hometown highs. right now a busy highway is back open following a water main break that causeded a sinkhole in alexandria. chopper 4 over the scene for us last night while you were sleeping crews finished the repairs there on the southbound lanes of richmond highway. we checked with fairfax water and the water main is fixed and the water is back on this morning. now a look at traffic from melissa mollet. good morning. right now actually looking pretty good. 95 in virginia, dale boulevard, looked a little slow on my map. doesn't look so bad when you see it in person. wider look at things, everything flowing quite nicely. 2270 at old hupd road getting a little bit of volume out of frederick. a little slow around this bend. and we typically do see that this time of the morning. 95 in maryland no issue there is. same thing bw parkway into and out of town. and we do have cancellation brunswick east 890, canceled all

together today. i'll be back with travel times and also hearing about a new crash top of the beltway at connecticut avenue. it is now 6:02. a developing story this morning. a possible case of measles in fairfax county. health officials say that patient is quarantined this morning. richard skror dan is live at the fairfax county health department with more on what we should learn later today. soo. >> reporter: in just a few hours, the health department will release the test results that will either confirm or possibly rule out the possibility of measles for this patient. that confirmation corrected later on this afternoon. right now the patient is at home in isolation because the measles is very con passenger yus. it's not clear as to how this person may have come in contact with the virus, how they were exposed, how they got measles or possibly got measles. again, we're still waiting for the test results to come back. but every precaution is being

taken including looking at exposure sites, who may have come in contact with this person that can now, at risk. simple teams to look out for of course high fever and then the bumps and rash. several states have at least one reported case of measles. virginia wouldn't 18th state if today's results come back positive. there is also one case in d.c.. now, we've gone ahead and posted on facebook and twitter some of the symptoms that you should be looking out for. but again we're waiting for the test results to dockcome back later on today. richard jordan nbc 4. today greg anthony will be back in the courtroom. he pleaded not guilty to a charge of soliciting a prostitute. he was arrested in january while he was in town to announce a college basketball game. court documents show that anthony responded to an ad placed by police on a classified

website. police are trying to federal government out who stabbed federal government out who stabbeded a plan to death at the donovan hotel along 14th street. we're waiting for police to release more information. a second teen shot at frederick high school in maryland is back home and out of the hospital. two teenagers were shot last week at the school while attending a jv basketball game. police are still looking for whoever was responsible for that shooting. police are asking anyone who was at the game during the shooting on february 4th to hand over any photos or video that may help in the investigation. the other teen involved in the shooting was released from the hospital last week. today metro will go over its emergency plans for leaders from across our area. council of governments meeting later today. the interim gh will tell the council what the agency is do to go prepare for another emergency like the one at l'enfant plaza.

6:15. in just a matter of hour, congress could receive a request to use military force against isis in iraq and syria. this comes as yet another american hostage is killed by isis. the president's request would prohibit the use of, quote en endid youringen endureing offensive ground forces. some members of congress say they are not sure what that means. they will look at sending foors forces to syria. debate on this issue could last a month. as another hostage is killed the state department has hinted there may be more american hostages. kayla mueller was killed by isis. she was taken hostage in august of 02013 while leaving a hospital

in syria. her family received a message from isis telling them she was dead. >> kayla has touched the heart of the world. the world grieves with us. the world mourns with us. >> u.s. officials don't know how she died. but they are certain it was at the hands of isis. parents of an 8-year-old girl are upset that their daughter was able to leave an alexandria school without the teacher noticing. rebecca and her houseusband want their daughter to attend another school. they plan to meet with the superintendent this afternoon. friday morning 8-year-old natalia left williams ramsey elementary and started to walk home. >> she was running down the street and a strarngnger found her picked her up, called 911. >> natalia was gone to about an hour. she said she left school because a teacher ignored her complaint about a bully pushing her. it is 6:17.

