workers clearing debris at the crash site. mexican officials say the bus ignored a stoplight at a rail way crossing. it was split in half by the train and several passengers were trapped under the bus following the crash. >> all is back to normal at a dallas airport after a shooting. yesterday two sheriffs deputies were escorting an inmate through the airport and the inmate requested to use the bathroom. once his handcuffs were removed, he charged at the deputies and they shot the guy, but he was still able to make a run for it. they finally were able to catch up with the suspect in a security area. both were taken to the hospital. >> canadian police say they busted plans for a deadly shooting rampage. one is a 23-year-old american woman from illinois. the woman and her accomplice planned a mass shooting at a mall for valentine's day. it was set to happen today in

halifax, nova scotia. they arrested the woman at an airport who confessed there. police say a 19 yore old accomplice took his own life as officers surrounded hads home. >> former ravens player ray rice is asking for forgiveness for what he said is a horrible mistake. this comes ahead of the one-year mark. in a statement released to the sun and posted on his facebook page, he said he was sorry for letting down the young fans who looked up to him. he said there is no excuse for domestic violence. he is charged with assault against his then fiance. a video surfaced that showed him punching her in an elevator. >> gifts and packages may not be delivered on time. a network outage is causing problems for the postal service. package handling and i mail has been affected. services are running without problem ises.

video of rescue workers trying to clear the debris at the crash site. officials say the bus ignored a stoplight at a rail way crossing. the bus was literally split in half as you can tell by the video. that was done by the on coming train. several passengers were trapped under that bus right after the crash. >> it is quiet as we look at the capitol this morning. metro faced tough questions from congress during that hearing on the transit system smoke emergency. kmis communication and functioning were no excuse for passengers being trapped for 30 minutes. that's how long it took to get to them. they heard from d.c. resident jonathan rogers who was on the train and videotaped part of it and gave cpr to a woman who later died. >> in a photo believed to be the last i took before giving cpr to

blower getting swept up. the man was headed out the side of the mountain when a wave broke away. here his friends realized he was not behind them and noticed it's only his head that is still above the snow. everyone rushed to save him. he is pretty much entirely buried. they were able to dig him out and thank goodness he is okay. >> we can't take our weather changes lightly. protect people pipes and pets. even animal who is are used to the cold will need additional shelter. you have an outdoor dog, make sure they have warmer places to go. it could be very cold weather and the cold is coming. last year reagan national only made it into the single digits

sprinkle or two, but the real deal for a mix of rain and snow arrives after 3:00 this afternoon and should be out of here by 8:00 or 9:00. the most intense rain or snow likely to come down between 3:00 and 8:00 this evening. it's just warm enough where we shouldn't have trouble on the roads, but cold enough to have snow flakes mixing in. potential could get as much as an inch or more and around the metro the snow could come down enough to leave a white coating. hour by hour temperatures staying in the upper 30s to near 40. a great reminder to have the weather app ready to go for the next couple of days. there is the alberta clipper. for us it's this ripple in person pennsylvania as it comes along the border and could bring out a couple of snow showers. the only advisories are winter weather for columbia and annapolis and points north and

police opened fire. the shooting has drawn criticism from the president of mexico. he condemned the violence against the mexican citizen the family filed a lawsuit against the city. >> if you have anthem health insurance, you can take advantage of theft insurance. they said anthem hired an outside company to offer identity theft repair assistance and credit monitoring. they broke into a database that held social security numbers, birth dates and other personal information. they are not sure how many of the 80 million customers were affected. >> we now know the new date for the trial of jesse matthew accused of raping a fairfax woman. his trial was scheduled for march, but they wanted more time to look at dna evidence. a judge moved the trial to begin june 8th. he is accused of raping and trying to kill a woman.

he was indicted for the university of virginia student hannah graham who disappeared in september. the trial is expected to last two weeks. >> a developing story in ukraine. despite a ceasefire deal there is fighting between the ukrainian troops and rebel separatists who are trying to capture a rail way before a truce that is expected to begin tomorrow. 25 people were killed and leaders from russia ukraine, germany and france negotiated that peace plan. >> new this morning, a new case of measles in illinois. 13 cases have been confirmed and all of the cases are in cook county which includes chicago and surrounding areas. >> flu season has reached the peak and new cases of the flu appear to be dropping. it is still considered widespread in 32 states. according to the latest report from the centers for disease control, that includes maryland

will call angela opened hers -- she spotted something out of the ordinary. immediately. >> please don't be alarmed of my unfortunate predicament. >> i was afraid and i looked at the envelope and it said inmate mail. that's when the freak out began. >> an inmate sent her a note from the maximum security prison are a man she didn't know. he said he had been informed of her physical loveliness and wanted her to write back and develop a relationship. >> someone who the state felt was dangerous had my information and knew where i lived. >> she found he was in prison for kidnapping and sexual assault. we asked the state correctional officials and we were surprised by what we heard. they received eight similar complaints unwanted letters from prisoners including some here, the maximum security prison. in angela's case they linked it

to an online pen pal service in fort lauderdale florida. some charge inmates between 10 and $40 a year to post pictures and ads online. they solicit pen pals to write. some some cases they choose an inmate and send a letter but angela said she never used any pen pal site. how did her name and address get into the hands of a convicted felon? the operator said he has seen cases where people send them the names and addresses of random women found online in a phone book. hoping they will kwander their money and get their hopes up they scored a girlfriend and to get the inmates in hot water when women get scared and
