well. things running at speed. we have a mess down the line. 95 right around the fairfax county parkway, take a look at this live vdot camera. you can see the backup. we have a five-mile backup on the main lanes of 95 in that area. if you look at the express lanes, they are moving. a lot of people were on vacation last week. so this is a first chance to see how people react and how many people are losing the lanes this week. we are seeing people jumping on board. talk a little bit about the tolls. the cost changes. what are we seeing in terms of price. >> that's right. the cost is all based on the real-time demand. this morning it was light out there. we are seeing increased traffic

and more folks choosing to use the 95 express lanes. five minutes ago, it was just under $7 to take a 22 mile trip. a lot of drivers choosing to use those lanes to get a faster trip on 95. but you need the e-zpass. smooth sailing in the 95 express lanes. remember if you're on the 95 express lane the last exit before you reach the hov lanes. the car poolers can continue into the hov lanes. >> thank you for joining us this morning. we'll keep an eye on it and bring you another update later in the show.

>> megan, thanks. starting today you won't be able to use a few escalators at the woodley park metro station for the next four years. metro is replacing six escalators. they have been there since the station opened in 1981. metro plans to take two out of service at the time. it will only close the station if it's overcrowded for safety reasons. it won't be finished until at least 2018. today more than 1,000 potential jurors will be at the federal courthouse in boston. selection begins in the trial against the suspected boston marathon bomber tsarnaev. his brother was killed out in a shoot-out with police days following that bombing. tsarnaev has pleaded not guilty. coming up at 6:30 a live report from boston about how prosecutors will shrink the pool to pick 12 jurors.

prince george's county police looking for three armed men who broke into a home. this happened just blocks from the university of maryland campus in college park on potomac avenue. the man inside the home said he feared for his life and gave the men his belongings he was not hurt. an alert was sent to students in that area. a memorial service will take place today for the northern virginia yoga teacher who died while hiking in mexico. his family says he fell off a a cliff and hit his head while hiking. search crews found his body in a ravine. 6:06. not one but two major d.c. sports figure will be in court. fred smoot is facing domestic assault charges. his trial starts today. prosecutors say he hurt his former girlfriend valerie jackson at her home in ashburn. smoot denies the claims. over in fairfax county, a trial

bomber dzhokhar tsarnaev. jay, good morning. >> reporter: hey, good morning to you, eun. that's the federal courthouse just behind me. we see a stepped up police presence on the ground and in the harbor here. we expect r expect to see the suspect in this case dzhokhar tsarnaev at some point time. he will not be in the presence of the potential jurors. they will come in two different groups. more than 250 in the morning session. another group of that size in the evening. just answering a basic questionnaire. this is a process that will continue the next three days. then the court will remove those that obviously are unable or unqualified to serve. next the attorneys will go through the remaining part of the jury pool to try to call that down to the six alternates that will serve on this jury. two primary questions in all of this can they be fair and can they impose the death penalty if

this is really our first test for people who use it during rush hour circumstances. a lot of people were off last week. so we expect to see traditional srapls today. keep in mind if you're using the express lanes, you absolutely have to have an e-zpass. if you are hov compliant, three or more people in your card you will not be charged as long as you have the e-zpass flex. otherwise you have to play the toll. it could save you time this morning many back to you in the studio. >> megan, thank you. starting today, metro will take its next step towards replacing 100 escalators throughout the metro system. you will see crews at the woodley park station which opened more than 30 years ago. metro plans to shut down two escalators at a time to replace six of them. the escalators are the third longest in the system. each takes a year to replace. four things to know before you head out on this monday.
