call it an insurance policy for your fertility. egg freezing. the process of taking a woman's eggs when sneeze her reproductive years and preserving them to use later. fertility experts say it's growing faster here than other parts of the country. >> reporter: immediate raydell, 34 lives in arlington, healthy fit and has a successful career but she says there's still one thing missing. she hasn't met a husband yet. so that means having a family will have to wait. >> time goes so fast and i think it was, i was approaching my 33rd birthday and couldn't believe three years had gone by and i was like i really need to take this seriously. >> reporter: she's talking about her fertility, as women mature so do their eggs and the older the eggs the tough ter is to have a child. >> they're born with all the eggs they're ever going have as their eggs age, they're not as functional. >> reporter: now doctors improved the process of freezing whipping's eggs allowing them to

have children later in life. this doctor is the co-founder of shady grove fertility one of the largest clinics of its kind in the country. >> people have been trying to freeze parts of ovaries, eggs for a number of year, but the success has not been very good. prior to a few years ago. >> reporter: doctors had been using a slow freezing process called cry oh preservation but which the eggs were thawed they would look like this. cloudy and's crystallized and often the egg wasn't viable. but doctors say a new technique called vitt traification is preserving eggs that look more like this. smooth and clear, and that's the mark of a healthier egg. >> we've had around 90 patients actually i think over 100 patients now return to use their frozen eggs and success rates are really based on the age of the woman at the time she froze. >> reporter: michelle is the director of the egg freezing program at shady grove and says pregnancy success rates with frozen eggs range from 35 top

55% with younger eggs being the most successful. >> if you think the statistics seem a little low, i think it's because the average age for freezing is about 37 1/2. i think as it becomes more mainstream women are, you know, exploring careers and further education, i think we'll start to see that age decrease and with younger women, you're going to see higher pregnancy rates. >> reporter: she says right now the clinic allows women between the ages of 32 and 38 to freeze their eggs though they'll make exceptions in certain cases. eggs can be used up until the woman turns 51. pray dell says she froze her eggs in september. a tough decision but one that makes her proud. >> it gives me a little bit more peace, and i'm not saying that it's the perfect solution. for everyone. but for me i feel excited that i did it and took that risk for myself. >> and freezing is pricey and not koeshed by health insurance

and of course talking about most likely south and east of the i-95 corridor. here's future weather. this is the latest computer model. one of the latest modelling we have here and one thing to note. here we are at 6:00 tomorrow night, and we already have rain developing. so this is moving a little faster than we were thinking previously. thinkingal:00, 9:00. now it's 6:00 putting it in the heart of rush hour. heads up especially i-95 to fredericksburg southern maryland and look back to the west. we have snow mixing in at times towards culpepper, the shenandoah valley and i-81. heads up there. at 11:00, the warmer air starts to move in and just about everybody is rain. the rain's coming down fairly heavily. look at the snow though. again, the snow would come down fairly quickly, too. between 6:00 and 11:00, in this area frederick, maybe leesburg winchester gaithersburg could see a quick one to two inches before it changes to rain and early saturday morning i think most of us rain with snow back

towards the west and even during the day saturday. we will see some areas change over but i'm still thinking this is mostly rain. could that change? yes. all we need is a couple degrees cooler and go back to snow. what i'm thinking as far as snow impacts. mainly rain to the south. maybe a quick one inch maybe more before the changeover and then back to snow on the back side. so you might see snow and then the snow gone because of the rain and snow again during the afternoon on saturday. back tolt west. two-plus inches. some could see a little more than this. upwards of three to four inches if we see sn the forecast tomorrow. and amelia segal in at 11:00. we gorge to be right around average for this time of year. if you want snow you want it colder. look at numbers. high 41 saturday. mix moving through the area. on sunday the next storm moving in. that one's a clipper system that one now looks colder.
