own neighborhood. the police are going door to door trying to talk to people. they're starting in a different part of the neighborhood and working their way right here to the basketball courts where she was grabbed yesterday afternoon. this attempted abduction happened right here. as you said this time of day yesterday afternoon. she was walking by these courts on her way home when this man tried to take her. she was able to get away as he was trying to force her into a nearby wooded area. the residents we spoke to say that more lighting is needed here in the neighborhood. >> really it's shocking but not so much shocking in this area. the neighborhood is quiet but around here at nighttime there's no lighting. there's no lighting. really this part of the neighborhood is kind of dangerous at night. >> to hear stuff like that, you know what is the world coming to? my opinion is just don't walk alone especially at nighttime. >> fortunately that teenager was

not hurt. the police are here in the neighborhood doing canvassing and getting enough information so they could identify a suspect. >> a detainee is back in custody tonight after police captured him nearly 40 miles away. kenneth clayton escaped at the psychiatric institute of washington on monday. he was originally charged with assaulting a police officer and possession of unregistered ammunition. >> the driver suspected in a hit and run in maryland may have been trying to avoid an attack. police released this image of the vehicle they say shortly after a teen got hit last night, a group of people showed up at a nearby police station. they told investigators a group of guys approached them after they left a burger king and began throwing rocks at them. the driver told police he didn't know he hit anyone. it's unclear if the teen who got

hit is involved. he's in critical condition. >> two high school football players are facing criminal charges after an investigation into a locker room assault. northern virginia bureau chief first reported on the case a month ago and joins us live from brier woods high school. >> well, the highly ranked brier woods football team has an away game tonight. it was three weeks ago on the eve of a big rivalry when the allegations first came to light. yesterday the sheriff's department wrapped up the investigation. serving two petitions on two teenagers charging them with assault and battery. it was the brier woods coaching staff that alerted a school resource officer. investigating soon after looking at two separate irncidents in

themselves on a bus that later rolled down a hill and hit another child. this accident happened back in april. mr. harris left the bus unattended with children onboard so he could go inside to the bathroom. he forgot to put the brakes on and once he left the bus rolled down a hill toward the children waiting at the bus stop and hit a 6-year-old child. >> we think this sentence is appropriate in this case. it's a very unfortunate incident. mr. harris had no record and been a bus driver for quite some time. >> harris will begin home detention in december and followed by one year of supervised probation. only on 4 tonight. the washington wizards could be closer to a deal that could build a new state of the art training facility for them but it will come at a cost to fans. the facility would be built in the shaw neighborhood in northwest washington and be funded by raising taxes on game tickets.

the plan being presented by d.c. officials would have the district government borrow the money for construction paid by most likely by an increased tax on tickets and concessions at wizards games. some fans weren't happy to hear they would be paying for the facility. >> i don't think it's a good idea. not at all. >> fiscal watch dogs are raising questions about the proposal. >> there's a limit on how much the city can borrow every year and we're getting close to that limit right now. if we borrow money to pay for a training facility for the wizards that could make it harder to build a new library or school. as much as we love them, i'm not clear that's a good thing for the city. >> this is preliminary. they want this to be more than a trning facility and want this to make money. it could become the home of the washington mystics, the wnba team. coming up, more on the kevin

a look at the live desk with new information on the walmart shooting. right now a 21-year-old is in the hospital accusing of smashing glass displays with two hammers and being shot in the parking lot by an off duty officer. we know his name. the suspect. mohammad samco. we just looked up his last known address. it takes us to ft. bragg north carolina but not clear what if any connection he may have to the u.s. army. charged with destroying more than $1,000 worth of property. right now he's in stable condition as this investigation ves forward. we have learned the off duty officer works for the u.s. secret service uniform division which protects the vice president's health and foreign diplomats.

night. >> just hours after news broke that rabbi barry frendel was accused of taping women, wrote to a school administrator that she had been there. i am inquiring to see if i was at risk. another wrote i went on a field trip that included this ritual bathing as a cultural experience. i believe he has been taking students on these trips for quite some time. revealing how they responded to the employee's arrest. they showed a min starts conducting a midnight search inside the school's college of liberal arts building, searching for cameras. none were find. one wrote have the night shift personnel check all the ladies rooms so we can confirm we checked all publically assessable ones and found nothing. as a parent that's something i would want done.

a tv camera man in australia went above and beyond to get the scoop of the year. >> he was car jacked at gunpoint while he was on assignment and it was caught on camera. he was a camera man. we have the video. >> get on the ground! >> reporter: yelling get on the ground armed police con front a man at a gas station in australia. the suspect is charged with attempted murder and armed robbery. moments before this dramatic takedown he confessed to a tv camera man who was on his way to cover brooks alleged crimes. >> done extremely bad thing. >> the camera man with the scoop of the year calls police. >> there's been a shooting. i have the shooter with me.

were stunned by the murder of a woman in maryland. her name was amber and hers was an incredibly violent death. as it turned out the guy who killed her was no stranger. his name is andrew and had ig ignored a court order to stay away from her and today will spend his life in prison. >> accused of brutally killing will was sentenced his life to prison. >> the only conclusion that andrew was the murderer of our daughter we knew that because we lived it. >> they lived it because she had already lost three fingers from a previous assault by her ex-boyfriend andrew and she had a protective order to keep him away from her. >> god
