looking quite good. wider look at things. inner and outer loop everything flowing. lots of movement. exactly what we like to say to see. live pictures coming up in 10 minutes >> the price of tolls is going up on the new i 95 express lanes open for its first post-holiday rush. may tkpapbegan megan, what's the cost right now? >> the volume is light, so it's still looking good out there. this is really the first rush hour test. a lot of people were off last week. today we're keeping an eye on things. the rules involved here. if you're going to use the lanes, you have to have an e-zpass. if you have three or more people hov compliant, you're not going to be charged a toll.

flip the switch over to hov and you will not be charged. if you have one or two people use the e-zpass or lanes but they will charge you a toll. how is it looking? are we seeing any problems? >> it's still light out there. i'm sure as rush hour goes on we will see a lot more people turn to the 95 express lanes. right now they are feeling the tolls. it's about $4.20 for that trip into the newington area in springfield. the tolls are still low out there. message for drivers today, make sure you have the e-zpass if you take the 95 express lane. >> when do you expect things to start picking up? >> we'll see how the week depose. we have stragglers coming back

it down unless overcrowding causes problems >> prince george's county police looking for three armed robbers who broke into a home on potomac avenue. the man inside the home said he feared for his life and gave up his belongings. an alert was sent to students in the area. a bar closed after a weekend stabbing. police arrested 35-year-old joseph johnson. he is charged with assault with intent to kill. saturday morning he allegedly stabbed a man on 19th street northwest in the foggy bottom area. plus shut down the bar for 96 hours. today fred smoot will go on trial for domestic assault. prosecutors say he hurt his former girlfriend valerie jackson at her home in ashburn. she showed photos on instagram

behind a strip mall. she disappeared saturday night after her parents and uncle were shot in a home. all three of them survived. so far no arrests have been made. indonesian navy divers are hoping to identify wreckage from airasia flight 8501. sonar from u.s. navy ships was detected five large objects on the ocean floor. search teams are hoping it is the main body of the plane and believe that's where most of the passengers will be. more from the search from indonesia. >> a lot of news about airasia over the weekend, including the fact that this plane wasn't supposed to be flying that route on that day. the very latest on the investigation, where the search stands and how close they are to finding the black boxes coming up a little later on "today".

the 16-year-old and 19-year-old walking by were shot. >> my husband heard three shots, pause -- or gap, interval and then five more additional gunshots. . that neighbor asked us not to show her face. they are changing its policy. the teens are expected to be okay but or were not able to give a suspect description. heavy flames and smoke pouring out of the apartment. 15 people were displaced. three were treated for smoke inhalation and burns. . right now people in silver spring are without a home at the lennox next to the silver spring

metro. montgomery county investigators say the fire started when someone left food on the stove. damage in a southern alabama county may have been caused by a tornado. look at this. high winds knocked out power, downed a lot of trees, ripped apart buildings as well. this is video that shows the roof where one roof was torn off a home. several homes had that same damage. surprisingly though no one was hurt in that all thatdamage. that's the only positive. >> that's right. >> it's january. we knew it was coming. weather and traffic on the 1s. tom? >> that cold air will be arriving later this week. closely monitoring a developing area oessure. right now storm team 4 radar not showing any snow around the

accused of setting off bombs at the finish line with his brother. jay gray is live outside the federal courthouse with more on the jury selection. good morning. >> good morning to you, eun. that's the courthouse just behind me. here's how this process is going to start as this trial begins two years after the attack and two miles from the finish line where it all happened. they will answer at this point just the basic questionnaire. that will happen the next three days here. 3,000 potential jurors in this case after the judge refused the change of venue for the defense and refused an extension. they wanted to start the trial of this later. he says they can find a a jury here impartial jury but admits it will take time.

they will call this group down to a group they feel like they can question. both sides will get a chance to do that ultimately trying to find 12 jurors and six alternates. again, it will take time. the trial itself could last four months or longer. i'm jay gray. back to you. >> jay, thank you. took 48 days to capture for allegedly killing a pennsylvania police officer is in court today. eric frein may face the death penalty for the ambush killing of byron dixon. authorities say he confessed. bob mcdonnell will be in court tomorrow to find out whether he will be headed to prison. prosecutors want mcdonnell to spend a at least a decade in prison. his lawyers, though asked the judge to require community service instead of jail time.

maureen won't be sentenced for another month. the worker was exposed to ebola while treating people in sierra leone. this is video of the ambulance arriving at the hospital yesterday. doctors say the worker has not developed any ebola symptoms, but they are taking precautions. president obama heads back to the oval office today preparing for a multicity brain storming campaign. this week alone the will be talking jobs in detroit, home sales in phoenix, and jobs in tennessee. he will emphasize the agenda that he wants to pursue with the new congress taking office tomorrow. they will use their first few days in congress to challenge the president on a number of items. among the top raoeurts for them change some of the language in the affordable health care act and act on legislation for the keystone xl pipeline.

it's worth at least $80,000. ad it for about three months. there's been an arrest in a double shooting in park d.c. that has seen a a spike in crime. investigators are now charged a man in the shooting. and carrying a firearm without a permit. murders, sex assaults were all up in ward five which prompted public safety meetings with police and city leaders. thousands of police officers from across the country pay tribute to a murdered new york city police officer. among them was a group from anne arundel county. the funeral for detective liu was not without protest. officers still turned their backs to mayor bill i did blasseo as he spoke. everyone listened as of just two months remembered

are worried about the flu spreading even more. the flu shot may not bes effective this year. experts still recommend getting the vaccine. the problem is a strain of the flu virus mutated this year. the h3n2 strain is not even more severe than any other strains but it is not covered by this year's vaccine. it is too late to make a new vaccine this season. it still protects another strain that sickened a lot of people last year. >> it means it is not going to provide the same level of protection but it will provide some protection. >> a fifth grader in loudoun county died last month due to complications from the flu. practice good hygiene. wash hands frequently. cover your cough as well as washing your hands. 11 before the hour now. a family is preparing for a

funeral for a man who was hit and killed by a snowplow. this happened in connecticut. the man was jogging before dawn. police believe he stepped in the road before running into the snow. take a look at the damage left behind by severe weather in georgia. fires were out yesterday morning trying to secure tarps on one home where the roof was partially blown off. a church steeple was sheered off and crashed to the ground. >> wow. a lot of cleanup to do there. >> around here we're waiting, anticipating trying to prepare for bitterly cold air that will be moving into our area. >> 20 below zero in wisconsin. . 60 degrees warmer here. there is sky now. and it's getting a little bit lower. a few clouds coming through. that's a live view. we have it all clear on the radar.

our windchill dress warmly. tomorrow morning by 3:00 a.m. snow getting closer to washington. that will be 7:00 in the morning. it will be snowing lightly. north and west of us as well snow falling in montgomery county. the rest of the morning, just a little bit of light snow. mainly northern virginia. around the metro area 10:00 a.m. it continues to slowly track to the north and east. by noon time much of it will be exiting the region and to our north and east. snow showers there into the afternoon. after it is all done by early afternoon, we may get one, two, three inches in the high spots of west virginia.
