have no fear. take bw parkway this morning. everything is moving. it's nice and green, which of course is what we love to see. 270 north and south, totally fine. 66 at the virginia visitors center. of course tom is talking about the roads with spots of rain here and there, 95 in virginia. beltway looking pretty good. maryland, 95 and bw parkway rolling along as well. i'm back in 10 minutes. 5:02. in just a few hours a virginia woman who says she was fired because she was pregnant will take her fight to the supreme court. it's a fight she has already lost twice in lower courts. richard jordan is outside the the court with more. >> those arguments will begin in court. outside, several demonstrators will gather here. it has been dubbed the u.p.s. pregnancy case.

peggy is from virginia. she went to her supervisor to say she was not allowed to lift anything above 20 pounds. her job required her to lift 70 pounds. she said her supervisor told her that he could not make any accommodations, could not put her on desk duty. she was forced to leave her position. and she lost medical coverage. so she is taking that issue to court. one of the issues that will be discussed is the 1978 law. it is too vague and companies have interpreted that act in different ways. in some cases, some see it as there is no discrimination against any woman who is pregnant. but young says accommodations should have been made for her as they would for any disabled worker or another worker who would have been injured on the job. she has been to court on this before and lost two previous cases. she is hoping to be victorious

in the high court. they should last just about an hour. 5:04. police looking for two teen boys accused of abducting a man at gunpoint in the district. the victim escaped from the trunk of his own car when the teens crashed on decatur and 9th streets. the victim was not hurt. d.c. police need your help. they released this video of two women who are two persons of interest in a stabbing last week. you can see the two women running through the gallery place metro station. less than a block away from the station. at the time police told us they were looking for two suspects, both women. a man is recovering from that incident today. police trying to determine who stabbed a woman to death in

her own condo in montgomery. sourcing tell news 4 a maintenance worker told officers he discovered the woman's body. he came to her unit to make a repair and the door was open. her roommate was there when police arrived. police would not say whether the two are related or just sharing the condo. a closer look at plans to revamp the waterfront. it begins at 6:00 on jefferson street. you'll be able to the review phase one of that project, which was approved by the city council. private developers will also display their projects. a new study on depression. we will share some of the disturbing numbers about how many people are going undiagnosed in this country >> new protests in washington in the wake of the michael brown

depression of some kind. but only a third of those are getting treatment for it. the most depressed group is women between 40 and 59. more than 12% of women that age say they're depressed. teenage boys are the least depressed. 4% of them have been diagnosed with depression >> a new study finds many children are getting unnecessary chest x-rays. mayo clinic looked at data from 700 pediatric chest x-rays from a six-year period. only 12% were positive for pneumonia or bronchial trauma. they expose children to unnecessary radiation. >> just about ten minutes after 5:00. just a little drizzle driving in this morning. definitely needed the gloves, though. >> yeah. 40 degrees outside our studios.

look at the dark clouds. let's check in with storm team 4 meteorologist tom kierein. >> good morning. we are starting off with with the dark clouds producing a few scattered light showers in southern west virginia and other showers east of the blue ridge and around the metro. northern virginia, maryland, light sprinkles. enough to make all our area roads wet, damp this morning. haven't had a lot of rain but enough to make everything wet. and the side streets and sidewalks covered with leaves, watch out. they are slippery. temperatures above freezing. we dover any icing to deal with. no wintry mix like yesterday morning. upper 40s to near 50 degrees. there's the sky over the capitol. a chaps of sprinkles 8:00 or 9:00. hovering near 40. by noon, cloudy, near 50. and during the early to middle part of the afternoon between 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, making it into

welcome back at 5:15. today lawmakers on capitol hill will grill a company behind the air bag recall. takata senior vice president will testify before a congressional panel. the firm has refused to comply for an expanded nationwide recall. they can explode and shoot shrapnel when deployeded. so far 16 million vehicles worldwide are affected. new york avenue northwest is what ferguson protesters shut down overnight.

the road is open again right now. police arrested one man who may have been impersonating an officer. you can follow nbc washington on twitter for pictures and information as things are happening. in ferguson, michael brown's stepfather could face charges for his actions the day they decided not to indict darren wilson. he was standing on a car yelling burn it to the ground to the crowd. countless cars were set on fire that night. police are investigating head as a larger probe into everything that happened that night. police in ferguson are scaling back. officers no longer working 12-hour shifts. the national guard is also reducing its numbers. there are still 1,300 guardsmen there today. back here, a town hall is happening at howard university where you can talk about how you can respond. self activists and protest

leaders held a similar protest last night. that happened on k street northwest. a lot of people showed up for that en >> i understand people get frustrated you that's how we advance the investigation. and they also will discuss the garner case. police used a deadly choke hold on garner back in jail. posting threats online he is planning to kill darren wilson. it led to a lot of protests we are seeing today. wilson resigned from the ferguson police department >> happening today in washington, pridt a meats with mitch mcconnell. that meeting will likely discuss a plan to avoid another government shutdown.

