ahead of that cold front, we have rain falling. very light rain out in pennsylvania. that's into western west virginia. that's going to eventually sweep east and move into the metro area. that's not until after sunset today. then the changes move in. a look at that in your hour-by-hour forecast at 5:11. how is the morning commute? . two thumbs up on this monday morning. a lot of construction out of the way that we normally see on a typical monday because of folks perhaps coming back into town or leaving. starting with the beltway, overall looking quite good. montgomery village, no problems. 66 at 29 in gainesville, also rolling along quite nicely. a little bit more value on the beltway at kennel worth. into and out of town, looking quite good. we normally see a slowdown through dale city as the day progresses. not as much volume as we always

see on a normal monday morning. i'm back in 10 minutes. see you at 5:11 with a live look at 95 in maryland. 5:02. st. louis police officers association is demanding an apology from the st. louis rams. at the edward jones dome, five rams players walked out and stood in the hands up don't shoot pose. a team spokesman said they're not sure whether that demonstration was . they are demanding a very public here in d.c., demonstrators say shutting down i-395 is just one of self protests we will be seeing. this caused major delays. police arrested eight people who would not move after officers showed up. they told derrick ward they stand behind their action.

this is the next process after city council does its work. they have called a special board of elections meeting for later today to actually certify the vacancy of the ward 8 seat. we will see a timeline to hold that special election that will between 70 and 174 days. so we're looking somewhere between early february and mid-may to replace the see vacated by the late marion barr his death is the first to prompt a special election due to a deceased city council member in 17 years. and it won't be the only special election for the city of course. ward 4 seat is open now that muriel bowser will become mayor. they will push to have both of those special elections held o. we are live here at 1 judiciary

welcome back. the next big step in taking humans into deep space is just days away. nasa preparing for an unmanned test flight of its orion spacecraft on thursday. it will draft 3,# 00 miles into space, orbit the earth twice, and then drop back into the pacific ocean near mexico. it will eventually carry astronauts to the moon and could be used for the first manned mission to mars. >> very cool. in d.c. you can buy a christmas tree and then give back to local firefighters at 6 engine restaurant has converted its entire patio into a christmas tree lot.

elsewhere, it is right around 50 degrees. there's the capitol under a mostly clear sky. lots of sunshine. temperatures by 8:00 will be hovering around around 50 degrees. by noon, 60 degrees. then hitting the mid-60s by 3:00 this afternoon. back the low 60s by 5:00. by then, a lot of clouds around. and likely some rain moves in after sunset, into the evening hours. by this time tomorrow morning, that wintry mix around. a look at the timing and all that next weather and traffic on the 1s at 5:21. now melissa is checking in on the monday morning commute. what's going on? >> not much right now. beltway at colesville road looking quite good. a little bit of volume building here at 95 and 198, folks going into and out of laurel. beltway at branch avenue is a wider look at the beltway, you can see overall we're looking really good. lots of green. lots of movement.

a police officer is off the job and in trouble with the law this morning in prince george's county. mark samuels-thompson is accused of leaving a crash scene. he was off duty and not driving a police cruiser at the time. his police powers were already suspended for unrelated charges. >> clashes in hong kong. why hundreds of people are protesting there. they are trying to clear out the protesters and pushed them back to a tent city they created. protests two months after they decided to choose candidates in 2017. the president of uva is speaking at the national press club and could face questions on sexual assault on the campus.

fraternities after "rolling stone" described a rape at one of them. she is to speak about trends in higher education. >> in this case, a man allegedly made threats against a woman on facebook but his attorney said he never intended the messages to be real threats. today is also ruth bader ginsburg's first day back. a new four-year term for prince george's county leaders. baker and all nine members of county council will be sworn in at an inaugural ceremony in upper marlboro.

icing and some sleet and wet snow. most of it melting on roads. elevated surfaces. may have light icing north and west of the i-95 corridor through the morning hours on tuesday. the rest of the area rain. changing over to chilly rain the rest of the day tomorrow. what a change. arch highs reaching the mid-60s. going cloud where tonight with a wintry mix. a cold rain in the afternoon. holding steady in the 30s through the day on tuesday. then bouncing back to near 60 on wednesday. thursday, a little chillier with with sunshine, near 50 degrees. then cold rain on friday, saturday, sunday. not like any wintry mix or anything like that. morning lows, 30s to 40s. friday, saturday, sunday, a chance of rain. next weather and traffic on the 1s at 5:31. a look at the hour by hour changes the next 24 hours. melissa is looking at the morning commute.

