l focus for the forecast is on your monday morning commute. check out how many winter weather advisories have already been posted for our friends and neighbors just out to the north and west all on the north side of the ohio river from illinois and indiana all the way up into southern parts of pennsylvania. i fully expect that the weather service here in the washington area will issue some form of a winter weather advisory later on this afternoon or later tonight for the monday morning time because it's just going to be a very cold start with rain moving in. right now temperatures are still in the teens and most of our western suburbs around downtown they'll gradually make it into the upper 30s to around 40 degree. no problems for today with temperatures well above the freezing mark. the possibility of freezing rain between about 2:00 and 9:00 in the morning. you'll need to use extreme kaulgs and build extra time in your monday morning routine. i'll give you the breakdown and what you'll be look at coming up. >> thank you. today alexandria police will be

out warning neighbors about a dangerous robbery suspect on the loose. on friday an 84-year-old man was stabbed during a home robbery. this was in delray neighborhood. "news 4"'s's" zachary joining us. >> later today police have announced that they'll be canvassing going door to door alerting residents about this violent robbery suspect and asking questions, trying to get clues. a quiet, quiet street people walking their dogs. it's a beautiful enclave here in alexandria but that wasn't the case last friday when an elderly 84-year-old man came home in the process a robbery happening in his house. perhaps the man was spooked and that 84-year-old gentleman was stabbed. again, they're ramping up efforts to search for clues and try to bring peace to this

otherwise beautiful community here in alexandria. we'll have updates all morning long. reporting live zachary kiesch "news 4." >> thank you, zach. >> search teams believe they're close to finding the black boxes of the air shay plane. they say they can hear the boxes picking. they've also used sonar to discover what they believe are the black boxes. the plane crashed two weeks ago with 126 people on board. indonesian people say they've identified neil 32 of the 50 bodies that have been recovered. new this morning our team is on the phone right now with police working to learn a lot more about shootings that happened overnight. on t. street a boy was shot. the police have not said the boy's age. you can see where they shut it down. this is in the ekington neighborhood. police do not have a suspect

right now. meanwhile police are looking for a tall man wearing a maf whok they say is connected to another deadly shooting. the man was killed faw blocks away from the columbia metro station. we're working to find out his name as well. >> france is still recovering from this week's terror attacks that have left 17 did. take a look right now. hundreds of thousands attending a m.a.s.h.arch in the nation. they'll fight terrorism with freedom. heads of several european nations and attorney general eric holder will be at france's march. police are ready for the crowds and will be at attack level. the terrorists were killed friday by police. right now there's an international manhunt for this woman.

leave yourself some extra time especially if you live out or you're traveling out toward 91, or toward the panhandle. you'd never guess there's wintry weather based on this sky. but it's cold. look at the ice on the potomac. remember all the ice on the lakes and streams too thin to get on. stay off the ice. 26 at reagan national. a little bit of a breeze. the winds are nowhere near as much of a factor as they were yesterday. 15 in frederick, 19 in thomas brooke. plenty of cold air around. temperatures are going to do a big rise up with abundant sunshine sunshine. clou come in late this afternoon and tonight. but with the temperatures as low as they are, you'll still need your heavy coat and sunglasses and all that sunshine out there.

freezing rain is a real possibility on monday morning. main areas for threat will be frederick county maryland out into places like martinsburg and winchester northern loudoun county anywhere you've got more terrain and trapped pockets into the sheltered valley. it's been plenty cold for days and ground is frozen. even though it's above freezing above where the rain drops are, rain freezing on contact is the reason we call it freezing rain. between 2:00 and 9:00 in the morning. that's when you need to be on the most guard for any slipperiness. look at all the advisories to the north and west. i do expect those advisories will expand into the "news 4" nation before our day is done. by the time you get up temperatures at or below the freezing mark. it's not going to be the deep

people. >> this is how i win the autograph signing contest. the only one who goes both days. come on down and say hello. i'll have my red sharpie ready to go. outside for now, it's a cold start this morning and believe it or not, amid all the sunshine out there, we are facing the possibility of some wintry weather around there first thing tomorrow morning. a lot of advisories out to our north and west. i've been repeating this many times. i fully expect some form of a winter weather advisory for at least portions of the "news 4" nation by the time we go to bed tonight. right now the temperatures are in the teens or 20s out there this morning. the afternoon highs, upper 30s to around 40. clouds will be on the increase by later on this afternoon and then hour by hour through tomorrow icing likely. especially northern montgomery and areas toward the blue ridge and shenandoah valley. then it becomes a nasty cold rainy monday. i'll get more into it as to who

