report of light smoke at that station. this is a live picture near the scene. you can see firefighters are there in posi. theyay they believe this was an issue with the arcing insulator. the insulator keeping the power on the third rail from coming into contact with another substance when t is an issue with the insuteorinsulator, is not uncommon see#cf smoke or spark. that appears b situation r t o track. now single tracking between boston clarendon declays 20 to 30 minutes on both lines as firefighters lo at the situation. maintenance crues looking to make sure it's not a lingering proble with further effects. initially we saw a lot more firefighters. nowust one fire truck but we are in contact with the fire department and will keep you posted as we get more information touthe hour. >> thanks, richard. traffic is getting back to normal, but crews are still cleaning up afterñp a water main

break wraeked havoc during rush hour. megan mcgrath joins us live from the scene to tell us how repairs are going. good morning. >> reporter: mn barbara. just within the last 15 minutes or so they actually started to dig down there, trying to get down to the pipe to see what kind of a break they have. this is center park drive. you can see the gaping hole. we'll told it's going to take anywhere from six to eight hours to fix this broken water main, and while the water is off now when it broke this morning, there was a real flood a gush of water that actually got into some of the area businesses, and caused a real problem out there on the roads. work crews scrape up the mud and gravel blown up on to the sidewalk. inside the fitness club and the lobby of park center, there is water thorysnd into the building any way it could get in. >> reporter: howh water? >> at least three, four feet came in. we jumped on top of it.

>> reporter: the troue began early this morning when a water main broke on park center drive in alexandria. cell phone pictures and video taken by people in the area show what looked like a geyser shooting up into the air q] water went into the nearby building, and pouring down on to busy king street. with freezing temperatures, king became a sheet of ice, and had to be closed during the middle of rush hour. it all made for an unpleasant commute. and with king street closed that caused problems for schools in the area. there were four schools that had their bus lines impacted this morning. they coul the buss to the neighborhoods to pick up the kids. those kids had to actually find their own way to school this k. morning. i talked to the school system a little while ago. they say everything is back to normal. the kids will go home on their usual buses home late other than this afternoon.dápk÷ reporting live i alexandria, megan mcgrath news 4. sunny skies and warmer

we begin breaking news. live at the metro station with more. what's happening? >> reporter: th sce started at about 10:00 way report of smoke here in the boston station. when we got h ene. we are told that the situation has been cleared. however ther symbol tracking outbound trains through the stations while they checked on the problem. we saw several firefighters leaving the scene. when we went down to the station, there was no visible smoke. you did smell something unusual. not completely unusual. if you ride metro every now and then you smell what seems to be some sort of metallic smell. no smoke in the station at this oq]ctáj p r(t&háhp &hc%rtnlnoept injury but an abundance of;$=cz caution after this week's incident on metro. and we have talked to a
