co. that mix extends into much of loudoun county and into northern montgomery county. this area in gray and white is a zone of of wet snow northern loudoun and montgomery, wester county and south and east of there is all rain. temperatures getting a little bit of the wintry mix all above freezing so melting on roads there. what to wear today, a ra an umb. the hour by hour breakdown over breaking news th could make you late for work. southbound g.w. parkway closed between route 123 and spout run parkway. megan mcgrath with the emergency repairs go on. >> reporter: this is going to be the closures here, the ramp leading from 123 down to the southbound lanes of the g.w. parkway. no traffic down there. the problem is a large sinkhole. it's 25x30.

we're talking feet not inches here. it is a very large hole in the roadway. all southbound lanes have been closed between 123 and spout run. i've been told that they haven't even started the repair work, so this is something that will be with us for hours. northbound lanes are still open. those southbound lanes are closed. we've seen a lot of confused people specifically out-of-towners trying to get to th don't kn how to get around. so we're going to also s see the traffic tie-ups. time since ple retu the holiday weekend. o not a great tim top of it. it's going to be an ugly rush on the work around to melissa mollet. all the ingredients for something nasty. the best thing to do, megan and i have been talking, g to push you off g.w. parkway southbound to 123. get on old dominion. work back ovg.w. parkway and spout run. that is the best thing to do if

seven people including three medics were taken to the hospital. the howard county fire chief tweet add thank you to everyone now.rayed fg students are being warned this morning of a sexual assault just off the university of maryland campus. police say a woman was at an apartment on knox road early sunday when she was followed into a room by a man. e his hand over her mouth and told her to stay quiet. the student says she bit him and he began slapping and groping her. she was able to get away. an e-mail alert was sent out. other students we talked to says the university is trying to be proactive in preventing sex y t, not really a survey but an online training thing we had to go through that was pretty k the tg to step it up. >> at least three female students have reported being groped since september. police do not believe the incide connected. the university of virginia is s to stop sex

assaults on campus. they announced a $57,000 donation to fund training for bystander intervention. the university is also planning to hire more trauma counselors. they will fund a new police station to increase patrols on campus in response to a "rolling stone" article that suggested a culture of rape at uva. we know how president obama plans to react in response to the fallout from ferguson. he announced a new task fo 20th century policing. commissioner and former d. police chief charles ramsay will be in charge. they want the government to spend more than $250,000 on new training and body cameras for officers. he is not trying to end federal programs that provide military style equipment to police. how members of congress are to. five minutes after the hour. we'll learn about the future of

your weather traffic on the 1s. 5:16 your time now. he's accused of killing four people life. investigators are trying to figure out why. he was accused of shooting four people at three different locations in morgantown monday. he was found dead in his truck four a day long man hun vi and one had filed dostic abuse charges against y work. you could get a ticket today from one of eight new traffic cameras in the district. some are watching to see whether you come to a complete stop at a stop sign. richard jordan is at one of those cameras in northwest with more. hi, eun. good morning. this is one of those new stop sign cameras at 44th in northwest. so atther one is at park place used to just yet, getting your picture taken if you don't come to a complete stop and having a ticket issues. there's been a warning for the

.ast 30 days but they are now you have new speed cameras. everyone knows those by now. aaa says in a sur me than half the people they surveyed reported that e over ten miles per hour over the speed limit in a residential zone just in the past month. so people are used to those speed camera tickets by now. about 582,000 traffic camera tickets, automated tickets hand the out last year. there could be changes to this up on capitol hill. two congressmen proposing a bill that would keep the local jurisdictions that have these traffic cameras from getting their full federal funding. eleanor holmes norton says that should not be the case. this is a local issue. this is local law enforcement dealing with traffic. we'll have to wait and see if that bill gains any traction.

croft, the deputy director of the department of s fou dead in her apartment in alexandria. detectives say 29-year-old dewitt saume killed her. he testified he was waiting for her in her apartment building. his lawyer says that he was hearing voices at the time cross was killed. the fight against ebola is getting a new push today. president obama will be at the national institutes of hea viru. doctors published results from a new trial of new ebola vaccines and those results are promising. the president will congratulate the teams working on that vaccine and will push congress to act quickly on his emergency fighting ebola. the president's trip to n.i.h. comes as the battle against ebola is getting better but is still far from over. the number of cases is slowing in liberia. the spread of the virus is stable in new guinea but is out of control in sierra leone.