sees the greatest threat of seeing some ice coming up in a few minutes. >> thanks chuck. we're hearing from the prince george's officers who attempted the dangerous rescue of a boy from a frimgd pond. the boy died. "news 4's" derrick ward with what they went through to try to rescue him. >> reporter: these three prince george's county police officers whose paths had brt brought together in they'll never forget. brendan taylor was working security >> i heard the mom scream for help. >> reporter: her child was in the water ahmed sheets of ice. another child would lead taylor to tne he could see the child's clothes on the water. >> at that time i started to creep on the ice and it started crack. >> reporter: other officers started arriving and were going in. >> i started making my way out there and the ice broke.

4." >> the community is strieing to figure out how to prevent this tragedy from happening again. some are advocating for a fence around the pond but it doesn't have complete support. now to a sad story. funeral arrangement ss are being made for five people. take a look. this tractor-trailer rolled over this car. a woman from virginia, her boyfriend and his sister who was pregnant all died as well as the woman's 7-year-old daughter and h-old son. a police officer is recovering today after a three-car accident in greenbelt. you're looking at video that shows the damage to the police car there. it happened around 1:30 in the morning yesterday on greenbelt's road near hanover park way. the police cruiser was rear-ended and a d.c. woman was charged with dui. no one, though was seriously hurt. well preeventualing more

right now the nbc 4 health & fitness expo is going on at the convention center in northwest washington, d.c. time to pull it up. >> tliets. cooking, weight loss sports. you can even get a massage as doreen got when she was doing the last live shot. >> everything's downhill from now. >> i had to give it up. there was a line. they were giving me the stink eye.

i had to vacate the massage chair, what can i say. this is a really good reason to bring your family down here. take a look at this. we've got a very likely soccer game going on. united social sports sponsors this. that's more my speed and we've got the president from the washington nationals. we've got abe lincoln and president taft over there. they're surprisingly and fiercely competitive. we've been watching them. and these kids have a lot of energy. if your kids have a lot of energy this would be a great opportunity and bring them down and let them work some of that energy off. united social sports is an adult social sports league. they're the league that sponsors a lot of softball and kickball and games you see at the national mall and they're all over the dmv. very popular.

if you're interested in joining one of those leagues, you can come town and talk to them. we have a whole lot of other active opportunities for young people down here at the d.c. convention center. obstacle courses for kids. we've got several of those. the world police and fire games have set up one that you saw diane russini scrambling through yesterday. the redskins are right over there and they're teaching kids how to pass and catch and you can pose with your head in a redskins uniform. you've got a rock climbing wall and dance dance revolution and tennis and you can come adults can come and learn how to play tennis. a bunch of dance and fitness class opportunities for kids. all of it is free. that's the best part. we'll be here until 4:00. take the metro. it's the best way to get down here. i'll be back in a little bit to

maryland, clouds coming in during the evening. the real impact you have to worry about is for tomorrow. areas of freezing rain are going to be a possibility first thing tomorrow morning. really starting late late late tonight into the early morning hours tomorrow. the deeper moisture will change it to rain. this is going to ride right up over the top of the cold air that's trapped down at the ground. as a result the ground is frozen. that's the reason for the freezing rain threat. perfect opportunity for you to download your weather app. i just finished typing in the last of the five zones about 25 minutes ago. wakeup temperatures. right at the freezing mark. and as a result, we could see somiziness, especially north and west. here's the way our future weather forecast model does it. it's raising in the clouds.

it's the problem with freezing on contact. by 7:00 8:00 the herbier steadier rain will change all of this over to plain old rain. here's where the monday morning risks are the highest. mostly just rain in southern maryland and bayside. a medium chance of some icy freezing rain here. but the highest threat and tricky travel will be out to the northwest. if you're living and traveling in those places extreme caution advised. a little chance for ugg willness first thing tomorrow morning and a rain chance on wednesday and finally milder weather
