good morning. it's super bowl sunday. i'm adam tuss. >> get the fryers going right, get the wings out. i'm angie goff. welcome to "news 4 today." you're probably wondering what's going on with the weather. a lot of people will be inside watching the game so they'll be okay. chuck, you're tracking winter weather on the way? >> yes. there's at least the possibility. we've been talking about it all weekend. there's just a chance of some very light sleet, snow or rain during the daylight hours tomorrow. won't affect travel because road temperatures should be far enough above the freezing mark. nonetheless, don't be surprised if you see late something today. then it becomes more impactful

overnight tonight as heavier rain moves there. that's likely. winter weather advisory remains posted from noon until 8:00 a.m. monday for northern maryland, panhandle of west virginia out towards winchester, virginia. maximum possibility for snow, one to maybe two usinches. that's about it near the pennsylvania border. around town, mainly all rain. not looking for a whole lot. storm team 4 radar shows light rain and snow possible. highs today in the upper 30s and low 40s with light sleet snow or rain during the daylight hours. more about the monday morning commute and a couple shots of cold air coming our way coming up. new this morning we're learning new information about the firefighters hurt battling the fire at an apartment complex in montgomery county. we know the fire broke out after 3:00 this morning on dudley lane just off rockville pike in bethesda. we want to check back with news 4's derrick ward there.

>> reporter: as you can see, the cleanup has already begun there. crews are putting plywood up and starting to assess the damage. we're told preliminarily it could be close to $1 million. take a look at the scene earlier this morning. it was about 3:00 a.m. when the fire broke out. at the height of this thing the flames were high enough and bright enough to be seen from the other side of the road. that's fortunate because they couldn't be seen from inside the apartment. it was a resident or a guest at the marriott hotel that first called 911 to alert folks this fire was going on. it seems to have started in a drier vent outside the building. the people inside the units weren't immediately aware what was going on. fortunately by the time firefighters got there, they were outside of the apartment. they had gotten themselves out and none of them were injured. however, there were a couple, shall we say, minor injuries on the part of firefighters as we hear from montgomery county's pete perringger.

>> two firefighters suffered some injuries one hand injury when he was putting up a ladder. another fell on the ice. in the teens this morning, very cold, but it was a dry cold. there wasa? a lot of ice out. >> and again it's still under investigation exactly what caused that. as pete said, probably somexe combustibles. sthaeg that's something folks have to be aware of all times but especially this time of year. dryers and vents have to be cleared because heat can indeed build up. we're told three families have been displaced. they are being taken care of by the red cross. one family may be at the marriott, ironically the same place where the guest was when they called in this fire and got firefighters here as soon as they could. we're live in bethesda derrick ward, news 4. knew this morning, two people were rushed to the hospital after this crash in montgomery county. take a look at the pictures here.

it happened around 7:30 on randolph road and beers mill road in silver spring. two cars collided. one person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. also knew this morning, crews are repairing another water main break on bradley boulevard off wisconsin avenue in bethesda. the water should be back on by lunchtime. police in d.c. are working to identify a body found in the stream of the potomac river just before noon yesterday. they say it was pulled out near thomas avenue and four mile run. at this point it's still unknown whether that's the body of a male or female. we are working to get more information on the story right now. tomorrow the navy yard building 197 will reopen following the deadly shooting rampage. a ceremony will be held at 8:00 in the morningmw the reveal the $63 million renovation. it includes a remembrance area to honor the 12 people killed. 400 human resources employees

could be a thing of the past for college students. >> colleges nationwide are taking a hard line on drinking, aimed at preventing sexualf"cx assault on campuses. nbc's stephanie gosk says the reaction on campus. >> reporter: is the wild alcohol fueled party on campus, a rite of passage? >> this week dartmouth banned hard alcohol on campus hoping to bring an end to bing drinking and sexual assault. >> we are not alone in facing it but we will lead in saying no more. >> reporter: some students at the ivy league school seemed to embrace the goal if not the method. >> probably not the most popular decision. >> an estimated 40% of college kids bing drink. for women, that's four beers, and for men it's five in under two hours. the dartmouth decision came days

after 16 national sorority leaders banned their university of virginia chapters from going to fraternity parties this weekend. in a letter the sorority presidents wrote we believe the activities present significant safety concerns for all of our members. the mandate sparked criticism. >> i think it sends the message that women are weak, and i think i'm better than that. i think i'm smarter and more powerful than hiding in my home whenever i feel as though i'm in danger. >> reporter: the university put in place new rules and sexual assault policies after a discredded report in rolling stone alleged a gang rape at a fraternity. other universities are facing scrutiny as well. this week two former vanderbilt football players were convicted of raping a fellow student in 2013. >> i'm just sorry. i never intended on hurting anyone. i was extremely intoxicated. >> just some of the cases that have triggered schools around the country to take action.

after weeks of deliberations, mitt romney finally came out friday saying he will not run for president in 2016. >> joining us to talk more about this is "meet the press" moderator chuck todd who i know is not shocked. you called this a couple weeks ago when the rumors started to fly and you said, i don't think he's going to go through with this. in making the decision to pull out, he made mention he wanted to make room for other gop leaders of another generation, but to me i feel like that move actually benefits the better well-known or the more well-known people. >> first of all romney was the final domino. we didn't know who was going to be in the field.

he was the last sort of domino. which way was it going to fall? now we know who the candidates are going to be. i do think his statement seemed to be a nod toward the younger generation, scott walkers marco rubio. it is jeb bush who will benefit the most financially in the financial primary. the question now is, scott walker i think is the sort of -- the new candidate of the moment. we've got new polling we'll show on "meet the press" this morning that shows, believe it or not, he's in fol position, in first place in a new iowa caucus poll. already walker is in first place, jeb bush is in single digits. if jeb bush is a front-runner, he's among the weakest in the history of politics. >> what do you make of chris christie? >> i'm a christie skeptic and i have been. i never understood how you ideological fit in the party. romney getting out gives him the window to raise a bunch of
