freezing rain could be moving in. how area crews are getting ready. my uncle, my best friend, would still be here -- >> a show of support for a tow truck driver killed on the job. what his grieving loved ones want from you. people at the largest demonstration in france's history send a message to terror warmer weather today but by tomorrow we could all be in for something very very different. good evening. i'm chris lawrence. we're closely following changes in the forecast because of possible freezing rain. storm team 4's emilamelia segal

shows us when it could start. >> the national weather service has issued a freezing rain advisory for the potential of freezing rain in the forecast. this is going to begin for everybody at 10:00 p.m. tonight and run through the morning hours tomorrow for most of us. until 9:00 a.m. this includes the d.c. metro area prince william, north of washington western laden, western montgomery county frederick county areas in pink have freezing rain until 1:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. if you're in those areas, damascus frederick, you have the best chance of seeing a coating of ice tomorrow. rain and freezing rain arrive overnight tonight. a coating of ice is possible especially for those of you north of washington. everybody is dealing with a wet morning commute and a slick commute for some. coming up in 15 minutes i'm going to have more on timing when exactly the rain and freezing rain arrive in the area

and when this comes to an end. news 4 is closely monitoring how our communities are preparing for this possible freezing rain. d.c. is deploying hundreds of plows like these tonight. v-dot had 1,500 trucks out this weekend. in fact they want you to delay your commute tomorrow morning so they can treat the roads. we'll have a full list of school closings and "news 4 today" will start early tomorrow to get you prepared at 4:00 a.m. a northern virginia neighborhood is on alert tonight after an elderly man was stabbed in his own home. police are back in the northridge neighborhood in alexandria hoping someone has video that can lead them to the man who did it. zachary kiesch has more from people who live near the home on jackson place. >> reporter: police went door for this afternoon in alexandria informing residents of a violent robbery suspect still loose, and asking questions. >> it's very quiet. family friendly. stable neighborhood. >> reporter: for about 15 years

now darrell nuremberg has called the northridge neighborhood home. >> close to the city. as new people come here and spend their lives here it's not very transient. >> reporter: friday this house on jackson place turned into a crime scene when an elderly couple returned to their home. inside an intruder in the process of carrying out a robbery. spooked perhaps, the suspect stabbed the 84-year-old homeowner. that man still in critical condition. and darrell says that's not all. >> the gentleman's wife was brought to an atm machine. that's the word going around the neighborhood. >> reporter: not far from here about a year ago, another alexandria resident was killed inside of her home. the suspect in that case charles severance, has been charged. >> randomness of this has everybody in the neighborhood very concerned. >> reporter: darrell describes it as a quiet neighborhood a place where people come and in many cases never leave. some residents haven't been happy with the police response time. all the folks that i spoke to just want things to return to

normal. >> i would suspect everybody's reminded again that you cannot take your security too lightly anywhere. and need to be taking precautions. >> reporter: charges include burglary robbery, malicious wounding and abduction. a sense of safety stolen in alexandria. >> tonight d.c. police are investigating two deadly shootings, one of them involved a teenager. investigators say someone shot a 17-year-old boy this morning near second and t street northeast. paramedics rushed andrew newman to the hospital but he died. right now there's no information on the suspect. earlier in the night officers responded to another shooting in northwest near 13th and monroe. investigators say a man was shot multiple times and that suspect is still on the run. there was a massive show of solidarity in paris. more than 3 million people marched throughout france to honor 17 victims and show how unified they are in the wake of last week's terror attacks.

some officials are calling this the largest demonstration in france's history. about 40 world leaders led the somber procession. but president francois hollande said the people will ride up to something better. today extremely tight security. police have killed three of the four suspected terrorists who have been linked to al qaeda. the militants' female accomplice is still on the loose and may have left the country. people here in our area are joining in solidarity with the demonstrators there in paris. news 4's derek ward will join us lurch with how they're are honoring those victims in about ten minutes. there was outpouring of love and support today for the family of a tow truck driver killed on the beltway. nearly 400 tow truck drivers from the area gathered in fairfax to remember a.j.hasham who died on december 29th. investigators say a.j. was hit by a truck while trying to tow a car that was left unattended on

the shoulder of 495. his family says his death highlights the importance of the "move over" law. >> for him to be gone because someone didn't adhere to a simple law, just moving one lane over my brother would still be here if someone had just switched lanes. >> a.j. was a wonderful human being. and this testimonial here is something in my 60 years i've never seen in my life. >> in fact we're told there were so many tow truck drivers that came out to remember a.j. today, aaa had limited service across the d.c. area. in riverdale, maryland someone tossed ashes from a fireplace in the gar paj and that reignited a fire on chestnut avenue. investigators sate ashes started a fire in the carport last night and then it spread. smoke alarm alerted two people inside who got out okay. they managed to escape because of a smoke alarm. it has been a busy weekend for prince george's county firefighters. crews battled five different

