that indoor mall will feel really nice. >> absolutely, angie. and we're looking at breezy conditions throughout the day. that bone chilling cold can at times. satellite and radar not worried about any rain or snow as you make your way out early this morning. we will have mostly sunny skies throughout the day today obviously once the sun comes up. dealing with the windchill temperatures throughout the day. so 35 degrees is the temperature. when you factor in the winds, not too bad. only 5 miles per hour. it makes it feel like it is 30 degrees outside. winds will increase as the sun comes up 10 to 20 miles per hour. it is not blowing the trash can over. going for a job, working off the thanksgiving meal from yesterday, it's going to be a cold one. here's temperatures wm throughout the morning hours. they stay in the 30s. we dipped to 32 at 7:00 a.m. we will warm up. by 11:00 a.m., temperature of 38

at the malls. megan mcgrath is live in fairfax county. good morning, megan. >> good morning, angie. and i am not here alone. there are people at this early hour shopping. black friday, all the door buster deals. the emphasis has shifted a little bit. a lot of malls, including the springfield town center, opened thanksgiving. they opened at 6:00 here at this location. and plenty of folks came on out. they are looking for deals. people say they want discounts. many of the stores are offering them. they are slashing prices in the hopes of luring people into their doors. and a lot of surveys say people are going to spend more this holiday season than they did last year. now, this is the first black friday here at the springfield town center since their major overhaul. so people are not just shopping but they are checking out the new mall here. we're hearing positive things from shoppers early this morning. now, what's the deal with shopping in the middle of the

night? we've been asking people that question. they say it's a great time to shop. they're not dealing with any crowds. >> what do you think of shopping in the middle of the night? >> it's amazing. i love it. >> what's the advantage of being here in the middle of the night. >> less peop. you don't see a lot of people right now. so you can get to shop on your own. it's better. >> and i've got to tell you, i arrived right around 3:00 this morning and parked right up front. right outside the door. so there's tons of parking. you don't have to fight for that spot. we're not seeing any lines. i bought a cup of coffee. i didn't wait in line. a few moments, there was only one person ahead of me. if you don't want crowds, you want to get out and get your shopping done and get home, it is a great time to do it. it is very low key here. >> megan, you won't have to walk far with all those bags you're carrying. >> i'm notorious for loading

not a good morning for a family in gaithersburg. a fire forced this family of five out from suffolk. it appears the fire may have started in the basement. good news is this family appeared to have gotten out okay that is the latest from the live desk. back to you >> molette, thank you. today on the busiest shopping day of the year workers at walmart plan to walk off the job is. employees of walmart around our area will strike to ask for better pay and full time work. more than 1,600 protests are planned for today around the country. >> new this morning, d.c. police are investigating two overnight stabbings. the first happened just before midnight on hayes street in northeast washington. a man was stabbed in the chest. he's expected to be okay. now, in a separate incident a woman was stabbed on savannah in southeast.

audrey says she shops target three times a week. she found $1,000 fraudulent charges. i have one pair of men's pants and five gift cards. >> there were 691 breach investigations. we got that number from the united states secret service in this year's trustwave global security alert. >> it's fraud. so what the criminals are trying to get are your or my financial information. >> the retail industry has been compromised more than any other. cyber criminals looking for flaws in the systems. >> if the company put in a security feature, they will try to find way ato overcome the feature. >> security breaches can occur when businesses don't install

equipment. home depot blamed its breach on criminals. >> the home depot tonight says in addition to the payment card data stolen, separate files containing 53 million e-mail addresses were also taken during that breach. again, they are trying to make it look like -- in special agent malko showed us some of the devices used. >> in one case the secret service sees this box of fraudulent cars. then there is a skimmer. this is attached to an atm or gas machine to steal debit and credit card numbers. the secret service said a separate and even bigger case, a waiter stole 600 numbers within

a month. >> once you swipe it, it can transmit to the criminal who may be sitting two blocks away from his car and therefore you never see them. >> via blue tooth. >> or it can be downloaded to a computer and sent around the world. then it is sold in underground criminal chat rooms. each stolen card can sell anywhere from $3 to $40 depending on the credit card. so 600 stolen numbers can sell is for $24,000. so what can you do to protect yourself? for starters, use only one credit card over the holidays. >> but at least then you can quickly monitor your statement. and all your transactions that you know you have done are in one place. >> next, contact your credit card company and set up alerts. >> so if it's a transaction that's done online, i want an alert sent to my phone. >> and change your passwords now. then again immediately after the holiday season. >> there's no 100% way for any