new this morning, two people are dead and 65 are hurt after a 100 car pileup in south korea. officials say 7 of the injured were in serious condition. the pileup occurred in foggy weather on icy roads. also this morning, as ex-coast guard officer in soth korea has been sentenced to four years in prison for they go against during last year's deadly ferry sinking, the court says lives could have been saved if the captain had broadcast an evacuation order after he arrived to rescue passengers. the court also said the captain falsely stated that he had issued an evacuation order in the day after the ferry sank. horn 300 people died making it one of the country east deadliest disasters. 17 after the hour. a fairfax teen with epilepsy may soon be able to use cannabis oil to treat her condition. virginia's house of delegates unanimously passed medical mayor hair legislation yesterday. the senate passed a similar law last week.

15 15-year-old jennifer collins and her mother helped convince lawmakers to pass that bill. governor mcauliffe has expressed support for medical marijuana in the past. doctors say more teens are using drugs made out of household supplies or bought from smoke shops. urgent care centers say they're seeing an uptick in patients uses over the counter designer drugs like spice, sip threat tick marijuana and bath salts. according to the national smut on drug abuse, spice products are now the second most used drugs by high school seniors. regular marijuana is still first. some people in need of housing assistance could get a little help ifn fairfax county. they will start handing out federal vouchers to some on a long waiting list. they had been frozen after sequestration cuts. there are more than 800 people on the list and the county can only help about 280.

phase three of the capital crossing project is under way and today we'll learn how it could impact your drive to work in the they're future. crews are working all around the 3rd street tunnel. they will build a cover over it and eventually construct new buildings on that grid. the work is expected to take year. today ddot is holding a meeting on how the project is going so far. new this morning, while you were sleeping police arrested the man they believe shot three muslim family members nearright now craig hicks is behind bars facing three counts of first-degree murder. police say a husband, wife and her sister were found shot the in the head at an apartment complex in chapel hill. investigators have not said what they think may have led to the shootings. u.s. park police are hiring 18 new officers in response to the concerns the department conditions keep national monuments safe. mark segraves spoke with the chairman of the park police's union. he says budget cuts have put staffing levels at their lowest

in five year. he said terrorism was just one concern. >> we're not even able to effectively and responsibly investigate homicides. you can't blame a poor person for not eating. and that's where we are at this point. >> the union officer would told mark that it's been more difficult to investigate car accidents and crime like the deadly hit and run on the bw parkway last week. maryland governor hogan is pushing hard to repeal the so-called rain tax. the republican outlined a new bill that would let the ten jurisdictions find alternative ways to pay for cleaning polluted rain runoff. the chesapeake bay foundation says the current law creates funding for programs that counties have failed to produce on their own for years. marylanders apparently support the new governor. but they don't support his proposals to slow the growth of education funding. this is according to a new poll from the "washington post". 27% of those surveyed support the plan. 69% oppose it.

overall, 58% of those polled say that they believe governor hogan will lead hearmaryland in the right direction. a drunk of concrete fell on a car on suitland parkway. megan mcgrath is live with more on what crews will be doing to keep you safe. >> reporter: that overpass bridge is behind me here. you can perhaps see the headlights of the traffic traveling across it. the bridge carries beltway traffic across suitland parkway. engineers say that it is structure structurally sound, however yesterday a chunk of concrete fell off on to a car below. you can see the damage that was done. that driver traveling eastbound on the suitland parkway. as they went underneath the overpass concrete came falling down on top of their car. you can see little pieces of concrete on the roof of the

coming up on the "today" jenna bush takes us inside. 6:40. a review by the news 4 iteam reveals state highway officials in maryland will are worry that had they are blind to what is happening on the bw parkway. in 2013 mar officials expressed some concern take they don't have enough traffic cameras monitoring drivers and accidents. state leaders acknowledge having difficulty respond to go incidents because of that. park police union says the lack of eyes in the sky could slow their ability to investigate crashes. they are adding six cameras next year to improve visibility. chopper 4 over this situation in potomac.
