you can look behind me at this apartment complex. this is where police arrived to last night after they got a call in regards to a shooting. when they arrived they found a man with gunshots. he was determined deceased at the scene. we got the name of the victim, alvarado aguillar. he's 37 years old from hyattsville. we received this video last night. you can see anne arundel county police investigating the scene searching for clues. still no word on the there is a suspect and who that suspect may be. we will continue to give you information as it happens. again, this is a fluid situation here in laurel as detectives are trying to investigate this murder last night. back to you guys. >> zachary keep reporting live in laurel, thanks. a pedestrian is battling life-threatening injuries this morning after being hit by a car in montgomery county. police say the 45-year-old man was crossing the street yesterday evening when the driver of a nissan versa ran him over. this happened at the

intersection of rockville pike at halpine road. the man was thrown onto the windshield of the car and into the street. the driver did stay on the scene. the pedestrian was rushed to the hospital in grave condition. the driver of the nissan was not hurt. right now police need your help. they are searching for this missing woman in prince william county. vanecka bennett was last seen at her home on pouls landing circle in woodbridge. police think the 37-year-old left her house on her own but may need help. they say she could be driving a black accord with virginia tags wd 330. if you see her or the car, call prince william police. we're working to learn the name of a man that happened on i-95 that happened near russell road and quaunt toe. a dump truck broke down in the middle of 95. within a couple minutes, a tractor-trailer slammed into it. both vehicles flipped over which

shut down the road for six hours. this morning homeowners in carroll county are cleaning up after an explosion sent debris everywhere. that's all that's left of a shed on sullivan road in westminster. according to the state fire marshal, yesterday morning a 56-year-old man was opening the shed door when it just exploded. the man was seriously burned and airlifted to johns hopkins bayview medical center. flying debris damaged 11 nearby homes. >> i saw this flash of blue, i was pushed to the side. things fell off my wall. >> we had the nails coming through the walls and out of our ceilings. >> the fire marshal is working to determine the cause of the explosion. right now air force one is in alaska refueling before taking off for china. president obama is headed to beijing to attend an international conference on free trade and economic cooperation. the asia pacific economic

cooperation summit brings leaders from 21 nations together. while in beijing, the president will discuss a rival trade deal with china and other countries. he'll also attend a state banquet with the chinese president. midweek he'll head to myanmar to speak at a town hall. he'll finish off the week with a g-20 leaders retreat. a live picture of the bay bridge. a 10k running from one end of the bridge to the other. roughly 20,000 people are doing this right now. it may cause you some trouble on the road. all of the bridge's eastbound span is closed. you don't have to drive to delaware to get around it. one lane is open in both directions on the westbound span. you should expect some delays. everything should open up again by 2:00 this afternoon. expect some major delays sunday if you're headed to the eastern shore or have family

new reaction to a news 4 i-team investigation uncovering problems inside the department of liquor control in montgomery county. >> council members say the county should get out of the booze business after what he saw in our report. >> news 4's tisha thompson shows why he's now calling for both a government and criminal investigation. >> shocked, outraged.

>> reporter: montgomery county council member hans reamer says he thinks what he saw county workers doing in our undercover investigation was criminal. the department of liquor control controls all alcohol sales in the county pulling in about $34 million a year. multiple sources told the i-team, some employees have been skimming the beer they're supposed to be delivering and selling it illegally under the table for cash. our investigation uncovered troubling trends, pointing to certain delivery truck drivers and stores. >> we need a criminal investigation of these employees. we need the attorney general to get involved and figure out what's happening in the first place. >> reamer was especially alarmed but what he caught, delivery crews pouring what appears to be alcohol in styrofoam cups and driving government vehicles. >> i want to know why you've been drinking -- >> he says you've been drinking

less sleep every age. >> how did you sleep? >> reporter: school days are never easy. >> sometimes i just want to put my head on my desk and fall asleep at school. >> reporter: experts say finley is part of a growing trend of children going to school fatigued and losing valuable sleep as they age. a new study from brown university tracked 94 children for two years. researchers found the typical 9-year-old falls asleep at 9:28 p.m., but by age 11, their bedtime naturally shifts to 10. 15-year-olds went to bed just after 10:30. two years later, they, too, stayed up an extra 30 minutes. the problem is morning the bell time at school stay it is same. >> we end up in a position of chronic insufficient sleep. >> reporter: studies show the lost sleep affects academic performance and could contribute to obesity. it's estimated 40% of high schools in the u.s. start school

daughter emily died in the fire last week. investigators say there were no working smoem alarms. the gofundme web page has raised more than $47,000. we put a link on nbcwashington.com. right now we're trying to figure out more information about a man shot just a few blocks away from the waterfront metro station in southwest d.c. the shooting happened last night near delaware avenue. crews rushed the victim to the hospital. you can see the ambulance leaving. no word on how the man is doing. three men will spend the next 20 years in jail for a shooting that hurt more than as doane people. all these people runninging and ducking for cover. andrew allen, keith bob and arnelle smith pleaded guilty to shooting 13, six women, seven men. we're told the shooting was gang related. the nurse who fought a quarantine order in maine says

she may leave the state. kaci hickox and her boyfriend are waiting until tomorrow. in nearly 21 days since coming back from africa, she showed no signs of the disease. last year she won a standoff with the state government over whether she should be quarantined anyway. today maryland plans to revamp the health exchange website. it crashed on opening day last year and the state had to spend millions to improve the technology. today you can browse the website. you can't enroll until november 19. the idea is to gradually roll it out over ten days to avoid high traffic jamming up the site. soon, you'll see changes if you take the dulles toll road to work. they're converting it a lane from exact change to ez pass only. even when they're done, you can expect this construction for quite some time. crews are doing the same thing

today marks the 25th anniversary of the day the berlin wall came down. all over the world people are remembering that day. in germany chancellor angela merkel attended a ceremony where the wall used to be and laid a flower at one of the few remaining sections. merkel grew up in east germany and was freed when the wall was taken down. people are commemorating it as well. teachers at the german school in potomac says it's important to teach students what happened. the museum has a remnant of the wall on display. visitors there told us it's a very painful memory. >> i'm trying to absorb it all. it's a wonderful history of the

non-profit program called drive change, given a second chance to learn gourmet cooking, now he helps operate snow day, a state-of-the-art food truck, a recipe to help young ex-offenders find jobs, cooked up by jordan lexon. >> 70% of the young people i worked with, 16, 17, 18-year-old young men were recycling back into the system. >> reporter: it's a nationwide problem. two out of every three released prisoners are rearrested within three years. waterman knows the challenge. >> i know nothing in life is easy. >> reporter: he spent 13 years behind bars. >> i know what it's like to be young and having felony convictions on my record and ying to find a job and having countless doors closed. >> reporter: waterman didn't give up. in jail and after he took courses and earned a business degree. he owns a catering company and now mentoring the team of 12.
