appreciation for the gonzaga community. quote, the love of your family is beautiful. but the love that your gonzaga brothers can give you is something else, something that your family is unable to offer. if i wanted to cry today, they

the principal said police arrested a contractor working on the building after he was accused of inappropriately touching a student. nobody else was involved. the principal said the incident was not made public in order to protect ths privacy. in prince george's county, hundreds of students will not be allowed back in school starting wednesday if they do not have their vaccines up to date. school officials say as of last friday, 99% of students had their shots. but 155 kindergarten and 259 seventh grade students will be forced to stay home, or at least out of school, if they do not have their shots by novemb5th. an acte manhu is under way for a detainee who escaped from a psychiatric ward. he's charged with assaulting a police officer. he managed to escape this morning, and it's not clear how he got away, but police say he could be dangerous, and if you recognize him, you should call

after filling out their hogan iquestionaire, aight. hogan was awarded an a- from the nra. but now he refuses to release his responses. the nra opposes comprehensive background checks. they want to weaken maryland's gun safety laws. even support letting suspects on the fbi terror watch list buy guns. on gun safety and terror, the nra is wrong. hogan gets an a- from the nra. on protecting maryland, we just can't trust him.
