show us about more tonight. >> if you had rain today, you could be dealing with isolated slick spots tomorrow morning. first i want to show you this picture, this taken by ver ron kay it was a messy morning commute. for us in southern maryland it was all about a lot of rain. you could see a few showers around the area about 7:00 p.m. we're talking about low temperatures. for a lot of us in the suburbs, below that freezing mark. tomorrow it will be dry, but. >> all right. thanks, amelia. at one point this morning, conditions and some cars ended

up stranded. road crews worked into the afternoon puts salt down. icy roads have been causing a lot of issues. in yonkers, new york this suv slid down the slick road before it crashed into a curb. fortunately the driver was not seriously hurt. a bit further south, there was a massive pileup just outside philadelphia. icy roads caused more than 50 vehicle toss crash into each other. one person was killed in a pileup. another 30 people were hurt. in the bridge that connects philadelphia to new jersey had to be shut down as well. traffic was backed up tess benjamin franklin bridge as salt trucks went back and forth treating the bridge. developing tonight, the lights are back on 59 tiesens corner center after a power outage left shoppers in the dark. derrick ward is live tonight at tysons. do we know what caused the

outage. >> reporter: according to dominion power this could to do with transformers. the whole thing lasted about 90 minutes. it was just after 1:00. there's lots of ambient light in the maul because of course that's the way it's designed but some of the individual stores did close their doors, because they don't have security or cash registers when there is no power, but the mall itself never closed. dominion sent crews here immediately. they started dealing with the problem. as i said they isolated it. the billest issue that some people moo might have been the traffic lines. but again, the mall itself never closed.

not necessarily all of the stores are on the same transformers. also some of these stores do have auxiliary systems of their own. but again, dominion has cleared this situation. it only as you can see, things are back to normal derrick ward. >> thank you very much. two men have been injured after they were caught in an explosion in an office building in downtown d.c. the men are engineers at the davis building on k street northwest. even though it's a weekend, a lot of offices were occupied. it's believed the explosion happened in a boiler room and sent occupants running outside. >> we saw two men who were apparently the engineers who are on the floor. as a result the the explosion.

with the penthouse -- >> the two men were taken to the hospital for treatment. someone fired shots near the vice president's home. tonight the secret service is working with the fbi to find out who. agencies heard the gunfire last night in greenville delaware. police officers set up a perimeter around the house and interviewed neighbors. they didn't find any damage to the bidens' home. they were in delaware but they were not at home at the time of the shooting. dozens of people converged on dupont circle today to remember the victims who may have been killed by bockka haram extremists. there are reports they massacred up to 2,000 people. the nigerian government claims that only 150 people died, but amnesty international released images of thousands of structures burnt down. this morning police found a man shot to death at the bragg motel in upper marlboro.

investigators don't think it was a random shooting but they haven't released the victim's name or a possible motive. metro is issuing a public apology. the transit agency took out an ad in today's "the washington post," and i apology is in the form of a letter from metro's chairman of the board. he says metro is working to make sure it never happens again. one person died monday, 80 others had to be taken to the hospital after an electrical problem filled a tunnel and train with heavy smoke. in a direct message, downs writes -- your safety and your trust in metro to deliver safe and reliable service, is paramount to us. the national traffic safety board said it took -- next at 6:00 a pro golfer misses 9 cut, and his day went downhill from there. how he ended up looking bad. teenage sweethearts are now

surveillance video captured a vehicle smashing into a family's home in the milled of the night. it is news 4's darcy spencer reports, the driver nearly ran someone over trying to get away. >> so they came in through this corner. >> katie moran shows the damage left behind when this happened a car smashed into the bowie home in the middle of the night. it was captured on the home surveillance camera. >> i was actually at the hospital. my sister had given birth to twins, and my husband called and said t. a car just ran into the house. >> about 1:20 in the morning, i heard a louse crash, heard the crunch of the grahame door. >> they saw it was a car, possibly a nissan the driver apparently lost control, hit the house and kept going. the passenger was nearly run over when he got out.

noon a temperature of 43 it will be breezy for the midday and afternoon hours. though the thermometer will say temperatures are in the low 40s, it will feel like temperatures are in the upper 30s tomorrow afternoon. we hit our high temperature of 44 right around 3:00 4:00 p.m. tomorrow. looking ahead to tuesday as the kids head back to school after the holiday, chilly at the bus stop dry, looking good recess nice for winter plenty of sunshine temperatures even a bit warmer. make sure they play outside, because it's not looking bad at all. wednesday, this is the day we have the clipper system moving in from the north. here's the latest on the storm system. the rain and snow line really in play in our area. so we're kind of having difficulty leading up to the forecast. if you're going to see rain snow mixing in or all snow. if we do see snow it's not looking like a dot. a dusting to 2 inches is possible. we need to keep an eye on timing.

today, vick fangio was in town interviews for the skins defensive coordinator opening. he held that same position in san francisco. just a few days ago, he was released from his contract by the 49ers. yesterday he flew in to meet with redskins team officials. those meetings still ongoing today. fangio spent four season in san francisco, his defense one of the top units in the league during that stretch. they do share the same agent. he is also interviewed with the chicago bears about their defensive coordinator opening. elsewhere around the nfl, the denver broncos may be closing in on hiring a head coach, multiple reports say that gary kubiak is the favorite to land that scope. espn saying that if offered to cuban, he would take it. this season he was in baltimore. before that he spent eight seasons as head cough of the houston texans. he did not win a single playoff game in houston.
