14 after the hour. a developing story right now in fairfax county. a patient has possibly come down with measles. that patient is quarantined this morning. richard krorjordan is live with more on what with should learn later today. >> reporter: in just a few hour the health department will have test results back to confirm whether or not this is a confirmed case of the measles. right now the patient is being isolated kept in their home usa a precaution. even without these test results. because the measles is highly contagious. it's not clear where they may have come in contact with the disease. so that is why you have some precautions now in if he could and why health officials are looking at exposure sites. of course the patient did suffer from the typical symptoms which

include high fever followed by rash and bumps. i've posted a link to some of the other symptoms on my facebook and twitter account so you can check it out there. but again, we're expecting confirmation from the fairfax health department later today. s if it is confirmed case of the measles, it would be the first in virginia. richard jordan news 4. and this possible case in fair pax is just the latest in a growing number of measles cases nationwide. ed according to the cdc, 121 people in 17 states and washington, d.c. how have measles. in the last week alone, measles spread to three more states and infected an additional 19 people. the white house says there is now no doubt that american hostage was killed by isis. kayla mueller was taken hostage in august 2013 while leaving a hospital this syria. isis said she died during an air strike. president obama says they are holding on to their policy in not paying ransoms for hostages.

urging all americans who live in yemen to leave. basketball analyst and former player greg anthony will be back in a d.c. courtroom later this morning. earlier this morning, anthony bled not guilty to a charge of slow soliciting a prostitute. court documents show anthony responded to an ad placed by police. a teen with epilepsy may soon be able to use cannabis oil to treat her condition. the senate passed a similar law last week. 15-year-old jennifer collins from fairfax and her mom helped convince lawmakers to pats the bill. house and senate will thousand work out differences between those two bills. governor mcauliffe has expressed support for medical marijuana in the past. doctors say more teens are using drugs made out of household supplies or bought from smoke shops.

loop, outer loop. everything rolling along. and we do have the brunswick east 890, that is completely canceled. i'm back in ten minutes with travel times. students are remembering a teen killed in an early morning house fire students at north county high school came to pay tribute last night. the teen's mother and neighbor also died in that fire yesterday morning when they tried to go back in and rescue hill. . his father and orlando brother managed to escape. the teen's friends called him sonny because they say he was always smiling. >> you'd never see him sad or down. he could be sad from the inside but always cheer you up and smile. he will always be in my heart. >> investigators believe it started in a bedroom but not sure what started it.

fire marshal says it's a good reminder to have an escape plan. 13 people have already died in fire this is year. 7 of those are under the age of 18. today congress may make a decision on military force against isis. tracie potts joining us live to talk about this. we know the president's authorization request will get to the hilda. do we know what he'll say? >> reporter: it's supposed to limit the action against isis to both sides say they like that. what they're not clear on is the language that says this will be limited to enduring offensive combat. kind of vague what is that all about. defensive versus offensive, what exactly will the combat mags include, enduring how long is that. so that's probably what some of the debate will be about.

>> and we know kayla mueller was killed killed. are we sure she's the last american hostage? >> reporter: these the last known american hostage, but the state department says they have reports of other americans who have gone missing. with mueller, they didn't release her identity for the long time at the request of the family because they were concerned isis may do something to her if they made that information public. so what else they may be dealing with behind closed doors with some of the other missing americans could actually be in the hands of sis,isis, we don't know. we're hearing from the father of an 8-year-old girl who left a school without a teacher noticing. rebecca and her husband want their daughter to attend a different school. they plan to meet again with the superintendent this afternoon.

on friday morning, 8-year-old natalia left williams ramsey and started to walk home. a good samaritan found hr her and called police.school never called her parents to say she was missing. police notified the family. >> we have all these concerns, you know safety being the number one. proper supervision to have someone to may go sure that the child is in place where they need to be within a certain reasonable amount of time. >> natalia was gone for about an hour. her parents say their daughter told them she left school because a teacher ignored her complaint about a bully pushing her. we now have some pictures to show you of a man police say stole two kittens if northwest d.c.. take a look. d.c. police say this man in the black cap took those kittens from the petco on 14th street. we first told you about this yesterday. kittens were three months old. there is a $500 reward in this case. it is 5:36.

