teens in a lot of places, however that story will be changing in the hours ahead to one of rain and sleet. storm team 4 meteorologist tom kierein is matching the changes with your hour by hour forecast. >> a little bit of a disturbance coming through later today may give us a little bit of sleet and snow north and west. frigid morning. we'll have a little bit of the mix coming in around sunset. snow chances are looking a little bit higher for sunday and perhaps into monday. and the sky over washington is clear now. we'll have sunshine through the morning. your hour by hour forecast still only around 20 by 8:00 a.m. then quickly jumping into the 30s by noontime. increasing clouds through the afternoon. may actually get low 40s around 3:00 or so. and then between around 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. a little bit of rain in the metro area and perhaps a little bit of snow and sleet to our north and west where there may be a dusting northern montgomery county northern loudoun county, just in the teens right now.

next weather and traffic on the 1s, a meal gentleman a meal wramelia segal will join us live. crews are starting to wrap up repairs on a broken water main break. d.c. water has been out all night fixing the broken main. it shut down several the water main broke at connecticut and a streets. some roads are still shut down. we want to go to megan mcgrath with how this could affect your commute. >> reporter: well, r is still shut down at connecticut avenue. but i don't think that that will be the case much longer. if you take a look behind me you can see that they're putting the final touches on the repair work here. they put down a steel plate over the hole on r street. and they're just salting the area getting rid of some of the ice that formed overnight when the water main broke. they have also patched up the hole that is in the sidewalk and we're told that they have restored water and completely fixed this pipe.

so while they do there work, r will remain closed but they have been making a lot of progress in the last hour or so. so i don't think it will be too much longer. connecticut avenue you're okay. that will open overnight, so that's not affected. just r street is a problem right now. but we'll keep an eye on it and let you know exactly when it opens, hopefully fingers crossed it won't be too much longer. now with more, we go over to melissa. rosemary street at connecticut avenue a report of a brand new crash there. we'll get more information and tweet about that. live picture at 95 in maryland at 198, no problems there. a little bit of volume southbound. wide look overall no major issues. a little slow here d.c. 295 as you're passing 50. 270 at father hurley, these folks headed southbound. still have delays on metro, blue

christmas tree. the tree had been up for 65 days and was dried out. the fire spread quickly. don and sandy pyle and their grandchildren had no time to get out. investigators say a sprinkler system in the home would have saved their lives and stopped the fire. starting in june, all new homes in maryland will be required to have sprinkler systems. in light of the new information in this accident, the boon pyle family released statement saying while the explanation that has been shared with us today does not bring solace it does start us down the long road to acceptance. today you can learn more about a plan to require paid sick leave in montgomery county. the county is considering the new law that would mandate businesses give you an hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. employees could earn as much as 7 days of paid time off each year. this would also require safe leave which is paid time off for

a lot of fun. meanwhile, security preparations are ramping up ahead of the super bowl on sunday. drones have already been banned around the stadium. and there are a lot of other security measures in place there right now, too. sarah dallof live with a look at what to expect. >> reporter: good morning. already huge crowds coming down lear to visit super bowl central. and with them comes a huge security presence. we have state, local and federal authority, including the fbi and homeland security all working together to keep people safe both in downtown phoenix and at the stadium in glendale. they have reactivated the see something say something campaign asking fans to be vigilant, report anything sus pushpicious. they have received no credible threats, but they are preparing for anything including a lone wolf style attack. people we've talked to say they feel safe so far. they were out en masse yesterday

the stabndoff happened at a chocolate cafe. an investigation into the attack found that a ricocheting bullet hit and killed a female hostage. another hostage was killed execution style by the hostage taker. that prompted a police raid at the cafe. 16 other hostages were not hurt. new this morning, one person is dead, 60 people are out of their home after this fire a in san francisco. it it quickly spread the entire building. six people taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. right now volunteers in montgomery county are working to help the homeless. dozens are out around the county talking to homeless people to learn how healthy and safe they are. the volunteers also want to find out how many homeless there are in the county. they will then use those numbers to help find housing. in d.c. this morning, volunteers are reviewing the numbers from a similar effort to help homelessness in the city.

volunteers meldheld a city wide count and survey last night. you can see them walking the streets and talking to the homeless population. right now d.c. homeless shelters are at or beyond capacity. those numbers will determine how much money the city will allocate to help the homeless this year. right now new england is digging out after several feet of snow hit parts of that region. but there may be more snow on the way. this video shows significant coastal coastal -- amtrak resuming normal services on all trains between d.c., new york and boston. of course after the storm. 6:19. this week blizzard didn't just bring snow in the middle of the storm, a woman in worcester, massachusetts gave birth to twins. and it happened in the ambulance. the twins were due february 27.