and possibly discussing immigration. power is back on in detroit. a major cable problem affected court houses, firestations, schools, and traffic lights. they are upgrading their power grid. they will spend $200 million on a four-year project. a crash involving a school bus yesterday in knoxville. two school buses were taking k through third graders home. one made a turn left and t-boned the pore bus, flipping it on its side. >> this is a tragedy. we lost members of our school's family. some of our youngest children. >> investigators are trying to

find out whether one bus may have had a mechanical problem. you can learn more about the bus rapid transit system. elected officials getting together at city hall to discuss the high capacity transit service. montgomery county is working with the study to study possible brt implementation. planning studies should be complete in 2016. the meeting today is scheduled from 7:00 to 8:30. 5:19. maryland is kicking off a campaign to urge residents to shop locally. they will tour five schools and restaurants throughout the day. the first will be at the big bad wolf starting at 1 khrp 30. today you can see the christmas tree lighting ceremony at rockefeller center in new york. >> several entertainers will take part. sarah is there with more.

sarah, good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning guys. we have this star-studded lineup, including tony bennett, mariah carey, lady gaga. the star of the show is the norway spruce behind me. it has been on the radar for several years ever since the gardener spotted it while driving on the interstate. it needed a little bit more time to grow back then. but this year it is ready to take its turn in the spotlight. it was chopped down and transported from pennsylvania. the journey is about 155 miles. it is strung with energy efficient l.e.d. lights. on top is the crowning jewel. it is a swarovski star with 25,000 crystals and weighs an impressive 550 pounds. like i said, the big party happening around it later don't.

welcomed warming on the way. just been analyzing this latest long-range model. looking like rain is likely for our weekend. and we do have light rain across west virginia, virginia, maryland and the district traveling southwest, northeast. rain in fauquier and prince william. you see the patches of green. that stretches from loudoun county. a few other sprinkles in washington tracking north and east. they move it of northern prince george's. everything is damp from the overnight sprinkles and drizzle that will be continuing. a little bit of patchy fog around, but it's not really thick. temperatures above freezing. no icing. upper 30s to near 40. upper 30s, montgomery. in fairfax county, loudoun upper 30s. near 40 in prince william county. and fauquier county. and you can keep up with the changeable weather, this roller coast or ride.

on the road. a wider look at things. no major problems into and out of town. 95 here in virginia, slow northbound as you head through dale city. i'm back in 10 minutes with travel times. 5:33. now to a developing story, we're waiting on test results after a patient who may have the ebola virus was admitted to a massachusetts hospital. the person is in stable condition. this comes after president obama asked congress for more money to fight the virus. tracie potts is live on capitol hill with more on that. tracie, good morning. >> reporter: he wants $6.2 billion to deal with ebola. he was at nih talking about why it is important saying if we don't fight it in west africa, ebola could still be a threat here in the united states. the money, those emergency funds sitting here on capitol hill for weeks now is part of that big budget that congress is trying to pass by december 11th.

house and senate lawmakers say they are working on it. they are trying to get a permanent budget done that would cover everything but homeland security all the way through the end of next september. the ebola money is wrapped up in all of that. the administration announced there are now 35 treat centers in the united states that can deal with ebola. that's up from three a few weeks ago. eun? >> tracie pots live on capitol hill. tracie, thank you. the cdc released a list of american hospitals equipped to treat ebola patients. 35 are designated as ebola treatment centers. that means staff has been aoe keupd and trained to handle the complexity of ebola patients. most are close to the airports used by travelers arriving in ebola affected countries in west africa. >> coming up on 5:35. you can weigh in about a steak house and strip club in northeast d.c. you can go to u street at 4:30 this afternoon to say what you think about stadium club.

that club is trying to renew its liquor license. some say it is bad fort area. five people were shot outside the club in may. last year the d.c. office of tax and revenue seized the club for a while. they owe the district $100,000 in taxes. following the disappearance of uva student hannah gram, the crime commission endorsed several response. next year the general assembly is expected to consider the recommendations that include a new alert system for adults between 21 and 60. the bill would require police to share information and a photo with virginia state police within two hours of learning of the missing adult. fairfax county getting a $400 million federal loan to pay for the second phase of the silver line. the low interest loan will cover 45% of the county's estimated $915 million share. the second phase of the silver line will go to dulles

lawsuit as a woman claims he molested her in 1974. she said she was 15 years old when cosby took her to the "playboy" mansion and forced her to touch hip. the woman says she did not come to terms with what happened until three years ago which allowed her to file the suit under california law. he is facing several claims but no charges that he sexually assaulted women throughout his career. a student says she may have been secretedly recorded by a rabbi. kesher temple israel is also named in that lawsuit. >> we think they are all victims in some way, shape or form. and they're very affected by that. it is a devastating breach of trust.