northern virginia bureau will be back in charlottesville next week as jesse matthew faces murder charges for the death of hannah graham. virginia prosecutors say they are not pursuing the death penalty in this case. graham was a student at uva. her body was found back in october. if he's convicted matthew could be sentenced to life in prison. today president obama is expected to announce the wall of nearly all u.s. troops key employed to fight ebola. the u.s. sent nearly 3,000 troops to help contain the deadly virus. about 1500 troops have already returned. just 100 will remain after april 30. the white house says many functions the military had been handling will now be performed by civilians. marylanders apparently support the new governor larry hogan, but they don't support his proposal to slow the growth of education funding. 27% of those surveyed support the plan 69% oppose it.

overall, 58% of those polled say maryland in a right direction. he is pushing hard to repeal storm water management fees that critics call the rain tap. the republican outlined a new bill yesterday that would let the ten jurisdictions find alternate ways to pay for cleaning pollute rain runoff that washes in to the chesapeake bay. the chesapeake foundation says current law creates funding that counties have failed to produce on their own. a special hiring our heros job pair today starts at 10:00 at quantico. 8:30 there is a jobs workshop. will is for military veterans and their spouses only. the u.s. chamber off commerce says more than 60 employers will be there. teaching is one of the most stressful jobs in the country and now there is a connection between what teachers go through

we know being a teacher is it one of toughest jobs and a new study is stressing the need for better mental health services. researchers in arizona evaluated 27 elementary schoolteachers for symptoms of clinical depression and assessed their students' reading and math skills throughout the rear.year. teachers struggling with depression were more likely to have less quality classrooms. children most vulnerable were those struggling in math.

inspectors will take a closer look at a bridge on the

beltway after a clunghunk of concrete fell and smashed the windshield. a lot of damage to the wind shield and top of the car, too. megan mcgrath is live on the suitland parkway with more on what is happening. >> reporter: the bridge in question is down the road a little bit behind me here. perhaps you can see the headlights of the cars and trucks passing over it. the bridge carries traffic from 495 beltway across suitland parkway. structural engineers say that the bridge itself is strug alley sound. however, yesterday a chunk of concrete fell off of it down to a car below. the driver was headed east on suitland parkway as they passed under, the bridge that concrete fell down and damaged the car. it smashed the went shield. you can see pieces of con right on the roof as well as the trunk. fortunately the driver was not

injured. but obviously not a safe situation. woor expecting engineers to come out here later on this morning just to take another look but they did say they believe everything is structurally sound. but they will try to figure out exactly why this happened how to prevent something like this from happening again. but as of the traffic pattern this morning, everything is normal. we have all lanes opened and the bridge itself is open as well. back to you. 12 before the hour now. today we'll learn how major construction project on 395 could impact your drive to work in the near future. the capital crossing proper skrukt expected to take years as crews put up new buildings. ddot is holding a meeting later this morning on whether the project is on schedule so far this year. you may have some -- may have seen is some changes on hchl street and mass avenue northwest recently as phase three of the

sniper. eddie ray routh is accused of killing chris kyle and his friend at a texas gun range in 2013. kyle's widow will be among the first to testify during that trial. the defense will try to argue that routh was insane and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. a developing story right now a man is in custody after three mus lum luz muslim students were shot dead. this man the suspected gunman turned himself in. the victims include a 23-year-old dental student at channel hill and his wife and her sister who were also students at north carolina state. police haven't released a motive, but that didn't stop the outrage from erupting on social media. right now we're finding online contribute brutes set up for the victims.

there is a new book out by a former adviser to president obama and the president is already responding. david axelrod wrote in his book that the president was always this favor of same-sex marriage even though in 2008 he said he supported civil unions instead. axelrod said that was for political reasons. president obama told buzzfeed that was how he felt at the time though. the president announced his support from same-sex marriage in 2012. today you could learn more about a new policing policy. they plan to conduct a series of forums in the faith community. citizens advisory committee will also be put together and will look into successful community police programs in other counties. there will be a big shoutout for fathers of students. mid year forum and awards ceremony will highlight outstanding work by dads in the county. it's also a chance to discuss