disturbing cell phone video, a 1-year-old baby playing with a gun. now her mom is facing criminal charges. >> pow, pow, pow! >> police found this video on a man's cell phone when he tried to sell the gun to an undercover officer. he's not the father but he's in a relationship with the mother who was also there. they've both been charged with child neglect, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon allowing a child to possess a firearm. the baby girl has twin siblings who are a month old. they're all in protective custody. monday will mark five years since a magnitude 7.0 earthquake devastated haiti destroying 100,000 buildings. the haitian government claims it killed more than 300,000 people. the recovery has made progress but 80,000 haitians are still living in camps. coming up tonight at 11:00, hear from survivors of the disaster who started new lives in

here in d.c. nearly 3,000 people came out to support freedom of expression and honor the victims of the terror attacks in paris. the march was led by gerard aral french ambassador to the united states. derek ward is live at the st. louis de france parish. >> reporter: there is no denying the historical links between french democracy and american dem fraegs the french level lose 11 years after the american revolution france taking a lot of cues from america. i think that was embodied in what went on here in washington deed. now of course it started downtown with a march in solidarity with the french people. it was organized by the embassy of france a nation rooked by the extremist violence that's claimed so many lives in recent days. the marches went from the museum to the national law enforcement memorial. less public the prayers and words of faith at a critical time for religion and democracy. at st. louis de france parish on

garrison street northwest is a focal point for the local french community. there was a lot of meditation about what comes next. we spoke to father jeanne-marie vincent. he told of the message cliffed in an earlier service today and how to move forward. what he told us was that young parishioner told him that he agreed with the message that he had, that we had to pray for the terrorists as well because of course their souls were now before god. he tells me that young parishioner was no more than 12 years old. but obviously wise beyond his years. and with a level of circum intersection we can all aspire to at difficult times like this. >> thanks so much. the final day of our nbc 4 health and fitness expo just wrapped up at the convention ce.

>> a lot of people were asking while i was there today, asking what is it going to be like tomorrow? looking ahead to monday morning. >> there is a possibility of freezing rain tomorrow morning. everybody dealing with rain for sure for that morning commute. so even without the freezing rain it's alrea slow go. allow extra time. if you can delay going in by 9:00 a.m. any freezing rain will transition over to only rain. again, that timing 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. because of the possibility of freezing rain in the forecast, tomorrow morning a weather alert day, tom will be in early, on air at 4:00 a.m. with weather updates tracking the latest radar storm team radar, exactly what's going on and where freezing rain is falling. as we look to wednesday, a slide chance of a little bit of rain and snow. but really all focus is on tomorrow morning. for this week no extreme cold in the forecast. here's the latest satellite and radar. as you can see, rain back in west virginia. it's going to take a little bit for us to see any showers here inside of the d.c. metro area.

by about 9:00 10:00 a.m. we could see scattered showers around here. as early as 10:00 p.m. tonight, there could be some freezing rain in parts of frederick and western loudoun counties. future weather let me show you the timing of this. notice by 4:00 a.m. everybody is seeing rain. wants to bring out some freezing rain in parts of washington frederick, and carroll countys. everybody has that threat of seeing a little bit of freezing rain until 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. after that we continue to track showers throughout the day tomorrow. a soggy monday. rain comes to an end overnight tomorrow. so the monday morning risk ice is possible inside of the beltway. for southern maryland to like a rain-only event for you. ice is likely up to .1 inches in parts of western montgomery western loudoun, frederick counties. i'm going to be posting this on my facebook and twitter pages so head there to see the latest forecast throughout the evening. temperatures right now are in the mid to upper 30s. and lows tonight just below that

freezing mark. 31 in washington. notice the areas where ice is more likely. gaithersburg frederick, leesburg drop to around 30 or lower. high temperature tomorrow of 38 degrees. we hit that at 3:00 in the afternoon. but at the bus stop delays are certainly possible because of that threat of freezing rain. remember though all rain by 9:00 a.m. tuesday, cold and breezy high temperature of 33. mid 30s on wednesday. thursday upper 30s. then 40s. next weekend mid 40s for high looking nice. again, we're going to continue to keep an eye or that threat of freezing rain tomorrow morning. the red carpet is ready. stars are getting dolled up. one of hollywood's big parties starts in a few hours. the 72nd annual golden globes are on tonight right here on nbc 4. our golden globe coverage is going to start right after this newscast with "first look live on the red carpet." at 7:00 see what everyone is