>> and it is looking quite good. construction is not happening this morning because of the holiday weekend. beltway at connecticut avenue, that's looking quite good. st. barnabas also moving along. and the woodrow wilson bridge. no matter which way you are heading you are in the clear. taking a look in virginia, 95, we are seeing a little bit of a slowdown. this is just a volume situation. perhaps people coming from the south back into town. right now through stafford you can see a little bit of volume there. 45 miles per hour. it completely opens back up through dale city. no problems after that. in virginia, again, heading west just a little bit. and the north. 66 into and out of town, east and west, fine at 55 miles per hour. i can back in 10 minutes. a live look at prince george's county. 5:24. in news for your health this morning, new evidence that football players could be suffering from brain damage without experiencing a

concussion. researchers measured the frequency and severity of head impact using a helmet mounted device similar to this one here. after just one season, some players changed in the white matter of the brain. that is consistent with a mild brain injury. but none actually suffered a concussion. it's not clear if this hosni long-term consequences. more than half of parents say their babies sleep with pillows, blankets and other loose bedding despite recommendations not to use them. that's according to the cdc. removing loose bedding is one way to reduce their risk of suffocation and sudden infant death syndrome. it is recommended they be put on their backs on a firm sleep surface. a study out of london said

talking about these nice, mild temperatures. >> good morning. are you ready for a roller coaster ride? it is off to a mild start december 1st. it is hovering near the average highs this time of year. it's in the mid to upper 50s around the bay and around the metro area. generally in the low 50s. some of the suburbs into the 40s. bowie, 48. farther to our west, down to 48 in manassas, prince william, leesburg and loudoun near 50. much of fairfax county from mclane and great falls down to burk, hovering in the low 50s. warren ton and fauquier is 53 degrees. there is the capitol under a mostly clear sky. we have high clouds drifting in from the west with us through 8:00 a.m. upper 40s to near 50 by then. by noon time, it will be around 60 degrees and partly sunny. by 5:00 p.m., back to the low 6

it was a busy holiday weekend for firefighters in prince george keeps at. a local mother is asking her son's murderer to turn himself in to police. it's been a month since someone shot johnson outside his apartment. investigators say surveillance video shows the suspect walking into johnson's building. seconds later he ran out and drove away in a car. >> i know you've got a mother. i know you've got family. and i'm pleading with you now to come forward. >> prince george's county memorial attended a memorial. they don't believe johnson's killer knew him. police arrested a couple and three others in atlanta. they found a 13-year-old boy hidden behind a fake wall

lawmakers return to the hilly a lame duck session. they will fight the crisis on isis and ebola. . 15 before the hour. you won't be paying more to ride metro but it could get you cramped and cost you time.

more on potential service cuts. richard? >> the bottom line is that metro says people could be waiting longer for the traeubs trains to come. they are asking the counties to payan extra 10% in subsidies. they don't want to do that. they might have to make changes riders don't want to see because they will page up $10 million to $15 million they would be getting if the jurisdictions agree. longer wait times on the platforms. on weekends, trains would come every 15 to 20 minutes. right now it's 12 to 15 minutes. weekdays a at peak times it could go from six minutes up to

guys, start clicking. eun, back to you. >> thanks, landon. today the white house is honoring those who lost their fight with hiv/aids. you can see the red ribbon around the portico of the white house. this marks the 26th annual world aids day. you can open the day by getting tested. a number of clinics will be offering free hiv testing today. if you would like to take part in world aids day, a candlelight vigil at the elizabeth taylor medical center parking lot at 14th and r streets in northwest d.c. that starts at 6:00 p.m. prince harry will reveal one of his secrets as part of a campaign to help reduce the stigma associated with hiv. it's part of the feel no shame campaign. the idea is to keep the virus from spreading by encouraging sufferers to speak up and seek
